Title: MOBO installation question
Post by: KillaX on September 24, 2003, 08:42:02 AM
I just bought a Gigabyte K7 Triton GA7N400 Pro MOBO, a AMD Athlon XP 2500 333MHZ processor and 256MB of 333MHZ DDR memory and I am putting it in on my own.   what should I do BEFORE I install it?????  I have a Soundblaster Audigy MP3+, an ATI Radeon 9700Pro, a nework card in there right now.  what files should I back up just in case????

Most likely you are going to have to wipe the hard drive anyway.  Definitely if you are running XP as it doesn\'t like major hardware changes.  Besides doing a clean install of windows will make your system run better with the new hardware you are installing even if it managed to run after you upgraded.

well.......the worst has happened, the board didnt fit the case so I took it to the experts and XP didnt like it at all and wouldnt even boot to safe mode.....sooooooo I had to buy ANOTHER version of XP pro due to the people who put the first OEM version in didnt give me a key or a cd....I hope they can get all the data possible off of HD before re-installing the OS....DARN BILL GATES DARN HIM TO HECK!  (I am not in the mood to cuss right now)

in Hindsight.....maybe I shoulld have backed up the stuff I needed to keep.........
