Post by: politiepet on October 17, 2003, 11:07:21 AM
well, since that price drop to 99,95 euro\'s I couldn\'t resist....

I was wondering if you (knowledgable ;)) people could list me a couple games that are worth purchasing, thanks...

Well.....my first pik would be

Pikmin

Resident Evil Remake

Zelda

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 - it\'s addictive. Get this over Mario Golf

Metroid Prime (it\'s not just a shooter)

Overhyped? If anything, it\'s overrated. Two different things, those.. :) I\'d say it was underhyped.

Nobody thought it would be good considering Retro\'s internal problems, nevermind the fact that it abandoned the classic side-scrolling action in an unprecedented change to *gasp* first-person! :)

Metroid Prime had everything going against it, and in the end came out as the best game of 2002. I doubted it, everybody did.. but after putting 30 hours into it (beat it on Easy, got everything, then got halfway through Hard) I must say that MP is the definitive Nintendo game. It is probably not the first game you should try with your shiny new GameCube.. most everything else on the system might not look quite as keen once you\'ve experienced this game.

Meh, now I might really be overrating it.. heh.. there are actually a few other instant classics on the \'Cube that are right up there with MP.. but still.. I gotta say that Metroid Prime is probably the best of the bunch.

So polished, so pretty.. very fun and surprisingly long considering the length of Super Metroid*.

* in my experience, 8hrs SM vs 25hrs MP first time through

well I bought soul calibur II with it, I\'m mostly looking for games that aren\'t too deep. I mean I want to be able to play them for short bursts of time, I\'m a bit tired of games that require deep involvement, so if anyone can suggest me some.

oh and I want to be able to play them by myself, so not to much multiplayergames ;)

Yeah, get Starwars Rebel Strike. Btw, is it € 99 in most of the Netherlands now ? Also at Dixons and Bart Smit ?

Wave Race: Blue Storm will give you some fun for about a week or two...and you can most likely find it for 20$ or under.  (got mine brand new for 8$)

I also recommend F-Zero...however, you will get involved and most likely spend lots of time completing some circuits.

Zelda and Metroid are must-haves...if you own a cube, you might as well play the GOTY 2002(Metroid) and probably the best game of 2003 (Zelda).

Super Monkey Ball (Either one, but maybe for single player I\'d recommend the first one.)

Pikmin

F-Zero GX

Animal Crossing

And, even though it\'s a bit deeper than it seems you\'re looking for, I\'d be lying if I didn\'t recommend Eternal Darkness.

Those are some good, exclusive, short-attention-span, single-player games. Monkey Ball and F-Zero are multi-player too, tho.

I to reciently got a GameCube and i\'m pretty impressed with the little sucker. The games I got are Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX, both of which have excellent graphics and gameplay. If you\'re interested, ebay has some great auctions going on for accories like controllers, memory cards, and even games. Other games on my "must have" list are:

Super Smash Bros: Malee
The next mario kart (due out Novermber 15th i believe)
Zelda
Madden \'04
Super Mario Sunshine looks fun too.

Frustrating? You must be referring to the platforming levels.. yes.. yes.. they take practice and skill.

If Nintendo knew what they were doing, they\'d make a game was just those plain platforming levels.. complete with a random map generator and map editor. I\'d play it daily.

Those platform levels were my fav part of the game.

I actually liked everything about sunshine, I\'d give it a 9.5. But that was the first time I played mario in 3d for more than an hour.

Sunshine didn\'t do much for me.  It was fun, but the objectives for completing everything were tedious and I liked that the first one was done on a smaller scale.  Wandering aimlessly over vast areas looking for coins sucks some of the fun out of the game for me.

Worth a purchase at a discounted price. See what it runs for, that\'s my advice.

this rebirth game....is it the remake of the first installment? I can\'t keep them apart anymore :(

RE:Rebirth is a remake, and IMO a replacement of the first game. If you like the RE series, Rebirth is a must-have.

Hell, if you have a GCN and don\'t despise survival horror.. it\'s a must-have. Nicely polished game.

I bought Def Jam VenDetta but then you problably have it for PS2.  Pitty you don\'t really want multiplayer games, Mario Party 4 (and 5 is now out) is a bunch of small games packed into one package.  So, if you want a quick shot at a highly addictive game I will recommend it... and you can only get it on the GameCube:D , so it makes sense!!
