Title: Sea monsters, dinosaurs and giant squids

There have been recent reports that a sea monster has been seen several times in North Korea (along the lines of Scotlands Nessie).

Also, remember that photo that was floating around of that Japanese fish trawler that caught what looked to be the above sea monster in its fishing nets?

What about giant squids that supposedely live miles under the sea or anyother ancient creatures that are supposedley still seen today.

Post by: Samwise on July 15, 2003, 11:12:21 PM: Well, I don\'t think there are any "monsters" per say, but I do think there\'s a possibility of giant unknown animals living the the sea... the oceans are so vast that it wouldn\'t be impossible for such a creature to exist virtually unseen for many years.

If you\'re interested you should read Mapping The Deep, I only read a small part in a review but it seemed like it was going to be good.

I think that technically it is possible to discover new creatures, above all in hard places to reach, like deep seas, lakes and caves. The existence os these creatures, in this case giant animals, depends of the habitat and the relationsgip with other species. However I don\'t believe in such Lake-Ness monster creatures.

A couple of years ago they were scanning the entire of Loch Ness with a load of boats using sonar side by side, when they came back for the second run a large mass on the lake bed had disappeared. It was a very large mass too.

We\'ll never know for sure if it\'s something strange or just a large somthing that we already know about, you can only see about 6ft in front of yourself near the bottom, even with lights there is just too much dirt and debris floating around.

No, but it\'s because we have a Danish word similar to sea... but it means lake. :confused:

So I accidently used the wrong term.

Actually = Actualmente (spanish) (only formally, because actualmente means nowadays).

As for the ocean. Anything could be down there. Im sure there are hundreds if not thousands of different species of fish in those depths. I heard they just found a new breed of jellyfish down there. some red jelly or something like that..

Aye. i dont understand how scientifics can find out stuff that happens galaxies away, but we dont even know what\'s in our ocean.
