When i bring the brightness in my monitor down to under (not including) 58 (ther are no units just numbers) a high pitched whining sound starts and dissappers when i put it back past 57.
This is annoying at night because it is darker so i need to put the brightness of the monitor down =[
Monitor details: Samsung SyncMaster 151s (flatscreen)
Help me!! =]

This one kicks ass, its just this one annoying thing =]
Or do i need to take it back to the shop and ask for another one?
-
Never liked the brand Samsung...
-
thats not helping, i emailed them and got no resapnse so i\'ll call them 2morrow and hopefully get an upgrade if they have to replace it =]

is this the TFT flatpanel type? if so try changing the frequency of the monitor usually at 1024*768 the frequency is 85hz i think for a flat panel its 100hz but i\'m not so sure, so right click on the desktop> properties > settings> advanced > monitor> then check the frequency if its low like 60hz make it 85 hz.

I have a 17" TFT tyrant and if I increase the frequency on mine from 60hz to 72 or 85, the picture goes kind of fuzzy and has a washed out look to it.

the monitor is dodge.. replace it

My wife always whines when I turn the AC down to 58. I may just have to take Poltiepet\'s advice. ;)

Same with me, i dont get the option of 85 Hz though the highest is 75Hz, I e-mailed Samsung a few days ago but i have got no response yet - so i may have to phone them.

It simply means that is the highest refresh rate ur monitor can support at that resolution.
However, MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE MONITOR drivers!!! if u r using the default Plug and Play drivers, than you won\'t get the highest refresh rate supported by ur monitor.
I just bought a new Samsung 17" 765MB and before I install the drivers, i only get 75 Hz at 1024 x768. After installing the drivers, i get 100Hz!!!! Whoooooaaaaa!!!
of course, ur VGA card should also support those refresh rate/resolutions as well. But i think most modern VGA cards (like last 2 years) already can go very high refresh rate/resolutions.
