Title: Racer, enter and learn
Post by: Seed_Of_Evil on July 31, 2003, 06:40:55 AM
Bah nothing kewl, but I wanted to share with you my first photo-realistic (almost) composition with Maya. I never got it with 3D Max, but as I said before, Maya gets coller results.

I was practicing with reflects in metalic objects when decided to implement reflects in glasses. I firstly modelled the large glass, well, I did twice (you can notice the erroneous reflect in it of another one) and then, in another different project i modelled th small glass with the spoon.

I tried to model some kinda inscription in the spoon but all i got was shit :) I mixed both projects in photoshop. I added blur in order to unfocus the 2nd plane and then y copy the small glass in another layes to make that "fantastic - dream" effect around it, to get your attention.

In the project I used two light fonts for reflections (up,105º; left 69º).

Hope you like it.

PD: 3D Max 6 is just to be launched.

*EDIT: Distortions of glass and spoon were got with "liquate" in Photoshop.

very nice bro. I\'m going to my studio right now to work on some max stuff for my new music project, "future street people"...

If you want some practice and have time, maybe you could whip
up something cool with those words?

HOLY SHIT! THat\'s cool! I copied your thread to another forum. We\'ll see what the Photoshop gurus over there have to say. :)

LOL ! You do this for hobby eh.. Adan ?
Anyway, what i wanted 2 ask you ; which
Maya version r u using ?. Cuz, I only have
version 4 and the only thing i\'m good at
in there is inverse kinematics animation.
Imo the shader options are a bit user
friendly in my Cinema4D XL 7.1

Adan, that is very sweet. I\'m not having much success at the moment. I am lacking interest because nothing seems to be working for me - I can\'t even figure out how to line up my bloody splines, let alone turn them into editable meshes.

I\'m gonna go to art college next year anyway and they teach you everything, its a animation school, would love to get into game graphics but 3D Studio Max is proving very un-user friendly. I\'m a whizz at Bryce and Vue, hell, Maya is easier to use then 3DSM.

Adan, that is an excellent render, how long did it take?

Hmm, I don\'t understand Racer. Sure you\'re not just a quitter? :p

I started out with MAX 1.2 and just messed around with all the buttons and stuff for a few days. After a little while I got more and more into it and suddenly I\'d have the basics locked down. Then I\'d start reading some tutorials. :D

Imo neither of us has THE bragging rights 2 say he/she is soooo friggin good at 3D graphics / animation.... I\'ve been visiting the CGtalk forums for some small time now and all i can say is ; dog eats dog (not the band :p  )  Some ppl\'s work over there is IMO just so nice which makes me go  and then feel like :crap: about my own stuff.
Then again ; I\'m certainly not the worst but i\'ve got a whole lot to learn. ( what i can\'t stand though ; ppl who bash other ppl\'s work absurdly harsh when they KNOW it\'s WIP (work in progress)  )

Very impressive.

I wish I had the patience to learn a 3D Program.
