They are looking for excuses if they lose. But the guy kind of has a point. I hate Hip Hop and don\'t like Pop. I think that once in a while, a decent song comes around. I like rock a lot more than those other genres.

Music does not suck. Mainstream music sucks. Get in to some good indie bands, the music is much more creative and interesting

The stuff they feed you on the radio sucks. The playlists for the radio sucks. The "artist" of the "mintue" sucks. Music doesn\'t suck. The industry sucks and what they sell the people sucks.

It\'s that simple.
There has not been any true breakthrough artist that have gained mainstream success in awhile. Where are the Hendrix\'s of this generation? The Morrison? The Zepplin\'s? The list goes on and on.. The industry fine\'s a boy-band (How you doin\', N\'Sync), a cute rap-rock  band (Hello! Linkin Park!) and so on and so on.

I don\'t remember the last time I turned on the radio and said, "wow, now there is a band with talent". Or "wow, I wouldn\'t mind hearing more of their stuff." . It just doesn\'t happen.

I\'d see we are in a drought for good talent right now.  There are some but it just seems like it\'s gotten harder to find good stuff.  That and everyone is tired of sinking $18 into a CD for 1 song.

Linkin Park, Rufio, Mest, The Ataris, and Staind... All rock.

You haters can go back to listening to whatever garage bands you like, but don\'t hate on success.

I don\'t like popular music because too many people listen to it. I like underground music that sucks a little bit more than mainstream music; but is only listened to by me and some of my associates. Since we\'re the only ones listening to them we are elite and extra cool.

I remember when Nsync was underground. They definately sold out to the mainstream. What happened to the underground classics like "Sexing up the young ones"?

Give me grainy, poorly produced, badly mixed underground trash any day of the week.

I\'M POPULAR BECAUSE I LIKE STUFF THATS NOT.

UNDERGROUND!!!

Meh ! It\'s the same ol\' discussion over and over again.
Music = Matter of Taste. Yes, when you wanna look at
it ( hear at it   ? ) in a 100 % objective way, then
one can only come to THAT conclusion. I\'m just trying to
break the mold from narrowminded , categorizing thinking.
I know this guy who thinks for example, guitar made music
is better than DJ stuff. Why would that be ?! Does it take
more physical strain or skill ? LOL  Is it becuz
the guitar player can hop around on stage and the DJ
stays behind his turntables ?! Is it becuz guitar music is
more \'live-on-stage\' music than Dj-ing ?!
What fvcked up way of thinking that is !
In the end the ONLY thing that matters is what the
ear can hear. The way it is made don\'t mean sh1t (2me)
Ppl always tend apply terms like "BETTER" and "WORSE"
way to much on music. Alot of the time the discussion isn\'t
about the music itself anymore. It\'s like the point HIdeo
Kojima is trying to make in MGS2 ( the end codec scene with
the AI ) ; everyone stays within their own "pool"  , in this
case \'music scene/ music genre\' and will claim the one they\'re
in is best and the others are crap. Kojima is right. Ppl are
bvllsh1tting. They "use" music as a means of a way to claim
2B better than others. How low can they go........

It really depends on what kind of music you listen to.  I am open to most all kinds except for country and metal.  I love jazz and classic rock for the most part.  That\'s about all I listen to.  I do listen to some new stuff only so I don\'t feel so damn old.

LIC, I like Linkin Park (but some select songs) but I do agree with you that a lot of it does suck. Its like N\'Sync and all them. I hate them, all boy bands IMO, suck. Its one reason I don\'t buy a lot of CDs. I don\'t feel like paying 20 bucks for a couple songs where I can download them for free and make a mix on my own CD. Then the music industry shines all this light trying to say "this band is the best, buy their stuff". Now, everyones sick of it and now they try and get the songs they like for free and the music industry is kind of pissed because they can\'t boost sales. They then shift the blame on Kazaa and Napster even though its their fault for overdoing it. Sometimes I think the best bands are the ones not very well known. Sorry for my babbling, I thought I should get that off my chest.

You know even some boy bands have catchy songs that get in your head. I\'m just gonna say what a lot of you are to scared to say. Some N\'Sync is good.

Depends on the song thats stuck in my head. If its a song I really like, I don\'t mind it stuck in my head for a while. If its a bad song, I smack my head against the wall.

I can\'t wait! It\'s been to long...I\'ve almost grown tired of playing Mer De Noms every frickin day.

It\'s called the Thirteenth Step

I know their newest song hit the radio waves in the US last week, it\'s called "Weak and Powerless".  And from what I heard (the version recorded off the radio), it sounds like a decent song.  The chorus may take a while to really grow on me, though.  It\'s hard to get the CD version though.

The albumn hits the shelves on the 16th of September.  Probably longer for me.  :(

[edit]

Well I just downloaded the CD version and I must say it\'s a really good song.  I still think the chorus lacks a little power, but it\'s still nice.  Hell, just go here (http://www.aperfectcircle.com) if you wanna hear the song.  Not sure of it\'s quality, though.

Even assuming that they are good, they aren\'t in the charts.  Thus our point is proven.

So Bob, really, what did you do with GTrigger.  I miss that lil\' site.

As for music,  I have to look high and low for good music now.  Only a few new bands are even worth mentioning.  Looking at Deadly Hamster\'s list I can only recognize three bands, only one of which I like (thursday).  Plus, I doubt they\'ll ever have runaway success with their music.

A Perfect Circle rocks..Now, how about a new TOOL album, Maynard? Lord knows you don\'t need sleep.

My thoughts exactly.  I thought it would build up, in a much more similar way to Magdelena, so the chorus really hit you hard at the end, but it never did.  Still nice, though.  Really grows on you.

Classic Maynard lyrics, though they seem more "obvious" than some of his earlier stuff. Still, this is just one song and I would say it is one of the more accesiable lyric wise, espically for it to be the first single.

Just so you know, Billy Howerdell is the lyricist.  ;)

The new band line up seems pretty good, judging from one song. Very mature. It almost reminded me of some of the later songs on \'Mer De Noms\'. Mature and more mellow.

Yup.  Although I\'ll miss Paz.  She was so darn cute.  :(

As for the future, Carey is confident that fans won’t be left destitute for another five years. In fact, Tool already has an album’s worth of undeveloped material leftover from Lateralus. "I could see the next record coming in two or three years," he says, "unless we take on something huge, like try to do the next Wall. Which is a possibility... I think we’re the ones to step up and do that."
