It was going to be scrapped anyway, but 9 crewmen might have died (1 has been saved). :(

I thought this wasn\'t going to happen again after the kursk disaster of a few years ago. :(

Russias got to maintain their military warships a little better. It seems that they always have problems with their nuclear subs. Maybe they should make a new design? Anyone else hear that they are developing a new MiG fighter? I read it when doing a report on the MiG-15.

The sub had been in the docks for several years, waiting to be scrapped, thats why it was in such a bad condition.

But I agree, the navy is in pretty bad shape.

I think they are pretty robust, its just that maintenance is a problem.

Like their fighters, SUs and MIGs.. They are very very robust, can take off on "not to clean" runways, while other fighters need the runway to be vacuum cleaned before takeoff ;)

True. Both theirs and the US\'s militarys are a lot alike, navy wise. We kept some WWII warships up until like the early 90s. One such example is the USS New Jersey. We have new classes now but they\'ll be there to stay. Same with our airforces. We still use the 1950s B-52 and have no plans on retiring it. Just upgrade and maintain. Russia still uses many older model MiGs and bombers.

The New Jersey is a pretty cool ship I saw it last summer when I was in Philly.  It was hot as hell and out of my family - my dad grandmother and I were the only ones to make it through the full tour.
