Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claims the club has pulled out of the running to sign Brazil star Ronaldinho this summer.
Perez made his announcement as Real revealed their second major signing of the close season - Argentine centre-back Gabriel Milito.
"The business of buying new players has now been closed and that\'s for sure," Perez said. "Milito\'s signing means that Ronaldinho will not be coming to Real Madrid this year."
But the latest statement from the Bernabeu has shed little new light on the future of the Paris St Germain midfielder - subject of an improved £18million offer from Manchester United on Tuesday.
Perez vehemently denied any interest in David Beckham before the England skipper\'s £25million move, a tactic he previously used while negotiating a world record deal for Zinedine Zidane.
And the Spaniards have already made it clear they are willing to offer a downpayment and wait until next year to complete the deal.
That arrangement may suit Paris St Germain, who still owe Real money from the transfer of Nicolas Anelka three years ago.
PSG president Francis Graille has admitted that United and Real are in a straight fight for Ronaldinho, despite reports of late interest from Chelsea.

Those do are news to me. What\'s the matter with Raul? He is not upset because of the attention of Beckham... none is.. the team is glad to see a great player coming... Raul even filmed a spot 2 days ago in Madrid next to Beckham... he\'s happy. Those are stupid english rumours to show that Real is not that good and formal, but IT IS!

In the old past Real was the single One, there was not competition because the football was Real, and Real was the football. Lately (1980-nowadays) the money have taken a very important role in football, so the greatest clubs are those who have high economical accounts. And over all, Real & Manchester have been prominent in this world. That means best players, more titles, good play...
As a football lover, I can appreciate a club like Manchester. It has good player, really good ones, it has titles, it has supporters, it has history, and the most important thing: it has football. The only team with football is Real. And you can see this point in the matches of this last season: people hadn\'t seen such great matches in ages... the 2 best clubs of the moment playing: that means football.
Football isn\'t the italian league. Football is not to wait in defence line till the other team attacks and you kick the ball up. That\'s sh¡t, not football.
It\'s clear that the best football/leagues are the spanish and english. If I had to reply to the question "what\'s the best club in the history?" I would reply Real. Real because of its history. We can deny history, and according to that, Real is far away from the second one, in this case Manchester.
But a new stage is borning. Real is owning again the stars, it has money, it has supporters, it\'s making history... perhaps we\'re contemplating the bore of a new legend.

I\'m not a big fan of Italian Football,it\'s boring,not competitive enough and players like Del Piero,Batistuta,Nesta,Shevchenko and Thuram among others should be playing in either Primera Liga or the FA Premier League.
I have always seen potential in Valencia and Athletico Madrid and with them producing players like Hasselbaink,Fortune,Mendieta and Carew they have the chance for glory,not yet but maybe in the future.
The premiership is a league where we play fast attacking football,skillful creative play with some of the best managers the world has to offer and the young talent is second to none.
Wayne Rooney and John O Shea are two of the best young players around and will go onto greater things as they age and progress.
I would love to see Raul and Roberto Cralos play for Utd cause they are breathtaking players among others around the world I would love to see play for us too

FEARS FOR RANIERI AS DEL BOSQUE IS HUNTED
Former Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque has been approached by Chelsea.
Del Bosque claims representatives of new Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich contacted him.
The Spaniard will not follow up the interest while current boss Claudio Ranieri is still in charge.
Only yesterday England coach Sven Goran Eriksson was seen lunching with Abramovich in London.
And while Ranieri has been told his job is safe, this revelation will cast further doubt over his future.
Del Bosque said: "I know there was a phone call and some interest but the issue is a delicate one.
"Chelsea have a manager who has a signed contract and I refuse to speak to them while the situation is like that.
"It would hurt me as much as it would Ranieri and I wouldn\'t like a similar thing to happen to me.
"But the Premiership is one of the most powerful leagues in the world and has clubs of enormous quality. Any coach would like to manage there, but not at any cost. I am a person with ethics."
Ranieri threatened to walk away from Stamford Bridge if Abramovich interfered in team affairs. But at this rate, the decision could be taken away from the Italian, who moved to Chelsea three years ago.

Yes, for Real. At the moment, there is no need to bring Ronaldinho because all the positions are covered. Perhaps next season is another matter... but I wouldn\'t bring him right now. That\'s my opinion.
Del Bosque has 2 prominent features: quality and education. He\'s perhaps the most educated person among the coaches of all over the world. If Chelsea gets him, it will buy an excellent coach, but also, an excellent person.

Neither do I. I think it was 99% by team matters. They wanted a change in the gameply and in the order of the players... I don\'t really know actually.
The interest in Samuel died yesterday. Real bought Milito, the best defence of Argentine, so the position now is covered. Samuel will come other season, not this one.

Ronaldinho wants to join Manchester United.
The Brazilian has turned down Barcelona and said he sees his future at Old Trafford.
He is now waiting for Paris St Germain and United to finalise the details of the transfer so he can move to Manchester.
The World Cup winner, who has also attracted interest from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Newcastle, has told his brother and agent, Roberto Assis, that he wants to play for Sir Alex Ferguson.
Assis said: "Ronaldinho wants to go to Manchester United, so at the moment it\'s just a question of waiting for the deal to be completed."
The 23-year-old, who PSG wanted to keep, was Sir Alex Ferguson\'s major summer transfer target and is expected to cost in the region of £18 million.
Like Ferguson and United chief executive Peter Kenyon, the playmaker, whose free-kick memorably eliminated England from last summer\'s World Cup, has become increasingly frustrated at PSG\'s failure to conclude a transfer with the Old Trafford outfit.
Although Ronaldinho has expressed a preference for a move to Spain, only Real Madrid fit the bill and while the deal offered by the nine-times European Cup winners which would have seen the player remain with PSG for another season might have been appealing to the club, the prospect of missing out on another season of Champions League football is unpalatable to the player.
"I have to talk with the PSG president Francis Graille because Ronaldinho wants the situation concluded," added Assis.
"We are working towards that and now it is just a question of timing."
Ronaldinho will join fellow new signings David Bellion and Eric Djemba-Djemba at Old Trafford.

CAMEROON STAR OFF TO STAMFORD BRIDGE
Real Madrid have agreed to sell Cameroon midfielder Geremi to Chelsea for £6.9m.
Geremi, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, will be the first player to sign for the west London club under the ownership of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Madrid were willing to sell Geremi as they have a plethora of midfielders following the arrival of England captain David Beckham at the Bernabeu.
Geremi was arguably Boro\'s best player last season, chipping in with a number of important goals during an impressive loan spell on Teesside.

RONNIE DEAL COULD BE DONE ON TUESDAY: KENYON
Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon is confident that Ronaldinho will join Manchester United - and said that the Brazilian could sign as soon as Tuesday.
The World Cup winner, who was also a target for Barcelona, has said he is keen to leave Paris St Germain to join the Red Devils.
And United are currently in negotiations with the French club about the 23-year-old, who is valued at around £18 million.
Kenyon hopes to conclude the long-running transfer saga for the playmaker, who previously played for Gremio.
"The player wants to come to United and we are hopeful everything will be finalised in a day or so," Kenyon told the Daily Express.
Ronaldinho\'s agent and brother Roberto Assis was also confident that the move will go ahead.
"It is with Manchester United that the dossier is furthest forward. It will be sorted out," said Assis.

For me, the best deal would be buying the player and let him play there for one year more, but it isn\'t possible... so much better see the player over there than in Barcelona.
