Who else picked up \'A Perfect Circle\'s new cd?
I remember when the \'A Perect Circle\' released \'Mer De Noms\' I loved the album, but my opinion on it was that it came across as a less focused Tool effort. Still, the album got a lot of play in my cd player at home and in the car. It had some great songs. Now after waiting all this time , their newest album out. Wow, what do I have to say? This album is amazing. It is a lot more focused and the band has obviously matured. It\'s slower, but it\'s also more progressive than the previous effort.
A lot of these songs blend together perfectly, but a few stand out , namely \'The Package\', \'The Outsider\' and \'Noose\'. Oddly enough, out of those songs the only one I see being a possible single is \'The Outsider\' and that\'s a far-fetch. You can tell the album was meant to be listened to completely, and not as a bunch of possible radio singles.
Brave and progressive album.

I was expecting it to be much more progressive than the last..

It\'s more mature. Some of the tracks don\'t rock you hard, but they aren\'t meant to. It\'s more moody, with songs like \'The Nurse who Loved Me\' and \'Noose\'. Still, when they do kick it into high gear, you\'ll be smiling ear from ear, at least I know I do.
I have to say my only complaint really is the fact it\'s short (12 tracks) and two of those really are filler-tracks in my opinion, and those are \'Blue\' and \'The Vanishing\'.
I think you\'ll really dig \'The Package\' as it starts off mellow and then all of a sudden hits you extremely hard .
Somewhat off-topic, but still APC related, have you had a chance to listen to the \'Weak and Powerless (Tilling my own grave mix)\' remix off of the \'Underworld\' soundtrack? I picked that up last Sunday and it\'s a lot harder. It\'s almost as if they recorded two different versions and wasn\'t sure which to put on the album.
And while I prefer the remix, I can safely say it would of hurt the flow of the actual album.

No, I\'ll have to check that one out. I\'ve always thought the song needed to add a bit more power.

I would say that after another listen, the song \'Noose\' is now my favorite APC song, which means a lot, when you compare that my previous favorite was \'3 Libra\'s .
God, I love this album. I will have to catch them on tour sometime.

i bought it about a week ago.... only listened to it once and wast too excited... but everyone I talk to says it really grows on you so ill give it some more listens
The more important point is that I have finally gave Tool\'s Aenima a chance...
....OMG!.... why am I only now listening to this Masterpiece!?
You guys should have told me how great it was :p

I sometimes download a CD before it comes out if it is one by my favorite bands, but then, of course I also buy it the day it is released...

Why the hell did you only just start listening to Aenima now?

Bleh, the only Tool song that\'s as good as any of the songs on Lateralus is the live version of Pushit. :) IMO, of course.
Not to say I think Undertow and Aenima are bad, but Lateralus is by far my favorite albumn of all time. :)

wow, you\'re the first person Ive heard who has said that lateralus was better than Aenima...guess I\'ll check that out next!

If it helps, most of my friends agree. But you should be warned it\'s very different. Songs are longer, more in depth, it\'s slightly more melodic, and heavier at the same time! It also takes a while to grow on you. But every track is a masterpiece. :)

It is true. It is an AMAZING CD. It truly is.
Undertow just fits more into my prefence of musical tones. Lateralus is 100% just as good, its just if I could only listen to one- it would be Undertow, just because it was the first tool CD I ever owned.

Awesome, awesome stuff.
The Package, Noose, Blue, The Outsider, Pet.. lots of really good stuff on this albumn.
It actually reminds me a lot of Amnesiac by Radiohead (minus the electronica). Guess that\'s why it\'s getting some average reviews. People just don\'t get it. *shrugs*

Parental Advisory CD\'s usually get a drop in ratings- because that sticker just points out "Bad words". Its a judgemental thing.
