I\'m really screwed now. Two more years of high school left and my parents are getting divorced. I\'m really pissed off. I know they had problems but why now? Why not two years from now? I can\'t wait until next summer when I\'ll enlist in the Air Force and get away from this place. Seriously.

I\'ve occasionally stepped into huge fights my parents have had.. It really sucks. Good thing they haven\'t gotten to the point of divorce.

Sucks man, it happens, just try to make the best of it.
Your at an age where they shouldn\'t fight over custody which is a plus, thats hell to go through.
Have they just decided to seperate or is it an actual divorce? How long have they been seperated?

can I quote you on that? Doh, already did.
My parents almost divorced on several occasions about the same time in my life. Sucks, but they made it through it and are still together. Now they are fine. Just took some changing on their parts.

My best friends parents did it after like 25 years of marriage, it just happened that the Military sent him every which way, and she didn\'t want to move anymore, so they kind of just grew apart, things happen, it sucks, and am very sorry to hear of your bad news, but try and make the best of it man.

I\'m hoping to help out a co-worker who\'s wife is considering divorce. His wife chooses to work longer hours at her restaurant, on call 7 days a week too. Even on her off days, she goes to work to be sure it\'s fine. They\'re drifting apart. Not coz he wants a divorce but that SHE\'S considering it. He\'s a laid back kinda guy who\'s there for her when she comes home but she\'s too tired to even notice.
I told him that they\'re both young and that she might be making a mistake once she realizes that staying an extra 6 hours at work should not cut in to a marriage.
He\'s really hurting.
In your case, at least you\'re not too young. Do you have younger siblings?

If your parents have only just seperated then there is still a chance of reconciliation. \'Most\' cases they seperate and then decide for a divorce weeks or months later, not just like "honey, Im home, I want a divorce".
Let them cool down and it may just work out ok.

My dad says that the ball is in my mom\'s court. If she decides to get a divorce, thats whats gonna happen. I hope she decides against it, atleast until I get into college.

That\'s bad news man, it sucks that your parents are probably getting divorced. My parents got divorced before I can even remember anything (I was like 1 or something). But I wish they never divorced as my stepdad is a major dickhead. But I get to see my dad whenever I want to, but I don\'t know what i\'d do if I had to go that now like you have to.

I\'m in high school for 2 more years, jounior and senior year. It sounds pointless to go to a new school, leave the people I grew up with and make new friends for one or two years. Its stupid. Atleast when I\'m in college, I won\'t be living at home and off on my own.

Yea it my be selfish, but jesus I\'m sure you\'d love for your parents to get divorced regardless of reasons. No one wants to see there parents get divorced it is a mess for everyone not just himself.

I\'m not being selfish. We were gonna move as a family two years ago but they said they want me to stay in my high school. Anyway, it may look like it may not happen. And if it does my mom says she will try to get me to stay in my school. I didn\'t say that they have to stay together either because of me. My mom even told me once that this would have happened three years ago but she stayed because she wants me to stay with my friends. You guys don\'t know whats going on in my house so stop saying i\'m selfish and ignorant.

I will try and put it into perspective for you. This a bit confusing. My dad still loves my mom. My mom thinks she\'s underappreciated and gets into these mood swings and she always threatens divorce. I never thought too much of it. She always told me she doesn\'t want to divorce and take me out of school for my last two years. She actually kind of promised this (this is why I\'m pissed off. That and its frustrating to go to another school district and not go to the school with the friends I\'ve had since Kindergarten). She hasn\'t said anything about divorce for a couple days so I think that it may not happen which is good. My mom gets into mood swings and she says a lot of stuff she doesn\'t mean but I just got scared because the first thing she says when I got home from work was that this was gonna happen. Will it happen, I don\'t know. My dad says its up to my mom.

You are right Titan, no one really knows what is going on but yourself. If your school has counsellours maybe have a talk with them. I know it isn\'t something one wants to do but maybe they could help you understand your feelings and deal with the stress.

Thanks guar. A ccouple are saying I\'m selfish. My mom says all this could happen also before the start of my senior year. Thats another year of shit to do (trust me, I don\'t understand taht part). Is it selfish for wanting to finish out high school with my friends instead of moving and finishing my senior year in a new school? I\'m thinking about maybe convincing my aunt who lives in my town to let me live with her for the 9 month school year, IF THIS HAPPENS. My parents may work this out. I hope they do. Maybe all they need is time away from each other.

My parents divorced years ago when I was thirteen and the last thing on my mind was "oh no - i\'ll have to move".
You\'ll change schools. Make new friends and life moves on.
By the way - most marraiges end up in divorce, its common now. It isn\'t that big of a deal now\'a\'days.

Oh and from the two experts I knew your parents had to have been divoced my parents divoced when I was 10 hell my mom has divorced 3 times since and I could tell you about all the crap that I went through including a couple of batered womens homes. But it happens.. Oh well it was rough and I got past it and Im no serial killer (I\'am afraid me gta vice city scores might say differently)

Cyrus and LIC, I\'m 16, 17 in a couple months. You were younger. You still had time to make new friends and get to really know them. I\'d have what, one year after things get squared away? Supposedly, after the courts and stuff, I\'ll be in my senior year of high school. I\'d have just senior year to make new friends and then leave them when I go to college and not have the time to get to know them. Anyway, things have calmed down quite a bit and not sure whats gonna happen.

Well I hope they can work it out really but if not then its for the best. Just dont get weird about it if it happens you cant keep all promises and sometimes its just better to break a few than to live a lie.

I must be cold hearted, as I don\'t feel sorry for him in the least? Divorce\'s are so common now\'a\'days and the fact you are almost an adult makes it a lot easier for you to deal with. It shouldn\'t really even be an issue.

My parents got divorced when I was five, try that one on for size. But yeah, like someone else said, it sucks, it really does, but you\'re at an age you\'re not around your parents that much anymore right? And then, of course, the aforementioned 2x gifts etc etc

I dont understand how titan is being selfish.....if anyone is being selfish its his parents. As a parent it is their job to raise their children until they can live on their own. It\'s just not right for a kid no matter what age to have one parent leave and then have to go to a new school and start their livves all over.

Okay, no one is being selfish, things happen, sometimes marriages dont work out.
But that doesnt mean Titan should be fine all of a sudden, and if LIC is expecting him to feel nothing that is absurd, maybe, LIC had an easier experience, but you HAVE to let other people deal with it in there own way. People will all have different experiences with this type of thing, depending on the exact situation...

Alright, things are getting heated up again. My brother and I have been getting into fights with my mom. She is getting all messed up. I\'m trying to avoid confrontation because my mom won\'t stop until she feels she won. Until then, I seek comfort with my friends (even though one of my best friends who I\'ve been seeking counsil to is on vacation). I really want to call her and talk to her. She really helps calm me down and what not. Thats one reason I posted it here is to gain some support from you guys.
I\'m still holding together well. My mind is still unaffected (well maybe alittle after I smashed my head in the bottom of the pool today). I\'m pretty strong. I\'ll get through this. I just hope they don\'t battle over custody. I really don\'t want to go with either. I just want to stay in my crappy little town with my kickass friends and finish off high school.
LIC, why so cold? I\'ve been with my parents for 16+ years. I\'m supposed to just live my life pretending everything is perfect?

Besides the best part of my wedding was that my parents took up the WHOLE FRONT ROW of the chapel!! mother, and step father, father and step mother, mother inlaw and stepfather inlaw, father inlaw and stepmother inlaw. I mean doestn that sound like great fun :bounce:

Titan do you have any relatives who you could stay with for a few days? That way you could give your parents a bit of space to discuss things, without you getting stuck in the middle.

I respect and love both my parents. However, I was closer to my mother than my father. I simply accepted and knew it was best that they wasn\'t together. It never bothered me really..*shrugs*
