New N-Gage is coming out next month. I work at EB GAMES and supposed to be pushing sales of this new phone/handheld game console. I was just wonder what everyone\'s take was on it - price, useablity, etc. I personally do not see sales doing all that great. Her is the link for more info, take a look and let me have some opinions.
And no... I\'m not spamming to promote EB :P

it\'s shit
-
I heard it was shit too.
-
Next month? What\'s the retail price? What\'s the lauch games? Where\'s the hype? And who designed such a god-awful device?
:)
-
It\'s not going to hurt the GBA. It costs too much money, and isn\'t focused enough on games.
Case in point, one of the unit\'s biggest criticisms is that the button layout sucks balls. BTW.. Nokia.. would it be so hard to show off game screenshots on your site? I wanna see how good (or bad) Tomb Raider looks..

Hey now I got a 3DO when they came out ....yes it was a peace of shit. I think N-Gage is shit to, just glad to hear that I\'m not the only one
-
ACTUALLY, 3DO was a nice piece of hardware that got little support
-
I\'ve gotta agree with Mikey here, 3DO was good hardware for its time.. just too expensive and with little support.
In the case of N-Gage, the hardware is a step up from GBA.. but it has too many other flaws to beat out Nintendo\'s handheld. IMO, the GBA-SP won\'t face a challenge until the PSP is available. That is the only true test.
N-Gage compromises ease of play for more features, and is lacking in library. Hell, half of its games are probably going to GBA anyway; Super Monkey Ball is already out, for instance.
-
A step up?
My favorite bit of press about the N-Gage so far was from an E3 review where they remarked how holding the unit sideways to your head to talk into the phone parts curiously located where the GBA\'s shoulder buttons are, for example, was like holding a taco to your head.
Where can I sign up...

I was talking about the "FATE" of the 3DO ;)...
Intresting to see if this thing makes it past its first year.

Whaaaooo and for a fraction of the price you could of got yourself a MP3 phone and GBA SP.
-
it\'s shit

Perhaps we shouldnt judge it as a handheld console for gaming but as a handheld device for multible uses.

Yeah but for a fraction of the price you can get a far superior phone and GBA SP.
Nokia deserves to take a fall for this.
-
I\'m with Unicron on this... Nokia didn\'t come out with the N-gage as a device deisgned solely for gaming... instead, they integrated four popular devices into one... a phone, a gaming device, an mp3 player, and a pda. And yes, you can buy all of those items separately for about the same price ( if, of course, you cheap out on the mp3 player and pda... ) but that isn\'t the point...
the whole point of combining elements is to make it more convenient, and in my opinion, in so much as I pre-ordered one despite the hype, Nokia has succeeded at just doing that.
-
im sorry you bought one
its not too late to cancell
-
I\'m happy I bought one; and I\'ll enjoy it just to spite you MM.
-
hey, it\'s yer money
might as well go out and buy some crack too

What and you couldn\'t of just got a far superior phone plus a GBA + games for a fraction of the price.
God  you must have more money than sense.
-
Excuse me, while you guy\'s talk about a "step up" I want to point a few things out.
- A "step up" does not mean making a hybrid. The N-Gage is not sure if it wants to be a phone, MP3 player or a portable game system. It\'s a hybrid and from what I understand, based off first impressions, it\'s not good at any of those things.
- A "step up"? Have any of you read on how to change the game cartridge out? You actually have to take the back off (snaps off) , remove the battery, remove another snap and then take the game out. This is a not a step up. Hell, this isn\'t a step backwards. This is a huge leap in the wrong direction in every possible manner.
- It priced to much to truly be a competiive systme.
- With Sony releasing their PSP (which I think will be yet another failure in the handheld market), and Nintendo\'s GBA:SP dominating the handheld market, there really is no need or place for the Nokia N-Gage.
That said - I will buy one, once they are discountined...For my collection, of course.
-
The internal hardware appears to be a step up. Fully-polygonal Tomb Raider isn\'t apparently possible on GBA.
-
hmm interesting this one:
