That\'s stupid, most computer literate people know the vast majority of keyboard shortcuts etc.

Every computer litterate person I know has the autorun disabled anyways... it\'s just eating up some more computer time anyways.  The sad thing is, they might win, cause most judges don\'t know anything about technology, and they always seem to rule against the geeks...

As much as I disagree with piracy and what  not, this is a frivlious law-suit if I have ever heard of one.

First off, it\'s the user\'s computer. He has the right to know what is going on his computer and he also has the right to disable any features he does not want active at any given moment. You can say he is bypassing copyright protection - but come on, maybe someone doesn\'t want it to autorun the installer? Maybe people want to know what is going on with their computer? If they win this lawsuit (and I doubt it) then expect a lot more stupid lawsuits in the same vein.

Plain and simple: The  owner of the given computer has the right to disable features. He / She has the right to know what is being installed. If the company wants to make a secure copyright protection, that\'s fine. However, don\'t complain when you come up with something so simple and stupid and the common user can disable it with one finger.

The $10 million SunnComm is suing for is not for piracy, it\'s for revealing the inadequacy in SunnComm\'s "product" (the anti-piracy scheme they invented) and thus making their product worthless and devaluing their company.  Last I heard, there was no law against circulating information about shoddy products.

I don\'t think this falls under DMCA, and I\'m sure Alex Halderman\'s defense attorney will easily blow their claim out of the water.  The fact that other operating systems don\'t even pay attention to the autorun.ini file should help his case.  I hope he can afford an attorney.

EDIT:  Oh yeah, lawsuit withdrawn.
