Title: Can someone explain to me what NORAD is?
Post by: ##RaCeR## on September 10, 2003, 04:11:38 PM
I know its the North American Aerospace Defense Command, but what is it exactly?

Do they have special weapons or something or what to shoot down planes?

Honestly, you complain we make jokes about you being gay, but you tell us stories of showering with guys / have a quote that says "eat the meat" and now I see semi-naked men for an avatar...Why do you think we get the impression you are gay, eh?

Oh and Norad..that\'s uhm..that\'s that one thing..

It\'s one of those deals where you tell someone they\'re stupid long enough, and they start to believe it...

or maybe not, who knows?

It\'s some scary stupid stuff we did in the 60\'s and 70\'s. Like blowing up nukes 300 miles above the north pole to see what would happen. Crazy stuff happened during that time but no one is really sure. I\'ll get the info. There\'s a conspiracy junkie I know who has links to NORAD\'s crazy stunts.

NORAD would be where our military forces are commanded from in the event of a global thermonuclear war.  It\'s buries deep into the Colorado mountains and can sustain a direct hit from an ICBM if need be.  When the facility was built, it was meant to be kept as a huge secret during the cold war, but as technologies advanced including nuclear warheads that were capable of piercing a few hundred feet into the ground before detonation, it didn\'t really matter.  The only places that are safe from nuclear weapons are the catacombs underneath Washington DC where the president would scurry off to in the event of a nuclear attack.  Rumor has it, those things are built similar to the tunnel networks in the Egyptian pyramids where the security is super tight for one thing, but actually finding the command center would take hundreds of hours if you don\'t know your way around since there are many dead ends and misleading corridors.
