Get cable. DSL < Cable
-
DSL is good.
I\'m still on 56k. :(
-
congrats on getting a DSL connectiom sirmystiq. i\'ll be upgrading my dsl connection in a while.
btw Titan cable not > DSL, both are good in different ways, also just wait till Vdsl kicks off, then we\'ll see how many people ditch their cable :D.
-

DSL is consistantly slower by comparison to cable. Sometimes when cable is loaded at peak times, it\'s about as fast as DSL.
VDSL? I don\'t know. Google it. :)
-
Too lazy to Google today.
-
yeah but not lazy enough to spam ;).
j/k
-
Thank you for noticing.
-
DSL > Cable
The upper limit was 2 mbit here in Denmark before, but now it\'s been upped to 8 mbit instead. That\'s fast.
-
VDSL (http://www.ovislink.com.tw/vdsl.htm) not toomuch info but it gives ya an idea.
only draw back is dstance but thats not really a prob around here.
-
Here, we don\'t have DSL but I do hear its slower. I\'d take cable so it doesn\'t tie up the phone line. Hence cable > dsl :)

No. Up to 8 mbit as I said.

DSL doesn\'t tie up the phone either.
Hence cable > dsl :) [/B]
No.
Besides, DSL doesn\'t get slowed down depending on how many other users \'are online\'.
Again - DSL > Cable.
-
2 mb ADSL is more than enough for every person. More than 200kb/s!

Sammy, you\'ve won me over. DSL > Cable :)
-
Sammy, could you tell me how much is 2mb adsl and 8mb over there?
-
to get dsl to be as fast as cabel at least here in the USA you have to pay twice as much. thats why cable is better here.
-
Thats pretty similar to where I live. That and because DSL isn\'t even out yet where I live.
-
I am still using 56 :ghey: :(
-
56K = shit. I can\'t wait utnil we ditch 56K and get cable or something.
-
How about you guy\'s quit comparing specs and just remember some of us are f**ked and must still live off 56k.
:(
-
Sometimes I use 26.6K :( But thats my older computer and thats more stable and more user friendly than my Gateway :)
-
my cable runs at over 2mb I have a T2 basically for like 40 bucks a month
-
Cable > DSL in USA. In smaller countries where the home offices are 100\' away from the house DSL owns, but in a big one you\'re lucky to live within the same zip code as the HO. ;)
After some hellish nightmares and probably 1 jillion complaints Comcast cable seems to have gotten their sh*t straight and I\'m pinging under 50 on gaming servers regularly. And downloads are super fast around the clock. Baby steps...
Oh and you dial-up guys stop looking for pity and get broadband. Either get a job, move, or get a job & move. ;)
-
I dont think I could think I could go back to 56k...
I\'d rather bash my face in with a fencing hammer. Not to mention the fact that you could kiss most online gaming away.
-
I wish it was that simple, THX. I have a job, but moving is not an option right now. If it was, I would of done it already. The phone companies and goverment need to get off their ass and bring broadband to everyone. We are one of the worse countries for broadband.
-
<------------Beautiful Cable and damn fast
-
I have sucky cable... 60kbs max download on a good day. Usually 40kbs... and I am paying $70 a month for this because the local cable company has a monopoly on the broadband market, that is until August 12th when DSL finally enters the market here. I am going to be switching ASAP due to less money - $40 a month and most likely faster downloads and a more consistant ping.
I checked the speed of the ISP on that one site (can\'t remember the name) and it was ranked as one of the slowest. Pathetic...
-
wow giga, those are really shitty rates for a cable connection. I\'ve had my cable for about 4 months now and I generally download between 150k - 400k sec (depending on time of day) and I ping usually below 50ms, some times between 50-75 during peak times. All this for $45 a month... which isn\'t that bad.
Overall though I love cable and I just can never go back to dial-up

Great, so this means we will get your meaningless replies that much faster...

I finally got it!!!
Took a few days because I had to restore my computer, but its finally up. Im broke so ima have to play madden 03 for a bit!!
-
I use Cox High Speed Internet here in Nebraska. When I first got it it was amazingly fast. Not matter what time I downloaded, it would always be at 300k+ a sec. Now it\'s gotten to the point where from around 5p.m. until midnight it\'s slooowwww. I can\'t remember the last time I saw a file download at 300k/s.
Cable modems share bandwidth with the entire network (like your neighborhood), right? I\'m guessing it\'s gotten slow because more and more people have started using it.
