I read a thread from on a Danish hardware forum, about a guy who bought A Perfect Cicle\'s newest CD. It said that it was copy protected, but since he didn\'t plan on copying the CD, it didn\'t matter.
Here\'s the irony. The CD wouldn\'t play in his $500 Marantz CD player... he had to make a copy of it (because that is easily done even though it\'s supposed to be protected  ) and THEN he could play the copy!
How stupid is that.

VERY.. :D

So much for the copy protection then. :D
-
I wonder if my scanner could copy that CD. :p
-
this is a known problem with newer copy protection technologies
-
if copy protection is software, it can be passed. If it\'s hardware, it can be modded. Doesn\'t surprise me.
-
Been known for awhile. The earliest cd\'s like that had the same problem.
Though I don\'t recall my new APC having copyright protection? I know this because I copied the entire cd to my computer, the day I bought it. Like I do all my cds.

This thread proves that the people that always already know every thing already know everything.

$500?
Right their its hilarious.
Jesus, mine costed about 100, and has every feature that thing probably has, except the cup holder.
-
Except.. it\'s not a Marantz. :) Most likely the Marantz will last a lot longer due to much better build quality and attention to detail. Plus the internal DACs are leaps & bounds better than 99% of other plays (should you need to use them).

I know that in my car\'s deck, Pioneer Priemere, that every once in a while a damned cd won\'t work. The little bitch also will only except one or two types of CD-R which is annoying, but makes up for it with the pretty screen savers that are fun to watch while driving.
BTW, stay out of my way when I\'m on the road.

Um, you know? Some people like a little thing called ... quality. He was probably a guy who\'s into hifi. Hence the reason he didn\'t use a $100 player.

*caresses Marantz hi-fi system*

It wasn\'t for his car either.
