Title: Smoking...
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on August 31, 2003, 08:48:54 PM
I watched a show called 60 minutes last night and a segment they had on it was about smoking, a lot of countrys are starting ot ban it fully from everywhere but private home use.

I was just wonder who here smokes and would you be pissed off if it happened in your country too?

I personally don\'t smoke. So it doesn\'t bother me either way.

I hate smoking. Does nothing for me, you look ghey and you taste ghey (for all those ladie smokers). Bad teeth isnt always uncommon either. And on top of all that, teen smokers really piss me the F*ck off and if i could id beat every last one of them down and then turn them into the police for smoking underage.

Thank you. Vote for me;)

At my high school it was actually considered "uncool" to smoke and we all made fun of the smokers... now thats the way it should be!

My mom told be that when she was in highschool you couldnt be considered cool unless you smoked.

I don\'t smoke, and I never would...

except the reefer, if it were legal.  Since it isn\'t, I don\'t.

However I would never smoke tobacco for any reason.  People who say they can\'t quit are rather stupid, in my opinion.  I think if something was killing me, I could quit it.  In fact, I\'d like to take up smoking just to prove to smokers how easy it is to quit.  But I don\'t feel like it, so they\'ll just have to take my word for it.  :)

I\'ve never smoked myself, but my dad used to smoke like a chimney, until he had a stroke that is. The docs told him that it was through him smoking as much as he did.

He always said he would never stop smoking, and that it would never cause him any side effects. I guess people will always choose to think that it will never happen to them.

(1) I don\'t smoke, but most in my family do. Though, my mom recently quit.

(2) I\'m torn on it. I don\'t think the goverment should have the right to tell us when and where we can smoke - but at the same time, I hate smoking and second hand smoke is a proven problem.

When it come\'s to a business area , I think it should be up to the owner or company to decide on smoking policys and how they will handle the smoking / non-smoking . It should not be the goverment. Honestly, people have enough sense to know if there is a place where people are allowed to smoke, and they dissapprove of smoking - then not to go in there. They don\'t need the goverment censoring everything.

(3) I don\'t use pot either, but give me a break. Pot got a bad reputation because of the goverment. It is no worse for you then alcohol. Infact, it is less dangerous. Have you ever heard of someone overdosing on pot? No. Typically, are people violent when on pot? No. Does pot kill your liver over time? No. Does alcohol have any medical use for cancer patients and so on? No.  Who is goin\' to be driving faster, the man drinking or the man smoking pot?

The only reason pot got a bad reputation is due to the goverment having problems taxing it. If they could tax it easily, they would. They can tax alochol - there for it\'s A-OK.

Haven\'t smoked reef in about a month... it\'s sorta hard to get around

If only they made it Legal in the UK, put a tax on it and sell it along the same lines as Drink and smokes.

If it was made legal then there should be the same control\'s as there is on Drink as POT can dull the reflexes.

other than that it should be up to the individual whether or not he/she should smoke it.

I am a smoker. I used to smoke 10-15 per day, now it\'s up to about 20. I smoke anything from Silk Cut Ultras to filterless Capstans and Camel, if it\'s got nicotine I\'ll smoke it.

I watched my Aunt and Gran die of lung cancer but was already a smoker, it probably wouldn\'t have stopped me anyway.

I also love a spliff (actually, many spliffs). I average about 1/3 oz per weekend on my own although depending how long I spend gaming can stretch to 1oz per weekend (Damn you Morrowind!).

My respect for the law is at an all time low so I say f*ck it, if I\'m out and about and fancy a joint I\'ll create and smoke one, anyone that rips into me for it can f_ck off as I\'m not hurting anyone but myself.

One of my pet hates is to be told things more than once, every time I buy ciggies I get more annoyed about the VERY LARGE WARNINGS TELLING ME THINGS I KNEW 10 YEARS AGO WHEN I STARTED! I\'ll be pissed if they try and stop me smoking outside, anywhere, unless it\'s in a football stadium or some other stadium type event that I\'ve payed to get into, I don\'t mind so much about non smoking restaurants, I\'ll just stand outside or wait until the bill\'s settled.

I can see the non-smokers point, it isn\'t nice if you don\'t smoke, but it can\'t just be banned from everywhere. They\'re talking about it being banned in pubs now, I\'ll never go in a pub again as a smoker if I\'m not allowed to light up. There are three things in a pub that are important, the pint, the pool table and the cigarette.

Smoking has been banned inside restaurants where I live, however you can still smoke outside and oddly enough right by the entrance.

I\'ve always been against smoking, I make fun of my friends who smoke on a regular basis.  If I\'m driving I also won\'t let them smoke in my car and I won\'t stop for their filthy smoke breaks.  My clothes always wreak after a night out with them...I hate it!

We recently went to Universal Studios and Disney World, they stopped at every single smoke area...it was like every 20 minutes, that\'s pathetic.

I don\'t even make friends with people who smoke anymore...an acquantince maybe, but nobody I would hang out with.  I like to workout, run, bike, swim etc...they CAN\'T do any of those things because they get exhausted.

Honestly, the thought of inhaling smoke is just gross.

My feelings on smoking are like this.  You smoke, I lose respect for you, especially if your a teen smoker.  It\'s a nasty habit, and a proven cause of lung cancer (among others).  Again, I don\'t try and stop people, and bitch to them about stopping because its their decision.

My feeling is that smoking is a nasty habit, sue me.

I\'m not a passive smoker but like mm said,it is hard to quit cause when you have just one ciggie,it starts the craving off and I have to have more.
But yeah I\'ve been a smoker since I was 13 and I\'ve smoked pot for 3 years but I do it through choice and not peer pressure as I seem to see kids go through these days.

Banning Smoking?that would be sooo stupid!

mm I agree with you,but you all make good points.

I smoke weed, when I\'m stressed or I just feel the need to relax.

I smoke cigarettes cause It relaxes me,I am addicted and want to quit, but If I go into a pub and someone lights up,it drives me crazy if I don\'t have any cigarettes in my pocket.

So to all you smokers here...how many a day or week do you smoke, and how much weed do you smoke and when?

there\'s a saying in spanish that says: you can if you want. If you\'re really interested in giving up that shit of weed and cigarretes, you can. Of course if you\'re an addict, it won\'t be easy at the beginning, but you will.

I agree but believe me,it\'s scary...I tried to quit once and I was such a nasty person,I just felt horible.
I was working out at the gym twice as hard to try and take my mind of it and I was stressed irritable and it was tough cause at the time I was depressed and suicidal anyway due to some serious problems.

I smoke now because I just have the taste and I\'d be angry for a while if I tried to quit...As long as god is my witness I will quit.

Doesn\'t it piss you off that an addictive drug legally sold to you by a corporation, and taxed by your government is doing that to you?  If I was addicted to nicotine, and I tried to quit, and it made me feel like crap, I would be doubly angry at what they had done to me.  I think I would have no problem finding the power to quit out of spite.

I dont smoke. I dont\' think I\'ll smoke anything except cigars on special occasions like a birth or something. But my grandfather smoked for like 40+ years, never had a health problem and quit cold turkey. He said he\'d stop and he did, never touched it again. My great grandfather was the same. Meh. I generally wouldnt date a gurl that smokes but if she is intelligent and has a great personality i can cope with it as long as she doesnt blow that shit in my face.

Anyway, on the subject of the herb, i have been known to do a little every now and again. Last time was about a month or two ago. And as LIC has said, the gov\'t gives it a bad rep. Im not endorsing it, but the level that i smoke weed compared to the level that most smoke cigarettes is quite small.

Its just like alcohol in many respects. You can get really smiley depending on your toleration and overconsumption can lead to no so great results but as most of you know, more people die of cigarettes and alcohol than weed any day.  Its all about moderation.

Smoking- jesus its ****ing nasty..

I guess people that smoke just dont see that they are ruining their life. Sure they will just say "Its my life", or "its hard to quit" but all in all, they are just doing it because they have nothing else to do. Its pathetic, you spend so much money on a pack of cigs, then smoke it for 5 minutes, and take time off of your life, the seconds that matter.

Anyway- I think smoking should be legal, but those dumbasses who do it, should also know what happens to their bodies.

i quit somking 3 years ago. i was somking a pack per day. i smoke pot occasionaly (read 3-4 per year) since last 5 year.

smoking where i live is only permited in restricted area. even in clubs and restaurants, shopping center .. It\'s now "tolerated" to carry pot on you if the amount is under 28 grams; and/or your pot is seperated in bags (ex: you have 7 grams each seperate in grams) wich would mean you could be accuse of selling it; whatever.  very stupid, you can carry, you can smoke it in your house, but no one is allowed to sell it.

Since i quit, the smell of smoke really seem to stink more, but it doesnt really bother me that much. when i go to restaurant, i sit either in the smokers area or non-smokers area, i just dont want to wait. 1st open spot is mine :p

The 2 things that really bother me with cigarrettes to the point of frustration is:

I\'m a social smoker. But I\'m not addicted to it. So, since there is no option for this, I\'m not a smoker nor a non-smoker (since techinically, I smoke about a pack of cigs in about 12 months)

I\'m addicted, that\'s my excuse. I have to smoke at certain times or with a certain frequency to stop myself becoming the Hulk with a hangover.

What\'s your excuse for part-timing it GMan, it can\'t be the taste or smell?

(don\'t make me quit, you wouldn\'t like me if I quit)

Not for taste for sure. I gotta have a candy or gum while I smoke. I do like the relaxing feeling I get from a good head rush (nicotine :D ).

Smoking sucks... and I have smoked cigs for 15 years.  I have tried to quit numerous times and have always relapsed.  The only reason I still smoke is because if I try and quit I become like Green Meanie... I get angry because I am addicted to nicotine.  I smoke about 15 cigs a day and have pretty much stayed on that level.  They say the addiction is harder to kick than most hard drugs (ie. crack, heroine, etc.)

back to the point people.

it\'s easy for some non smoker to say "quit smoking" but it\'s hell.

My girlfriend at the time, was a smoker and we tried together but we just argued and argued and nearly split up but stuck together.

Smoking to me is a comfort and i sit there and it relaxes me and I just feel chilled out and happy.

I know it\'s hurting my body but I feel like there\'s no going back and I know I will quit soon, but you have to realise that it takes time and it\'s hard qutting because if you have been smoking for years you get used to it and attched and it\'s hard to just let go.

I usually have chewing gum with me too.

As for pot,I smoke it through a bong and a spliff and either way,it relaxes me and I just forget about everything else and I just love the feeling afterwards.
It\'s not clever, but it\'s legal (in some parts of the world) and you just get that rush and that taste, just like cigarettes and it\'s a great feeling.
But don\'t get me wrong,I don\'t condone it,but I like it and yes, when the time is right I WILL quit.

as coredweller said

"Some studies have concluded that drinking alcohol in small amounts is beneficial to your overall health. The same cannot be said for smoking tobacco."

Many stories done on people who are real old seem to have a common theme.  So many of them drink a glass of alcohol every night.

I did for a while to help myself go to sleep, but I stopped.  I still couldn\'t sleep and I was drinking a beer for really no reason.

Mary Jane helps in counteracting all of chemotherapy\'s side affect like nausea, pain and lack of hunger. In fact, all of Mary Jane\'s side affect completely overwhelms the side affect of chemo.

They get hungry (which sustains health)

It counter acts nausea (a good thing since your body needs all the nutrients it can get)

Dulls the pain of chemo (chemo was described to me as someone taking a screw driver and prying your joints apart with it).

it\'s illegal in all states except some allow it for medicinal prescription use
Title: Smoking...

Still technically illegal in all states for any purpose because it\'s a violation of federal law.  I think that contradition has not been resolved yet.

BTW, do 26% of PSX2Central members actually smoke?  That seems really high.  WHAT\'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?  :p

It could mean anything from tobacco, nicotine, pot, etc.

Pot isnt nesscarrily bad for you- except the price, and the illegality of it.

Right now in Canada there is a vacuum of law surrounding it.  In Ontario the attorney general has instructed all police to stop charging people for possession of small amounts (under 15 grams), and just take it away if they smoke in public.

Cheesecake-buzz, new CD\'s, new games, new books, new clothes, day at the movies, ice cream from Cold Stone, a day out with my sweetie, going out to the city and buying souvenirs, stocks, stationary, pins at Hot Topic, posters, and just the fact that there\'s money in my pocket while I\'m at the mall.

(I can list more stuff.  ;)  )

Your post made absolutely no sense and thus I must conclude that you made it while high and thus there is a fallacy in your argument.

With as much that weed gives you, it takes an equal amount away.
