Why did Squaresoft named the series Final Fantasy in the first place?
-
I think it had to do with the company being pretty bad off and the game they were making would be their last. History is made...
-
Correct, they were actually on the verge of banckruptcy so this was intended to be their last RPG. It turned out to be their saviour instead.
(google is a wonderful thing):D
-
That means they were even luckier than we think.I mean....the first Final Fantasy was supposed to be one autotelic story because of its unsure future.A self existent game which was final. No sequels. That and the title Final Fantasy set each Final Fantasy to be a separate story in a separate world with its own characters. That kept the series fresh.Nice.
Actually I wonder why we should call it a series. The title stands only for the quality and the gameplay\'s general style being an evolution of the first final fantasy now.

I thought it was first called Fantasy Star
-
You\'re thinking of Phantasy Star from th\' Sega Master System.
Developed by Sega, and it has 3 sequels and a spinoff now. (PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS-Online)
-
Actually, there are more Phantasy Stars than that and 3 is not really a sequel to 2...
-
I loved the old Phantasy Stars when i was a little bit younger. Great times with that. Now all i have are the roms : (
-
wow!... cool piece of history!
-
They should have renamed it after the second one...
