..who cant play real games. But, after having played Munch\'s Oddysee, Crash Bandicoot and Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets, I\'m starting to think maybe I\'ve missed out on a ton of great games now. These games have great characters, stories and graphics. Now I want to play more! Some of the following aren’t out yet, but all of these are ones I\'m interested in. Any recommendations?
1. I-Ninja (http://www.ininjagame.com/)
2. Rachet & Clank (http://www.ratchetandclankgadgets.com/#)
3. Sly Cooper: Thevious Racoonus (http://www.us.playstation.com/games/SCUS-97198/)
4. The Hobbit (http://cube.ign.com/objects/477/477444.html?ui=gamefinder)
5. Zelda (http://www.zelda.com/)
6. Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly (http://www.spyrothedragon.com/)

Uh, platformers are like any other genre as far as difficulty goes. :) Zelda isn\'t a platformer, either.
Since it sounds like you have a GameCube, might I suggest Super Mario Sunshine. My pick for best platformer this generation, albeit there have been a lot of competitors for that title. Jak and Daxter is a must-have. Both games are now down in price, J&D retailing for no more than $20 and Nintendo just dropped SMS to $30.
-
Jak and Daxter owns all. J&D II is due out on Oct. 14th:D
Ratchet and Clank is pretty good but feels a bit boring after a while...maybe it was just me. It\'s 20$ now so you can\'t go wrong.
Mario Sunshine is awesome but a bit difficult if you plan on getting all the shines.
I did not like Sly Cooper...a rental, IMO.
You could also check out Vexx...it\'s decent.

As opposed to what? Grand Theft Auto? Platformers are an actual genre, with actual great games and I would say, those and shooters (NOT FPS!) are the "real games". Espically the old platformers / shooters, that required thought / skill and reflexes all in one.

Shooters:
ThunderForce 3 & 4
Gradius (all)
Raiden I & II (was ok)
Einhander
Hellfire
Blazing Lazers (not the best but a personal fav)
That game with the fighters from all the diff countries with different abilities (forgot the name obviously)
a crap load more just cant think.

If he owns only a PS2 HE SHOULD AVOID THE PS2 VERSION LIKE THE PLAGUE!
It sucks. The controls are sh!t, the graphics are sh!T, the framerate is sh!t.
Better own the XBOX version

I didn\'t play the Xbox version, but the GC version played just fine. The controls are quite comfortable.
-
Yeap the GC version is also good from what I ve heard. But for god\'s sakes couldnt they have made the PS2 version look like a PS2 game?It looks too PSX.
-
Jak and Daxter is an essential purchase if you like platformers. The sequel is just around the corner and looks even better.
-
Actually, my GC came with Super Mario Sunshine. I played it for a little while but then just had too many other games to finish and ended up trading it in for something else. It was a cool game, but I just couldn\'t get into it like I could with others, like Munch\'s Oddysee. What about I-Ninja? That one looks like a lot of fun to me;

Sly cooper is "fun" to play but really to easy. the slow down hurt but the story over all is good. 10 hours play, nice week-end rental.
the real platformer like L-i-c said or the old 2d\'s. any megaman and contra and your set for a real learning :p

Wow, I\'m so damn happy that someone else here played Einhander, I could piss myself...that game ruled, and no one seems to have heard of it. I\'m stoked for the new Gradius when it comes out, too. The shooters are just so addictive, and they are truly a lost art.
-
Einhander was that game made from Square?
-
aye.. kick ass shooter with very nice gameply/graphic for PSX. but like any shooter, it\'s for hardcore player. difficulty was set really high !
another square game that could be classified i supposed as platformer (although more action RPG) brave fencer musashi. awesome game :D
-
i ve heard good things about it but I ve only seen it in magazines.Too bad I ve never seen it in real life or playied it.Its a non-existent title in my country.I really wanted to try it.That and anoher square title Front Mission Alternative.
-
BF:M was alright. I didnt get a chance to play it for so long but it was ok for the time i played it. But yeah, I love shooters. They required true skill.
-
^^^^^
Classify skill. Being able to decide how to equip a character in an RPG is a skill. Being able to memorize when enemies come at you on a shooter is another skill. Bah, I just don\'t like the fact that your definition of true skill is considered twitch mechanics versus something that requires strategy not being mentioned. To each his/her own I guess.

Shooters?
Silpheed (Sega CD / PS2)
Ikaruga
Radiant Silvergun

I knew somebody was going to say something like this. It does take true skill. I never said that all those other genres didnt. And its not all twitch factor because to control it to the point where you can move and shoot and equip things throughout the entire game takes SKILL. Not to mention upgrading some of your weapons. Sheesh. Relax
LIC i totally forgot about those. Thnx

There was one DC shooter i liked a lot.I cant remember the name of that title.
You ship could shift into two forms.A red colored one and a white one.Enemies shooting red projectiles couldnt harm you when your ship took the red form while enemies shooting white projectiles couldnt harm your white form.Instead your red form absorbed the red projectiles and vise versa giving you the ability to unleash a powerfull attack to your enemies.
