Just came back from the screening
Guys this movie can be described with two words:
1.)HOLY
2.)SHIT...
How do you use the spoiler thing?
-
Holly shit in a good way or a bad way?
-
GOOD WAY.
Man, I wish I could tell you the plot but I don\'t know how to use them spoiler things.
-
I don\'t want to know yet... But tell me this...
Is it completely unexpected?
-
Crap...I just bought tickets for myself and 4 friends. I CAN\'T WAIT!!!!!
Same question as MP...0_o
-
So its better than Reloaded?
-
IT WAS UNEXPECTED.
A couple of days back I had read a review of it by accident because a jack ass friend tried to ruin it for me. But, it was still unexpected.
Best Movie EVER!!! The ending beautiful. It picks up pretty quick and the acting is really good. Remember how we were discussing how it is all going to end? Well, all those questions are answered. EVERYSINGLE question we had: what will happen to zion? What would the humans do with the messed up world? they are all answered by the end.
sooo Here\'s most of the story
Beginning:
[sp] Pretty fast pick up. We do get about 5 minutes of replay, but the beginning is really good. Neo is trapped between the real world and the matrix. That place is this train station and he meets this really cool indian guy. We meet a few characters, the Train Man. This hobbo dude works for the french guy and he trasports illegally the programs from the matrix and out of the matrix. Trinity, Seriph and Morpheous go to find the french guy at this club and he wants the oracles eyes in exchange for Neo. Ohh but before that part is one of the coolest shooting scenes ever. The dude\'s walk on the ceiling, its sooo cool. But, anyways trinity gets pissed off and makes the deal her own way. Youll see what i mean. Neo is out he gets to see the oracle and the oracle answeres alot of questions we all had. [/sp]
Middle:
[sp] The destruction of zion. The whole scene of the machines attacking and destroying everything is breathtaking. Agent smith takes over the oracle, you know with his stabbin of the person trick and messes up the matrix really bad. And pretty much the middle is the whole zion being torn apart thing. Morpheous and niobe are on their way to zion with the last ship and the gate woulnt open and the dude that kisses ass to neo, remember the kid he saved, opens up the door and they blow their EMP and all the squiddies die they all think its cool but a crap load more come and revive the diggin machines, who the people thought had been destroyed, the diggin machines were not only to get into zion, but to reach the level where all the people hid, remember the cave? but the machines suddenly stop.It\'s amazing.
End:
[sp] neo goes to the machine city with trinity. His eyes were burned when he was fighting smith in the real world. remember that guy he took over. but he can see the machines like ghost or something. Newayz the city sends a full blown attack and neo blows it all up. But he starts losing control and he tells trinity to go over the sky, she does and for 10 seconds they are above the sky and the sun...yes the sun and the sky like we see it is still the same, trinity is really overtaken by the sight. Then they fall back down, and they crash.....Trinity dies. Really sad. Neo goes to see the main dude, and tells him he would destroy smith for peace, bc smith will not only destroy the matrix, but he would also destroy their city. So the main dude calls off the attack and awaits for neo to finish smith. The fight...it\'s awsome. Smith makes the matrix seem all dark and rainy, and he asks neo " do you like what i did with the place?" then they get it on, it\'s the shiznit. The fight is like nothing ive ever seen. Smith really wins the fight though. but when he ate the oracle, he got her powers too, and he saw himself winning, but he freaked out again with neo stood up for the 3rd time, and he did the takin over thing with his hand to neo. and he succeeds. smith turns neo into a smith. But then neo and the main computer of the machine city, destroy once again smith from the inside, first the one neo was turned into, then all the clones and then finally smith. and all this looked really bad ass. That fight scene is undescribable until you see it. Neo dies. the machine dude says "it is done" and leaves neo\'s body on the floor (with arms spread tot he sides, like jesus was on the cross) the machines are called off and there is peace. It ends with the architect sayin stuff like "how long do you think this peace will last" and all that good stuff. Then the sun rises. OHH but before the final scene with the architect, the matrix goes through a deja-vu and the city rebuilts itself you know, like it was before neo and smith fought. but yeah thats how it ends. I find the ending to be really fitting. It wasn\'t the humans completely takin over, but i mean like somebody once asked, what will they do if they do win earth back? But in this case there is peace and harmony between man and machine. And yet, if neo was the messiah, "jesus" then he did his job, he ended the war by giving up his own life. I think it was the best way to end this movie. DONT WORRY THIS IS JUST THE ICING, THERES ALOT MORE LEFT TO THIS CAKE!![/sp]
-
It was sad though. Yup, I mean I think all the matrix movies were great. and now its all over. I Don\'t think they will make a sequel. I mean if any of you are star wars fans, imagine when it\'s all over. It\'s a really weird feeling.
-
Hows the helicopter scene???
Apparently half of Sydney was shut down for a 20 min sequence, don\'t know how much actually made it into the film though.
-
..there was no helicopter scene.....
-
Damn it!!It is so tempting to highlight the spoilers!!!!
-
hahahahahah I know.. I didn\'t highlight! go me
-
Anyone who says this is the "best movie ever" is a damn moron.
Then again, I thought the original was just medicore, the second was downright terrible and expecting this to be worse. I\'ll go see it though.
-
But L-I-C.. its the best move since the last best move ever. (which according to most interweb geeks was matrix reloaded.. ;)
-
From RollingStone.com
At the risk of understatement, The Matrix Revolutions sucks.
:)

So true. See, that is the good thing about a series, when the original does extremely well. You are almost gurantee\'d to get the audience back, if the storyline continues and is coming to a finish. Take for example, the last two Star War films - almost everyone will agree they sucked the big one. However, almost everyone will also go and see the final one (Episode 3), because they want to know how it is goin\' to end . Same applies to The Matrix trilogy.

skipping matrix:revolutions
why do i want to go see a 2 hour commercial?
-
Me rikey action. Ya see, I\'m one of those types who can like crumpets and tea (classic movies) and still appreciate beer and pizza (flashy high action little substance movies).
And BTW....Lord of the Rings movie series is the best. Ever. I can say that my collection LOTR movies will have to bump Kurosawa towards the end of the shelf. Right next to Gone with the Wind and Papillon.
And BTW....if I want mm\'s opinion...I\'ll give it to him. :p
-
had my tix long time ago. Going tomorrow. :D

For the good acting and well written dialog.
But seriously, I just see it for the special effects....I\'m very shallow.

SPOILER: IT\'S A MATRIX INSIDE A MATRIX. KID IS REALLY "THE ONE" AND TRINITY AND NEO BECOME A COUPLE
Wanted to make sure I spoil it for those who didn\'t read the spoiler tags in Mystic posts.
-
But how does this involve Anakin Skywalker?
-
Edit: nevermind me!!!
-
I hate stupid people......
-
L-I-C... shaddup. Fake spoilers are just as bad and uncalled for as real spoilers, because now someone will say, "That doesn\'t happen" and it eliminates a possibility. Just keep your angst filled emotions in regards to popular movies, music, and women to yourself.
-
yea. :( now I know it ain\'t Matrix in a Matrix. Damn you LIC

You\'re like one of them kids that love to argue about the stuff everybody likes. Everybody likes blue, he hates it and loves red. Everybody likes ice cream, he hates it and loves vegetables.
The trilogy is great. There is no other trilogy that you can think off that had this kind of deep story. Even if it\'s not "original", If you think that people just like the special effects, well go back to the 1600\'s b/c now you can\'t see a movie that doesn\'t use them..
-
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/MatrixRevolutions-1127201/
Not looking good story-wise.
-
well what do u expect, they drained it (deh story)like a teenager does after a pimple growht.
:barf:
-
Actually the third movie leaves no questions left. All the questions that were left hanging from the first two are answered. The story is complete resolved on revolutions. Trust me
I just read the Rolling Stone Review and all I have to say is stick to hiring hot girls for the covers. They completely missed the whole point of the ending. Neo was never meant to destroy anything, he was the messiah, "Jesus", Jesus\' death didn\'t bring the destruction of something, it brought peace between humans and pardoned them for their sins. Neo did the same, he didn\'t destroy the enemy he made peace with them. I don\'t think they hinted for any other sequel, the architect, like mentioned in the movie, is all about balancing equations. Therefore his take on the peace not lasting is his way of seeing the equation balanced. But like the oracle also mentions in the movie, he doesn\'t capture the idea of choice and hope. The sun rising I think represents the new beginning or era of peace between the humans and the machines. With a sunrise you get the feelings of something new, like the new life of the people of zion and the matrix. The ending was the best way to let this movie go out. I bet all those critics failed literature class when they had to analyze books...which Im doing now so Adios!!
-
Rolling Stones are a bunch of jackasses with no talent and thrive on controversy to sell magazines, I mean whens the last time I liked a RS mag besides the fact it had some bimbo in some slutty outfit??? HMmmmmm, can\'t remember!!!

It\'s just a shame that in reality the series is not deep in the least little bit and after you watch Revolution\'s, you realize the second one, was two hours of pretenious bullshit for no reason other than a cop-out ending.
-
I agree that there is no other trilogy out like this, but #2 really was a let down compared to #1.
Will have to wait till tomorrow for #3.

Thank you . I was trying not to lose my temper and mention \'The Godfather\'.
And while the Indiana Jone\'s series may not feature a deep story - it is also a great trilogy.
-
LOTR Trilogy : rules them all.
-
Ditto.
Godfather III was meh...
LOTR > Godfather > Matrix
-
You\'re a friggin\' dork. Godfather III may not be the greatest, but it was a fitting way to end the trilogy.
Matrix had a first good installment and nothing since. The sequels have sucked. Good grief, you people are severly f**ked in the head..

I don\'t know what yer complaining about. Not everyone prefers drama over action flicks. Others prefer comedy. Who\'s screwed n the head? If ya can\'t tolerate other people\'s difference of opinions then you got one too many bolts in yer head.
-
I refused to read any of the post in this thread I clicked the second page and scrolled right to the bottom Im gonna see it but not till friday I cannot get a babysitter soooo Im really pissed the matrix is my fav movie of all time.. I post on sat. Later...
-
I saw it.
It\'s quite different from the first two. Not quite sure what everyone is saying about the storyline, but SirMystiq is correct in saying that it answers pretty much every question.. And yes, it certainly is not hinting at another sequal if anyone ever said that.
Oh, and kudos to me for being the only person in the world to figure out exactly how Neo managed to stop the sentinels at the end of the second movie.
:bounce:
-
How can you say it did not hint at a sequel?
The Orcale said she believed they would see Neo again. There was comments made on how long the peace would last, both from The Orcale and Acritech.
It hinted towards a sequel.
-
hinting at another sequal
*gasp*
you brainiacs think they would let matrix end?
they want your money, fools. open mouth, 12" of shitty franchise is about to be shoved in

When I say good, I mean , good popcorn flick. Nothing more.
As for this one - I just got back from it and I would say it was better than Reloaded (which was downright TERRIBLE ), but not by a lot. The acting was terrible, the CG was pathetic and it all sucked, up until the last fight scene - which just made me wanna go home and watch Superman II.
-
I thought Revolutions was good. Strange ending though. All 3 movies were good imo.
Regardless of what I thought of the movies, I have respect for the Wachowski bros. They had all this planned out from the beginning. Now they\'re probably drinking pina coladas in Aruba and using $100 bills for napkins.

I dont know how anyone could compare \'The Godfather\' and \'Matrix\' in the same sentance.

Nor do I. I mean, \'The Matrix\' sucked as a trilogy where as \'The Godfather\' is legendary.
And to quote myself off the DVDTALK forums.
lright..
Let me say this, I thought the first one was a good popcorn flick and should of been left at that. It could of been an excellent film, if just left alone. Then Reloaded came out , and a lot of people, including myself was extremely dissapointed. It was pretenious, boring and all around a diaster. It lost everything the first one had. After that, I had little interest in see\'ing the series progress, but I had to see how it ended. Here comes Revolution\'s... What can I say? It is not near as good as the original Matrix, but it\'s better than Reloaded - which isn\'t saying a lot. Most of the film (70% ) doesn\'t take place in the Matrix, which takes quite abit away from it. The CG is still weak (most notably the machines ripped from Aliens). The acting is still alittle-bit out there , but it somehow seems better than Reloaded. All in all, I didn\'t enjoy it much, until the end. I loved the Neo Vs Smith fight near the end. It made me want the Washowsi (or however you spell it) direct a new Superman film. They have the flying, the fighting and everything down pat. With all that said, I still don\'t think this was a fitting way to end the trilogy. Then again, a series like this, that had a great start, medicore middle is bound to dissapoint in the end. There was no clear cut way to end this, and maybe that is why they shouldn\'t of bothered with the sequels , in my opinion.
And with that said, am I the only one who felt after watching Revolutions, that it seemed like the second one was entirely unnessarcy for the most part? I sat through the second one, all through the pretenious dialouge, the zillion questions it posed and by the end of the third - most of them was either forgotten or truly just void. All the second one seemed to do was interduce \'Kid\', \'Serph\' (Orcale\'s Bodyguard), \'The Architech\' and \'Merv\' (French man). It seems as though Reloaded was nothing but filler, where as the real story started with original and picked back up in Revolutions.
Also , I think it is safe to say they hinted towards a sequel at the end of this one. Will it happen? I don\'t know. I have to say I doubt it. The series has received a fair amount of backlash since Reloaded came out and now Revolutions, and the only true reason Revolutions is goin\' to bring in the money is so people know how it "ends" and that is what WB is banking on. I doubt people will really care if Neo or the gang come back in a few years for another installment. I know I won\'t.

It really seemed as though it was nothing more than a conversation. It wasn\'t intended to make you think "Oh my God, Neo is coming back, they\'re going to make another movie!!", rather, just to make you think. Or to give the audience \'hope\' that a beloved character will return. Killing off popular character is a good way to alienate the audience, thus drawing further emotion from them, but they want to believe that these characters are still alive..
At least that\'s how I interpretted it. Just trying to give the fans what they want..
-
he said matrix was the best trilogy story ever, makes ya wanna vomit
there\'s the comparison
-
LIC, cant you watch a movie just to enjoy a movie?
Must it always be something spectacular? Like cartoons, you know when you were a kid you watched them, even though they never made you laugh. Why? Entertainment.
And you cant compare Godfather (I,II,III) to anything else. Those
are beyond movies.
Nor do I. I mean, \'The Matrix\' sucked as a trilogy where as \'The Godfather\' is legendary.
Hmm, lets see the Triligoy of "the Matrix" was just finished right, by releasing the 3rd. Thats what? 48 hours its been out? You cant create a legend that early.
And you know the Matrix will be known to everyone 20 years down the road. Its one of those movies that is decent, and then it just becomes better after a while. I dont know how to explain, so I hope your understanding.
-
matrix 2 and 3 will NEVER be called legends
the matrix trilogy will NEVER be in the same class as the godfather, or indiana jones
-
It was decent at best, I didn\'t feel cheated as I left the theater so I can\'t complain. Well I can complain I just don\'t want to get into it.
-
matrix 2 and 3 will NEVER be called legends
the matrix trilogy will NEVER be in the same class as the godfather, or indiana jones
Hmm really?
Legends arent always good, legends are something that are always remembered- Like Cher, I mean she sucks, but no one will forget her. Thats the way it works out.
And I also think it is pretty good, and your all just expecting soo much out of a movie.
the matrix trilogy will NEVER be in the same class as the godfather, or indiana jones
The class of movies. They will eventually be compared and contrasted, as they are now. Some people would prefer the Matrix to the Godfather. As some would prefer apples to oranges.
Apparently you have never heard of something called an opinion- and if You have, if their opinion doesnt agree with yours, they are automatically stupid.
-
Like Cher, I mean she sucks
thats yer opinion of her, there\'s 500 million 40+ year olds that adore her
when the 12-17 year old crowd cherish a movie like matrix 2 and 3, it doesnt last
if you think the matrix trilogy is better than the godfather trilogy, you are stupid, and ignorant, and this guy is gonna come to your house and break your fingers
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jgeoff.com%2Fgodfather%2Fjpeg%2Fluca.jpg&hash=9d667f080a8e1d6365b6d14c7b65632c2ce0cbfd)

What about the Terminator trilogy?
;)
Matrix trilogy will likely be more compared to other action/sci-fi movies. Most likely the Alien trilogy (it\'s still just a trilogy to me.. :().
In which case it is owned, again.
-
How can you compare The Godfather to The Matrix. That\'s like saying the Bugs Bunny sucks because the sky is blue.
I don\'t really care if yall think the Matrix Trilogy sucks monkey balls, it\'s just stupid to watch people compare something that\'s so new to something that has been considered untouchable for so long. There is not ONE single trilogy that you can tell me of that has had the same response as the Matrix. When you say the Matrix only attracts teenagers, at the screening I saw 30-60 year old males, woman up in their 30\'s. The line at the movies right now for Revolutions you can count the number of teenagers. You can\'t continue to live in the past, just because something boasts it\'s special effects or something like that doesn\'t mean you go in there and judge it by the special effects.
The Matrix: Good movie. Excellent Story line and telling. Characters fit the mood of the story which is mysterious, unexpecting, and "Bibleish"
The Matrix Reloaded: Good movie. Doesn\'t seem to connect because it was inteded as a lead in for Revolutions, great action and set up though. Adds more questions to the trilogy
The Matrix Revolutions: Excellent movie. Great acting. I don\'t know what your definition of good acting is, but I saw Smith really believing and eating himself out by trying to conquer it all, I saw new confused and scared at the beginning, but saw the determination in his face towards the end. I saw trinity\'s love and passion for Neo, which people have said it doesn\'t seem as "connected" well thats because the second movie was pretty much the final "connecting" bond between the two, the third movie just lets it dwell more deeply within the characters to a point when that when [sp]trinity dies[\\sp] Neo is able to digest and understand the fact that it was her decision to come with him, that she was ready to give [sp]her life[\\sp] up for him. If thats not love I don\'t know what is. And all the other characters played their parts excellent. The Oracle replacement was amazing. The story wraps up nicely, i mean they even answer why the Oracle seems different. The ending like i said is not a hollywood cliche, It fits the story. There will be no sequel, well hopefully not, because i think the ending was meant to have a "blibleish" ending. Like Neo saved us all, but like in the bible, he will return once the world needs him again. But as in "real" life, Jesus hasn\'t returned. It\'s not the question of when, it\'s a question of if we will ever need him again. and remember machines have no feelings, therefore the peace will last as long as the humans keep it cool with the machines.
-
T3 sucked, never should have been made
alien resurrection was great up till the end
ugh
Great acting
lol, you make me laugh
-
Well, it was. The acting fit the story. The characters all seemed serious, why? because they were living in a world and are now fighting for their lives. B/c their world came apart and didn\'t know about it until they experiened it.
-
The Matrix will be vaguely emembered in twenty years. It will not be a legend though. It could of been, but the sequels ruined any hope of that happening.
-
Ok, well tell me, what should the sequels have been like?
-
actual films, and not commercials perhaps?
-
Exactly.
Or maybe they shouldn\'t of been "smart for the stupid". Which means - they attempt to sound so deep and smart, but honestly, if you think they are , you\'re stupid.
Smart for the stupid.
-
All of you are stupid. Why even argue something so pointless as this? Tell me, because i see no reason in the world except to get your pathetic little jollies off. MM and everybody in here will NEVER change their minds about a god damn thing and thats the truth and everybody knows it. Its just a spam war. If its not then i would like to know what it really is.
Of course now that i say that i really liked the movie, the validity of any of my statements turn to shit.
I thought it was one of the best movies in a long time. Godfather, meh, it depends on what your slice a bread is. There is no right and wrong in movies (with some exceptions to the extremes). Anybody that sais otherwise can kiss my black ass. Heh, it was a joke. Not a good one I KNOW but all im saying is get off your friggin stoop and chill the **** out. Its a movie.
You are all like those gay art collectors who dont make art and try to gain a meaning from something that looks like... god knows what and make it into some huge part of your lives.
Let the flaming begin.
-
Hugely entertaining, very satisfying. :)
Guys, throwing around your self righteous opinions won\'t go anywhere and I know I don\'t need to tell you that.
I can\'t help but ask why you keep trying to school everyone?
-
Yeah i guess that would be correct. Its just annoying how people like to agrue over this stuff like it really matters or makes any difference at all.
Sorry for trying to "school" you all (y\'all) ;)

SirMystiq, it\'s like you want the movie to be so great that you really believe the lie in your head. It\'s all an opinion, but yea......

Wasn\'t refering to you.
I actually find it worthwhile to read interpretations, opinions, beliefs, etc.
I just don\'t see why people feel the need to force feed their crap to other people...

Actually I just like to argue. It\'s a good movie, I liked it.

hate to break it to yall, but film is art and art is subjective. Might as well give up on proclaiming any movie to better than another as there is no way to deffinitivly claim one as the better.

matrix, art?
thats the most ridiculous statement, ever
-
It is an art mr.You just dont realise the meaning in the plot

-
You are not the best movie critic thats for sure.Your expectations are based a lot on previous movie experiences thats why you cant see the movie\'s uniqueness
But that\'s the fundemental problem with this film. No matter how "cool" any action scene is, it\'s totaly wasted if you don\'t feel the characters are ever in any real danger, and if they are, you don\'t even care if they live or die. That\'s a fundemental problem with the trilogy that critics address, but hardcore know-it-all fans ignore and excuse as some part of a deeper meaning.
Tell me this, was Smith not the best character in the film? Was he not the most interesting, most talented, and most intriguing aspect? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then the film failed. It should be understood that, for the most part, in order for a film to be worthwhile and emotional and truly grab the viewer and make connections with the characters and their cause, there needs to be a hero and a villain that represents both disparate ends of the spectrum and although Smith is clearly the villain, no one feels connected enough with the characters both inside and outside of the Matrix to care if Neo wins or loses. I bet all of you who are heralding the film as one of the best ever didn\'t watch the final battle hoping Neo would win, but instead watched it simply for the spectacle.
That\'s where the Matrix fails as a film. It\'s a series of great moments followed by a series of poorly constructed ones rife with subjective dialogue, unemotional characters, and lacks a story that is truly enthralling. If I took out the few character specific moments and spliced together only the action scenes, most of you would more then likely not even notice. I\'m sure even that many of you will get the dvd home and skip around from scene to scene. I know I do on Reloaded, but I would guess that is why that film has so many chapter points to begin with.
If a film is great, it\'s great from beginning to end and it creates an emotional bond with the characters and the viewers, but because this film never once succeeded in doing that, it was a dissapointing failure.
How unfortunate.

Smith\'s attitude in the film also had a purpose in the film. Its not coincidential that Smith who is a program has a stronger character than "humans"
If you want to see the film expecting emotional bonds strong characters it takes from the main purpose of the film.It not trying to make you feel emotional with the plot. Its trying to avoid that. Its different. You proovge hwt I have said before.Your expectations are based on previous experiences.
If a film is great, it\'s great from beginning to end and it creates an emotional bond with the characters and the viewers, but because this film never once succeeded in doing that, it was a dissapointing failure.
How unfortunate.
The movie wants you be neutral from emotions. It doesnt want you to feel hatred or love or saddness or anything. It will lure you away from the movie\'s real substance.
Actually its not a movie for everyone. Its trying to enlighten through science fiction .Trying to pass some meanings. It depends from the person. Some people like it because of its action etc Other because of its effects. But they are also misisng the meaning.I agree that some people liked the movie because they dont know shit about movies and they get easily excited,But unfortunately neither do they see the substance of the movie.
Its like a work of abstract art with the difference that it has substance. Not everyone is going to understant it.

You didnt get the films main purpose.
the main purpose of the film was so make you plop down 9$, and forget what quality film making actually is
Your expectations are based on previous experiences.
no, your expectation is you saw the best parts of the film in the previews and you already know whats gonna happen
......and furthermore
that\'s where the Matrix fails as a film. It\'s a series of great moments followed by a series of poorly constructed ones rife with subjective dialogue, unemotional characters, and lacks a story that is truly enthralling.
ryu nailed the epitome of what the matrix films are right there. that cannot be contested.
-
Let\'s face it, if you\'ve read this far in to the thread then you\'ve either seen the movie or ruined it entirely...thus I will not put spoiler tags. Let\'s just have some matrix discussion.
The only way the series could be over is if the machines and humans get along. Zion was not irradicated and I believe the architect said "those who wish to be free will be released" meaning that the 1% who are the eventuallity of the anomally (Neo) are no longer a part of the equation, at least for the matrix itself. They will still pose a threat to the machine world as an uprising is inevitable.
The Oracle said she supposes that we will see him again...Now, Neo didn\'t return to the source code like previous ones so how could he be involved any further in the balance of the equation? Or perhaps he was returning to the source code in the end when he was turning that bright gold along with everything else???
Maybe he\'ll be resurrected...no way to be sure.
A sequel is not out of the question, or an entirely different trilogy set in the matrix world...
The anomally is systemic creating fluctuations in even the simplest of equations inevitably leading to another, one that as the architect said is "not beyond a measure of control." With the release of those who chose not to accept the matrix, choice is no longer an issue meaning that an entire different anomally could result in a different chain of events leading up to the balance of the equation...thus a different trilogy entirely. Am I entirely confused or just putting way too much thought in to it?
I have more questions like what\'s with the little girl from the train station...she\'s obviously a program but what her significance was is beyond me at the moment. Someone mentioned she was refered to as "the last exile"...I don\'t remember that and I can\'t begin to think what it means.
Besides orchestrating the entire chain of events, what is the oracles\' ultimate purpose? In Reloaded, Seraph said he "protects that which matters most". I also have to ask why Seraph was seen as a gold light like the machine city in Reloaded? They said themselves they are both programs and as such would face deletion if not for a purpose...
I really admire the way they wrapped up this "anomally" but it still left quite a few open ended questions for the matrix universe.
Perhaps another Animatrix lies ahead???

If a film is great,
it remains so as subject to the individual.
Sorry YOU didn\'t like it.

Smart for the stupid.
Basically a load of pretentious old w*nk with a wooden board as the lead. The Matrix provokes thought and then embarrases itself in the same breath
Haven\'t seen the third yet, I don\'t know if I want to waste £10 going to see it as I may well walk out.
IMO it all went wrong when they started talking about programs, viruses and all that boll*cks rather than man vs machine, it became utterly dull.

They cannot be contested:
1)Because he is a mod and whatever Mods say according to your logic shouldnt be denied because of that(So I wonder why you post.To impose to the forum members?)
2)Because you have the same opinion as his
There is no point arguing with you.

I saw the matrix last night (but I was right in the front left so didn\'t see it perfectly). I have to say I was impressed with some of the specail effects but not with the plot. There was only one gun battle scene. Then there was like a 20 minutes scene of the people blowing up sentinals in those walking guns. I thought the movie could have been alot better. Would I pay 9 bucks to see it again? Yes. It was a good movie, awesome special effects and need to see the full screen next time, lol.
-
not with the plot...
there\'s another one
ryu\'s conclusion of the matrix is dead on, my opinion withstanding or not

Hey, I liked Alien: Res, too, until the end...

If YOU dont like it because it doesnt serve YOUR expectations it doesnt mean it\'s a bad movie.
-
And if YOU do like it because it did meed YOUR expectations, does not make it a good movie.
See, how that works?
And if we wanted to truly judge if it was a good or bad movie - we would have to go by general public opinion along with critics opinions, which leans more towards the "let down" angle - which would make it a bad movie.

It\'s a movie. Everything is subjective. And Glitter should have been a porn movie.

Untrue. You enjoyed the first two - therefor you had expectations for the movie. Expectations are a given. Wether they be good or bad. You have a pre-conceived notion on the film before you see it. You, enjoying the previous two, was looking forward to it.
And that does not help the fact, that if we was to actually sit and decide if the film was good or not, we would have to go to a majority of media and personal opinions.
-
Well, I saw it today, and was a bit let down. I was hoping for twistier movie, with a more definitive ending. That said, the last two were action movies, and good action movies at that.
It\'s got 6.5/10 on imdb, so it\'s a full star away from making the top 250 list, but still a good movie... "according to the people"
-
6.5/10

I believe exiles were those programs created without a purpose (and thus were supposed to be deleted), but chose to hide. Hence the whole train thingy-ma-bob. But I really didn\'t understand where they were trying to hide. Wasn\'t the purpose of the train to smuggle things in between the real world and the Matrix? If so, why did she remain in the matrix?
Perhaps I misunderstood..

You didnt get the films main purpose.Thats why you cant see the meaning hence you think thats an excuse from hardcore fans.
You are making far too many assumptions. It\'s true that Neo is becoming more machine like, which is what everyone seems to suggest while Smith himself is becoming more human -- which is the point you are referring to. That\'s not the issue here because I\'m not targetting dead-pan Keanuu Reeves. I\'m targetting every character, every person, every spec of the film. I "get" it completely, but one does not have to "miss the point" to not appreciate it -- it\'s not a prerequisite.
Regardless, whether I "get" it or not is irrelevant. To feel the characters are totaly hollow and to have no emotional ties to ANY of them and feel the spectacle was more important then the characters themselves is what made this movie terrible. I\'m not attacking its deep philosophy or its deep spiritual meanings. I happen to think discussing the films and the ideas of them are great, but that doesn\'t make the films great in themselves.
I can discuss the structure and meaning of every scene in Glitter, but in the end, a pile of bile is a pile of bile no matter what\'s buried in it.
Smith\'s attitude in the film also had a purpose in the film. Its not coincidential that Smith who is a program has a stronger character than "humans"
That much is certain and it\'s something I already know, but having the best personality and the best character doesn\'t excuse the fact that deep down, you didn\'t care if Neo died or not. Take the classic example of the Joker and Batman, both are infinitely great characters, but each one has a past, each one has a deep emotional background that connects you with them, and each one would definitely be a whole lot of fun to tinker with what with Joker\'s insane amount of gags and his playful and sadistic nature while Batman has its exuberant amount of gadgets and is the perfect human specimen. In the end, everyone wants Batman to win. No matter what the Joker does. In Matrix Revolutions, no one cared if Neo won or lost or if Smith won or lost, it was all about the spectacle, nothing more, nothing less.

That\'s like saying there is no bias in the world when, in fact, everything you say and every decision you make has a degree of bias whether you like it or not. Biases can be affected by something as simple as the weather or what you had for breakfast in the morning right up to the more direct forms of influence based on prequels building to whether or not this movie is good or bad or whether or not the PS2 is greater then the Xbox based on what you played as a child.
Everyone has a bias and an expectation. No one can go into anything with a clear head. In order to do that, you\'d have to approach it as if you were a newborn baby and this was the first thing you ever saw in your life. Unfortunately, you wouldn\'t understand it and you wouldn\'t be able to remember watching it when you became old enough to articulate your feelings on it. That\'s too bad for you though as it totaly destroys your argument.
Oh and one last thing, when Neo and Trinity embraced on the train platform, it sure as hell wouldn\'t have hurt the story to smile. The humans ARE capable of expressing joy afterall. Don\'t give me any crap that it\'s devoid of emotion for some huge monumental purpose. Would you even know that Trinity and Neo were in love had they not kissed and had sex and people constantly said that love was "all over their face" when their face is always the same stern flatness that it has been for three movies?
The movie wants you be neutral from emotions. It doesnt want you to feel hatred or love or saddness or anything. It will lure you away from the movie\'s real substance.
Actually its not a movie for everyone. Its trying to enlighten through science fiction .Trying to pass some meanings. It depends from the person. Some people like it because of its action etc Other because of its effects. But they are also misisng the meaning.I agree that some people liked the movie because they dont know shit about movies and they get easily excited,But unfortunately neither do they see the substance of the movie.

it remains so as subject to the individual.
Sorry YOU didn\'t like it.
That\'s a fair assessment to a degree, but I won\'t crap in the face of classical cinema because it has worked for so many years and created the best films of any time.
-
I prefer 1 and 2 over this one... Not that it was a bad movie, just a very empty movie. Good visual movie, but i didn\'t expect much story line sense 1 and 2 pretty much setup everything for 3.
-
*sigh* This is truely pathetic. WHY DO YOU SO WHOLE HEARTEDLY ARGUE OVER THIS CRAP? There will never be a decent movie thread on these boards, with a very small margin of hope. All the threads go the same way, yet you all sit in your little cubicles or w/e and waste away arguing over this shit. Nobody listens to anything with any bit of common sense (not saying that this is the most important post and all that jazz).
Why waste your time?
I think you guys really get off on this stuff or just have extremely boring lives where the only fufilment you gain is from bitching at eachother, just trying to see how many profound and "good" posts you can get in before some mod gets tired of it and closes the thread.

If I were to disagree with the popular opinion that a movie is a "classic" would I lose any credibility? Afterall, doesn\'t my opinion weigh as much as yours or anyone elses?
My disagreement would be based on whether I enjoyed the film or not, correct? If it so happens I am not entertained by said "classic" film then my opposition is valid when I say it\'s not good or great.
The opinion is entirely mine to have, right? When is it not mine?

Everyone I\'ve talked to has been disapointed by the movie. Nobody has said it was bad, but it didn\'t their meet expectations. Eh, I\'ll probably rent it sometime. No rush to see this one.

I don\'t get why you\'re being all huffy puffy about having an opinion. I never once said anything about not having one or someone\'s being invalid, I simply gave my views on the film and was told by someone else that I didn\'t understand it simply because the ideas presented, which I didn\'t like, were somehow supposed to be excused as a part of the plot. That shouldn\'t happen and I don\'t like the idea that elements should be forgiven because it was intended. If I went out and made a really terrible movie and everyone hated it, arguing that everyone should have loved it because it was intentionally terrible makes absolutely no sense at all. Simply because I have that point of view, and express it, doesn\'t make your opinion any less valid.
I was dissapointed in it, you loved it, and that\'s great, but what\'s your real point? Have I somehow infringed on your freedom of speech and expression? Point out where I did, please, because I\'m at a lost for what you\'re really trying to get at.
-
One has to understand that in order for a film to be worthwhile and emotional...
That\'s where the Matrix fails as a film.
If a film is great, it\'s great from beginning to end and it creates an emotional bond with the characters and the viewers, but because this film never once succeeded in doing that, it was a dissapointing failure.
How unfortunate.
I don\'t need to understand this^
My opinion isn\'t valid to a certain degree. I can discern for myself what I find enthralling as can anyone else in this forum.
-
That\'s great that you can, but that was my opinion and there are many that agree with it, including some on this forum and many who don\'t. It was targeted at no one single person and whether you agree with it or not isn\'t relevant as it doesn\'t once infringe on your opinion of the subject material or movies in general. Discern all you want about what\'s good and what\'s not, it\'s all fine with me, but that doesn\'t change my opinion on what I think really captures and enthrals an audience.
You think I would speak for you? I don\'t even know your language. ;)

I think the plot and philosophical meanings were good, some of the lines were cheesey. And i didnt think the acting was good at all.

fair1 (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=fair) ( P ) Pronunciation Key (fâr)
Having or exhibiting a disposition that is free of favoritism or bias; impartial: a fair mediator.
Just to all parties; equitable: a compromise that is fair to both factions.
You would not agree with that definition of your statement? It makes sense to me.
Then why did you bother to type that one must understand.
Still quibbling over words? That\'s fine. I changed it. Let me know what you think. Sounds fair to me. ;)

What I don\'t understand is why people say the first movie was awesome and the 2nd was trash or vice versa or some combo thereof. All the movies were the same thing. That\'s my only complaint from Revolutions is that I waited to see the end expecting some \'revelation\' of what Neo had to do. But instead what does he do? The same thing he did for the first 2 movies, fight Smith. Then all of a sudden Smith starts exploding. Why? Magic?
The only other thing I don\'t understand is why you yankees pay $9. It\'s like $6 and some change here.
-
The thing that strikes me is they could have easily compacted this trilogy into one good, and solid film. I can think of countless crap they could have thrown out to condense it accordingly. Maybe some of you will disagree and say that would be impossible, but in all actuality if you take out some of the +30 minute fighting sequences, pointless dialogue, Keanu Reeves disgusting naked butt, and moronic cave-disco-Blade-esque dancing sequences, they could have done it.
Point is it\'s about $, and they banked hardcore.

From my understanding. Smith was no longer part of the matrix system, That was based in part 2....
When neo was plugged into the matrix by the "source" atleast that\'s what i thought it was. Neo became part of their system. When Smith took over neo, smith was then plugged back into the machines through neo. Thus, being deleted by them. Only flaw i find to this, is smith takes over a agent in part 2, so why couldn\'t they delete / destroy him then?
well... that\'s my guessin. :)
-
Meh. I dont think they could have made the trilogy into one solid film. There were a lot of useless elements that could have easily been cut but one movie to explain everything would be difficult.
Im in awe to find that you thought the first matrix was actually decent flick. There is some light at the end of this tunnel. I wouldnt dissagree but from what seem to be your standards it didnt seem that you would be even fairly interested.
So long as you acknowledge the posts are both "profound" and "good," that\'s reason enough for me to go on posting in these threads.
Well im not actually saying that, but they arent bad by any means, just somewhat wasted.

So...
How about that Die Hard Trilogy, eh?
-
And why did the bondage loving french guy have power in the matrix?
-
Ryu:
Why is it when Neo turned into Agent Smith that every Agent was destroyed? If that\'s all he had to do why didn\'t he sacrifice himself earlier? Why is the Architect so against the Matrix? What happens to Neo after that, is he dead? Or is he alive? You can\'t even tell.
-
Still quibbling over words? That\'s fine. I changed it. Let me know what you think. Sounds fair to me.
Seeing as how written(typed) words are the medium for communication here I\'d say they hold a lot of weight. What do you think?
BTW, thank you.
Hurricane...
Remember that Neo didn\'t know what he had to do, he just had the visions of going to the machine city but didn\'t know what happened after that. He said he was scared and clearly uncertain.
The architect against the matrix???
Well, the end has been intrepreted a few ways...it looks to me as if he was returning to the source code. Afterall he began to shine bright gold like everything else.

what plot?
if i see one more ignoramus link neo to jesus, im gonna vomit

You have just told me you didnt understand the plot.
People that say things like"Neo was like Jesus" and liked the film dont differ from people that didnt understand the plot and hated the movie like you

....i saw the 1st two (without paying)
nothing to understand, you guys that conclude this is that about the plot or more pathetic then trekkies

Nothing to undrstand because YOUR logic doesnt understand it.What? You think you are the best movie critic and can understand every movie?

Pot calling the kettle and whatnot...
You have no permission to tell me that I didn\'t get the film ever again if you think there are no parallels present between the Matrix and Christianity. There are many different interpretations and no one is right and the Wachoskis know this, which is why they are allowing people to discuss it on their own. You want to know the real truth? Go talk to the Wachowskis and waste some of their time rather then assuming you know everything and complain that those who don\'t appreciate it are imbecils because, somehow, they didn\'t understand it as you have done SEVERAL times in this thread. Here, open yourself up to some other viewpoints while you\'re at it and read the following essays:
http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/rl_cmp/new_phil_intro2.html
While you\'re at it though, I want to give you one more piece of free advice -- give yourself a break and consider for a moment, just for a moment now because I don\'t want you hurting yourself, that maybe people understood the film just fine, but still didn\'t like it. Just imagine that there are some people out there who not only have the intelect to understand something as "complicated" as the Matrix, but also the fortitude to stand up and say "hey, despite everything they tried to do, this movie is still a pile of bile." If you can\'t comprehend or accept that, then you have no business telling people what they understand or don\'t understand about the film. No one interpretation is correct except the Wachowski\'s interpretation and until then, it\'s fun to discuss, but claiming someone is wrong or right is just wasted breath. It\'s all interesting, but it\'s all heresay no matter how you justify it.

Heh.What did you understand from the movie? The Wachoskis left multiple possibilities. They have their own theory on the plot but theyu leave each viewer to find the meaning of it by himslef.Otherwise you dont get the messaaes whatever they are if they are being told by someone else.thats what makes it such a work of art.But judging form what some of you people say or you read essays(Just like you proove) or you just interpret the plot from the more noticable aspects of the movie rather the ones hidden behind it.
If you have noticed I have never tried to explain the plot in either of my posts,I am trying to let people try to dive more into the movie
So your link actually doesnt proove anything different than what I already believed about the film

My link wasn\'t meant to prove anything. You see, the problem with your posts about this film is you start off by saying those who do not like it do not understand it when understanding, simply put, is not a prerequisite for approval. I understand why certain cultures cut the clitoris off of females, but I certainly don\'t like or agree with it. According to your statements though, because I understand it, I should love it. This is what makes absolutely no sense.
Secondly, you\'re right, you never posted your interpretation, but since mm posted his, you basically told him outright that he didn\'t understand the film when in fact, he did understand, just from his own point of view. He saw parallels, which are obvious to me, but not to yourself, and made an inference to its meaning. He did basically what you did the entire way through, only he thought differently which is what people in different cultures with different points of view tend to do. But for some odd reason, you refused to accept that interepretation.
It\'s the same as with my link to all the philosophical essays that I posted which are available on the official site I might add. It has nothing to do with proving that you\'re wrong, but it has everything to do with saying that your viewpoint isn\'t the only correct one. There are thousands of philosophers all over the globe who are, right now, in a heated debate discussing the topics and ideas of these movies drawing conclusions and making whole new philosophical theories, but none of them are right and none of them are wrong. It\'s a matter of accepting the views of others and coming up with your own ideas and that\'s the whole purpose of the discussion. You don\'t understand this because all you do is claim everyone is an idiot who doesn\'t like it and everyone who doesn\'t like it, doesn\'t understand it.

Look. When someone says he didnt like it I dont care. When someone sais its a failure, its shit, its pointless then its like telling to people that liked it "Hey what you like is shit, its bullshit, its crap".
Yeah probably though I got a bit carried away with my own point of view.

Yeah but I mean thats what I want to see from people.I want to hear their own point of view on the plot even if its not the same as mine. When someone sais the film is shit(especially when he cant tell me why) without even trying to get anything from the film is different from poeple that have seen the film didnt undresntand anything and just say they didnt like it.
mm is trying to persuade that the film is shit more than I am trying to proove him it is great. And he is trying to persuade everyone.
Atleast I gave this disagreeing attitude towrds him becuase of his persuasive attitude towards everyone that liked the film.I didnt disagree with anyone else except from you and him although some other members of this forum didnt like the film
-
Hmm, I wish the W bro\'s would come out and tell us already what they thought their end should of meant to us.
MM just because it\'s not a bunch of gansters shooting up shit while having some family problems doesn\'t mean it sucks. By the way The GF 1 was the only good GF movie...
-
But you generalized us both in the same category simply because both he and I didn\'t like the film. What you fail to understand is that he and I share the same opinion on the movie, but for reasons both similar and different. I say that the trilogy has a fundemental problem, but it has nothing to do with it\'s philosophy, but everything to do with it being an actual film. If you had read and understood that before jumping into your own self riteous views about being wrong or right, you would have been a little bit quicker to rethink what you\'re saying. Instead, you did what you did.
I didn\'t like the fact that the villain in the movie was the only interesting character and the the heroes of the film were all dead inside and incapable of showing any emotion whatsoever. A movie needs to create a bond between the main characters and the audience in some way, but this movie failed miserably at doing that and for that, I don\'t feel the movie was well done. I gave my reasons, I spoke my mind, but you wrote me off as someone who didn\'t understand and for that, this whole discussion started. I understand perfectly fine, but I don\'t care for it either way. That\'s what you failed to understand from my first post.
Oh, and one other thing...
When someone sais its a failure, its shit, its pointless then its like telling to people that liked it "Hey what you like is shit, its bullshit, its crap".
That\'s right, it is, but that\'s the whole point of having an opinion in the first place and with posting on a public message board, it should be something to be expected and it should also be accepted as being someone else\'s opinion. You can disagree, but that\'s about the extent of it and it\'s a big "tough break" statement after that.
-
Ohh, and before I start anything, I was just playin about the GF I liked them all except the last one...
Well, I guess it depends on what your taste in acting is, I liked the acting in the Matrix not because im a big fan, but because to me it fit the setting of the movie and the things the characters have gone through, the way I see it, trinity and neo only showed "loved" toward each other, but after that they seemed pretty serious and focused, probably because of everything they have learned and stuff. Some of the other characters like the one neo saved, that little kid remember, he seemed to be kind of inexperienced and he had that "what?" personality. The french guy was one of my fav. characters!!
"Lipstick..what lipstick" <
-
Ok.My mistake that I approached you almost the same way as I did him
That\'s right, it is, but that\'s the whole point of having an opinion in the first place and with posting on a public message board, it should be something to be expected and it should also be accepted as being someone else\'s opinion. I dont mind when someone posts the opposite opinoin than mine. But atleast they shouldnt post adjectives that show disrespect towards someone\'s preference as a fact especially when he/she cant tell exactly why he/she believes that.
-
I saw it today - crap to be honest (IMO)
The watchoski(sp?) brothers got far to far into the story line - the second movie was pointless and only made so they could call it a trilogy - they could have compressed it into the \'3rd movie\' in 10 minutes.
The ending coudn\'t go any other way obviously but it still could have been much better.
Its sad really, now in the future when someone says "Remember the Matrix? that film was sooooo good and thought provoking" and the reply will be "yeh, but the sequels sucked" =[
-
I thought it was great I watched it last night and yes I think it was one of the greatest movie trilogies of all time... That was for you MM since you think that your opion is the only one that counts or that since the movie critics say it stinks then that means it stinks you do realize that a person is allowed to base a statement that doesnt give anything thats nothing more than subjective on an opinion correct? What a bunch of looser arguring like this over ones opionion... Jesus crist it like 7th grade all over again
I started to read this thread and was exited to be a part of it and then the children decided to come out and fuk it all up. What a bunch of Morons!
-
Its useless my friend. Seriously. I know that may not stop you but all you people in here are very easily shaken when somebody opposes your opinions. Yes i think Uni was right in terms of how frequently people seem to disrespect others and or give no credit to the persons opinion. But like i was once told, Its useless.

"You are playing a very dangerous game."
If you go back through the trilogy I think it\'s safe to say she orchestrated the entire chain of events but to what end I\'m not sure.
"what of those who want to be freed?" (something like that)
She asked the question out of concern so I\'m guessing it\'s the future of both man and machine. Remember in Reloaded when she said her concern is the future...they both need each other to survive and a truce was the effect of actions she set up.
Yes, I remember when the Architect said they are willing to resort to other means of survival...the Oracle basically said the man is full of shit in Revolutions.
I think I just answered my question...

Here is my opinion on that part
I think the part where she said ""what of those who want to be freed?" has to do a lot with the consiousness of people. It has to do with Cypher and Seraph.
Some people that were "freed" felt less freedom after their release from the Matrix. The Matrix and the Real world doesnt differ. In both worlds life is realised the same way.Its information that are collected in your brain.Cypher for instance regreted for taking the red pill. And he also tried to explain in the first Matrix his belief but he couldnt. He said something like(cant remember exactly) "No Trinity the Matrix can be more real than the real world...." but then he was interrupted.
Thats what Seraph also wanted to see when he wanted to fight with Neo or Ghost and Niobe(In the game). To see how much resolved they were to fight for the "real" world and for what they believed in.Otherwise it indicated that they were people that wanted to live in the Matrix.Just like Cypher. He wanted control of his life.
What happens in the end IMO is a balance of these people. The ones that wanted out of the Matrix and the others that wanted in the Matrix.(The machines get their energy and humans their freedom either outside or inside the matrix)
-
I personally enjoyed it very much. Putting story and flaws aside I\'ll merely say that it was just good old fashioned entertainment (and that\'s all I was looking for, not an oscar worthy movie). In terms of it\'s status as a trilogy, i would say that yes the 2nd one was the weakest but entirely necessary. I feel that crunching 2 and 3 into one big movie would have resulted in the loose ends and lack of explanation reminiscent of Dune (the old 1980\'s one). In the case of the Matrix, the W bros. gave the story ample time to unfold. I also think they did a nice job of bringing closure but with some uncertainty (ie. "every thing that has a beginning has an end" which could be related to the peace agreement).
-

In your opinion? I can\'t see much room for interpretation here, just those who don\'t get the whole picture.
There\'s alot to digest and I\'m guessing some people just didn\'t make all the connections. For me, it was after watching Revolutions...then watching Reloaded again, specifically the park scene with the Oracle AND Smith.
The story is that of the fate...Neo was just a means to an end.
-
I thought Matrix Revolutions rocked. And no I won\'t let 4 paragraph or 2 line posts sway my opinion. ;)

As for this one - I just got back from it and I would say it was better than Reloaded (which was downright TERRIBLE ), but not by a lot. The acting was terrible, the CG was pathetic and it all sucked, up until the last fight scene - which just made me wanna go home and watch Superman II.
Why did you even bother spending your money on this movie if you hate it so much? I think everyone who started reading this post got the idea that you dont like the matrix the first 10 posts you made.
And BTW: BAD CG??? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CG? Anything at all? Do you have any idea how much work goes into achieving something like they have in the matrix? UNLESS you can do better than what they have done. Don\'t talk smack
Oh yeah.... GODFATHER SUCKS!! worst trilogy ever. I rather stick my finger in my eye, into my brain and twirl it around before watching that slice of tripple turd!
IMO ofcourse.

See, thats my point. I could say the same about your views on the matrix. The movie is in a completely different category as the Godfather, UNLESS you want to say they\'re both trilogies. But you can\'t compare the 2. I would assume you don\'t like action/sifi flicks, or maybe you do. None the less, the matrix offered everything expected AND MORE from a movie of its type. I just seems that you, mm, are everything anti-conformity, anything pop culture is bad to you. Or am I wrong?
-
pop culture is the death of originality
is sad that you cant see this

When you think like that you put blinders on to the world. I don\'t like everything "pop culture" Not by a long shot. But I don\'t limit myself to everything underground just because it isnt pop.

blinders?
i\'ve been alive enough to see ALOT of pop culture, bro

lol, you morons crack me up
like the matrix has this deep subconsious meaning
oooh, look out now!
like i said, worse then trekkies
-
"We are all here to do what we are all here to do." - Oracle
"It is purpose that creates us, that connects, that binds us..."- Smith
"Wrong, choice is an illusion created by those with power for those without...we can not escape the reason, the why." - Merovingian
Don\'t you think the movie embodied the notion that we are all victims of fate for the sake of a greater purpose? You don\'t find meaning in that?
EDIT: Take from it what you will.

mm never said he didn\'t understand it. He simply stated that he thought it was horrible because it can be categorized as POP. Ofcourse the only thing categorizing the movie at all is the fact that the majority of the people liked it.

I thought the movie had a great plot but.....there were some downpoints and things left unexplained.
Worst part of the movie was the flying, it sorta made the movie to unrealistic, that that the world being contrlled by machines and the world we live in a dream world wasnt already unreal.
The part that sorta confused me is how Smith got his powers and how if he absorbed everybody in the matrix how did the machines use them as energy. Also they never really explained how Neo had his power outside the matrix, and why could he see all the orange light when he went blind.
Another bad part was the animation during fight scenes, reminded me of final fantasy the movie.....not too good imo.
Overall the movie had an excellent plot but they had a lot of voids in the story and a lot of unnescesary scenes.
-
uni, no more tears bro
matrix, like i said, was a two hour special effect and nothing more
there is no plot, there is no deep meaning
they wanted to suck you back in for more money, and it worked everytime
-
Think of the orangey yellow look as feeling, not seeing. The whole reason Neo got his powers is because the machines downloaded it into him, just like how he learned how to fight. they simply download it into the brain. Did you ever notice how Neo "seen" the matrix? He didn\'t really see anything at all. He seen code. Somehow, he tapped into the code that ran the machines in the real world. They probably could have presented it in a different way, but they wanted the viewers to get the idea that he "felt" the machines presence the same way he did in the matrix.
-

 I am certainly not one of the freaks above
When I say meaning I dont mean there is something going on the Wachowski Brothers arent telling us directly (the case of the matrix freaks you see in the pic  ) or they are keeping a secret they know that we dont.Thats BS.They took elements from teachings from philosophy and religions and impemented them in the movie. The movie is a parallelism of these teachings.Perhaps if you ever tried to think about the things happening around you, spent some time with some books(Platon, Socrates etc) and even a few science books, the whole movie would have seem totally different to you.
As for the money part tell me what movie doesnt want to be a money magnet. If I were the directors of the Matrix or any other movie my thoughts would have been "I want money. But why not make a movie that has my beliefs and knowledge that I ll enjoy making and others will enjoy watching?"
Thats exactly what I see in the Matrix. Its not a movie for everyone.I accept the fact that many saw and loved the movie because of the effects.I accept that many saw and loved the movie for the action scenes.I accept there are Matrix freaks(pic above) that find excuses to make the movie sound as if "ITS DE GREATEST MOVIE EVER PEOPLE!!OPEN YOUR MINDS AND FREE YOURSELVES FROM DE MATRIX" shit.
But there is also a group of people that noticed how well different teachings were implemented in a parallel form in the movie. Some probably didnt like the way they were paralled becuase it was too excessive for their tastes. Some of tese people liked it because they dont mind the science fiction. There are also some people that loved the style of the movie and the way they paralleled things in the movie.
Personally I like the mangish feeling(no other movie seemed to manage this feel so well), the sensation of the movie and the parallelism. Also what I like in this movie is the fact that it lets people have their own interpretations of th eplot independently from what the directors wanted to show. And thats how art works and surrealistic poetry.
-
ahh gezz, who gives a flying F@#K what mm thinks, he keeps these opinions about "pop" movies and probably misses plenty of good ones. What ever the case, it\'s his loss weither he believes it or not....
carry on.

Tha Matrix is the inside of a computer... Smith was a program that turned into a computer virus and rewrote himself (the virus) over other parts of and eventually all parts of the computer system. Not much different from computer virus that are out there now.
Neo never had his "powers" out side the matrix he was somehow able to keep a part of his mind always in the matrix thus being able to control things from within the matrix on the outside of it. He was always hacked into the matrix even if he wasnt actaually jacked in.
Maybe he was wifi compatible....

Not that I think the matrix trilogy was the best I have ever seen.

I wonder why you have the same attitude as them.
I also wonder why you have that attitude with me since I hev never stated the Matrix as the best film or best trilogy.
And yes you can discuss the plot for more than 14 pages too.If YOU dont get the plot leave yourself out of the plot discussion and stop making fun of those that got it or just liked it.Whats your God damn problem

kill bill, serious or not, was a piece of shit, and the ticket sales certainly reflected that

Can\'t help those who don\'t want to help themselves...
BTW: Kill Bill has already earned more than it costs to make both films. Besides that it did it\'s job of entertaining some.
I liked it and you can\'t tell me differently no matter how hard you try. Seems like the obvious thing to do is to let it go and move on. Do what you will.

As for the matrix 2 and 3, I have yet to have seen 3, but I know that nothing will compare to how great the 1st one was and how it brought new elements into speical affects and expanded out minds. Now as for a series like the godfather, all 3 were excellent movies. Not just the first.
Don\'t get my wrong or anything, I loved the 2nd one but it just didn\'t have whatever the original matrix had to make it special.

On the other hand perhaps it was some kind of egoistic selfishness that kept me arguing with him becuase I couldnt accept him offending my tastes.....Damn weakness.

Exactly and if you couldn\'t understand that mm, I am sorry, and in a way it did apply with the way the thread has gone. It has gone about discussing the movie to discussing why mm is the way he is!!! SIMPLE.

i do have simple pleasures when it comes to filmmaking and other media

BWAHAHA! You think you\'re the only one here cultured, mm? Please. This facade of yours is thin. If anyone is cultured, they wouldn\'t be harping on it like you. Humility is part of being "cultured", monkey man.

And what makes YOU more cultured than I am(since it was I that debated the most with you on the film)

I pick my boogers does that make me cultured, I mean what just because you like one thing over the other and others don\'t that makes you cultured???

Probably mm needs a more open minded education and experience becuase he seems to lack it.His way of thinking is old fashioned thats why he cant accept anything except whatever has similarities with experiences of his past life.I mean he cant accept something that might be worth it and great (I am not speaking about the Matrix trilogy but generally) if its different from what he has seen in the past. The thing is if what he saw and liked in the past he had never seen it but seen it nowadays with the experience he has now he might have not liked it.
What he likes its mostly due to good past memories. We all love the good past memories and he is nostalgic.Thats why he cant accept anything these days,
mm why do I get the impression I know more yourself than you do? :p

You people from Cyprus who can\'t spell and make logical sense. You, "cultured" film students, who think they know what they like, but only like it so they can be different from the mainstream.You\'re nothing but sell-outs waiting to happen. You, new people who think we care about your opinion and if you post or not. Yes, you\'re all disgusting.
On that note, I think I\'ll go watch Transformers.
:D
-
Ah, the joys of being a mod... I can reply to this post and you can\'t say I suck. ;)
Anyway, I saw the Matrix: Revolutions last night (for free thank God). I don\'t know where to begin... perhaps I can sum it up in one word: Bleh.
I found myself checking my watch every 10 mins, to see if this pile of crap was soon over. The \'mighty\' action scenes were just boring now - I was like "gee, where have I seen this before... that\'s right - FOUR FCKING YEARS AGO!". How many times can you see action taken from the original Matrix movie, only made a bit different, a bit longer, and not think \'yawn\'. Color me unimpressed.
* The Matrix was good. The VFX were impressive.
* Reloaded was disappointing. The VFX were alright (except for the Spiderman-isqe CG Neo which looked like crap).
* Revolutions was like Reloaded, only just not with any freshness that might have been in Reloaded. At least it didn\'t have sex and raves.
Another highpoint of boredom was the attack on Zion. Yay, 30 minutes of machines attacking the same way, all the time. Yay, men controlling large mechas (btw, was I the only one who cringed when they all lifted their \'arm\' and shouted like Rambo? Geez).
They should have made one sequel instead of Reloaded and Revolutions. Cut the pseudo-intellectual crap dialoge and trim the redundant action scenes. Then you could have two hours that might have worked.
But alas they did not. I guess they needed the money.
-
Kind of agree with sammy but i have to say.. couldn\'t all the time, money and effort of been better used by just having this on the black screen in large glowing white letters for 5 min\'s
+ve and -ve = Zer0
to explain everything that went on...
would of saved all that money they wasted on VFX... ;)
-
I am a die hard matrix fan I seen part 3 on the first day and I saw it again last week. Seeing it a second time made me realize how crappy it was. I am too shock to say how bad it was.

Gonna play frankenstein and raise this from the dead.
Movie was horrible, I nearly fell asleep during it. The fight scenes seemed to be tossed in, and not really a part of the movie. I don\'t know how to explain it, but the whole movie felt like the editor put the film through a shreder and glued it back together. I almost felt ripped off renting the movie, and kind of wished I would have watched it before wasting a DVDR. (kicks LIC in the nuts once again)
-
I bought it on release. Kickass movie imo.
-
I just watched it tonight and don\'t really know how I feel.
I guess I feel the same way I felt after watching the second one.
As the credits rolled all I could think to myself was..
"Oh, ok... it\'s over now I guess".
-
Bought it on release and have watched it four times since. IMO, Revolutions is on par with the first movie and an entirely fitting end for the trilogy.
The extras on the second dvd are good:)
Can\'t wait until Kill Bill Vol 1. on dvd this Tuesday:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
-
Remember, that Kill Bill vol 1 dvd will be REALLY bare bones. Don\'t expect much of anything in terms of extras and it doesn\'t even have the full color house of blue leaves crazy 88\'s fight like the Japanese version will have. I\'ll rent it to watch just so I\'m refreshed for volume 2 on Friday, but I\'ll wait for the super hyper deluxe mega re-release boxset after volume 2 comes out on dvd.
-
I just rent both dvds when it come out. I read mixed reviews of this movie.

It has been confirmed by Tarinto himself. He has said there will be a barebones of each movie, then an SE of each movie and then some kind of super-duper BOX SET / extra edition for fans...
With that said, the US release is barebones, but I will get it. I will also pick up the Jap version for the uncut House of Blue\'s scene.....
And Sir - you\'re on crack. Best sci-fi trilogy ever? Well, number one, I don\'t think so - but number two, there isn\'t exactly a lot of sci-fi trilogys to begin with, unless you seperate the Star Wars series by the prequels and the originals.
-
Do many even consider Kill Bill all that great to get such treament? I guess just because it\'s a Tarantino film it speaks for itself, even though it ain\'t all that. I know people will disagree but the story isn\'t that compelling so far. Hope there\'s some interesting plot twists nex ttime around.
-
Rented Kill Bill, since there are no more disc, i just go with the tape (the quality isn\'t that good in tape but oh well)....
The opening fighting scene was quite interesting, then i feel the story runs too long and boring. Videogames have a lot of excellent japanese music tracks, but this movie put shame on japanese music. I admit the story isn\'t that great, just average. If they edited the movie to make it shorter (get rid of some unmportant part like the japanese guy that taught the bride how to use the sword and get to the point....), the grade will be a bit higher.
But i actually do like some fighting scenes like the vernita green, go go yubari....but i find the fighting scene with lucy liu was quite short and somewhat uninteresting.
Another part i like is lucy liu making that speech at the meeting....
hopefully i didn\'t spoil anything if anyone haven\'t seen it.
overall, i gave it a 7 out of 10....to me, its a worthy of rental....don\'t flame me, its my opinion and personal taste.
-
Videogames have a lot of excellent japanese music tracks, but this movie put shame on japanese music.
man RZA from wu-tang wrote the whole score for the movie i thought it was good shit
-
oK after reviewing the entire story plot and now having a understanding of the entire series. I like the 3rd one a whole lot. Although I feel some the dialog is just way too long.
The ending could have been a lot better IMO but still worth all the wait.
IMO kill bill is just all bad. This could have actually been a very good movie but instead comes off as one the worst he has done.
I know he like to take chances and be creative. I will give him that but the dialog and the action is just terrrible.
I have know intension on seeing kill bill ever again.

Lets keep the Kill Bill stuff in the thread we already have I just bumped back to the top inlcuding the volume 2 stuff. You can quote from this thread if you like because I\'m not going to bother moving or deleting the few posts in here pertaining to it.
-
heh i just seen revelations last night on encore...i thought it was ok....there were some parts i didn\'t understand, but after goin\' throught this thread i have a more clearer conception of the film...i don\'t think they should make a sequel or a new beginning. even tho i felt that somehow the ending could\'ve been better, it\'s best to let this series just end...
what i didn\'t understand was at the end where neo was fighting smith i think, and smith smashed him into the ground,...then they showed the oracle lying there in the puddle...what was that about? maybe i\'m confused on that part, but i\'m sure it happened...overall i say it\'s a decent action joint, with the first one still being the best....
-
You have awoken the dead (this thread)
I hated every movie after the first movie. I waited almost 3 hours in line for this crap of a movie.
-
I was only impressed with the special effects after the first one. The first one, awesome. Second one, ok. Third one, sucked.

HUGE MATRIX FAN here and the rest can just bite me...
Smith was like a Virus clips that had infected everyone and eveything including the Oracle wich he took over her body so when Neo defeted him the oracle was returned.

no dissrespect evi,..but that makes no sense...just because the original died, does not mean they had to change the script because of it...change actors yes, but not the script...
-
They did change the script to accomadate the change of actresses. A very small change, all they did was explain she was in a new shell, that had no effect on the rest of the story.
-
or the end where clips is talking about if you dislked the movie so much why even post?

fiesta as in *** fiesta?
I feel bad just knowing that.
In any case - im a matrix fan too. The first and the animatrixes (along with the small short comics) were great. The second 2 i liked as well though i think i like the 3rd more than the second. Either way, I love them despite the level of hatred the last 2 recieved.
-
The problem with the sequels is that they split the plot to make it a trilogy and get twice the sales they would have without two sequels.
They have weakened the plot that way.Thats why the caused headache to many with the battle scenes in Zion that must have lasted 45 minutes probably. There wasnt enough plot to make the movie long enoughso they decided to throw the long fight in it to make the movie long enough.
Also another problem is that a huge proportion of the fans lack knowledge to understand the movie\'s real influences. They come up with ton of stupid speculations like "man Neo represents Christ" and BS like that.
They give the impression that the Matrix was just a ton of random, meaningless, vague, surficial things put there just to make a movie with cool effects.Well its not.
Even mm called it a Tron ripoff. How wrong he was
-
Make your sig cuter :)
I wish they let me have that script, or just any good story teller. They could have thrown in some cool elements instead of things just because they needed to waste time.
For example instead of Neo being at the train station at the beginning of 3 (which was just silly and useless) I would have put him back in his old office environment like in Matrix 1. This time w/o his powers & he has to find out how to get to a phone with Agents chasing him. Well it seems cool to me anyway. :>
The "Trainman" was a waste of time and so was the Marovingian (sp?) in the 3rd one. Trinity just pointed a gun to his head and said give us Neo or die. How creative...
-
well i just took the movies for what they were to me....entertainment. i wasn\'t tryin to break down the true meaning of it if there was one...i have no real complaints about any of the films except one scene that was in reloaded...the scene where neo finally talks to the architect..unless you really listened to what they where saying you could have easily gotten lost in that whole conversation...i thought that scene anyway was complete filler. they talked on and on for what seemed to be like 10- 15 minutes about nothing but gibberish...
-
I remember talking to people afterwards like the next day at school and even when we were coming home from the theater the night it was released. We were all pretty dissappointed. I guess if you took it for what it was, it was entertaining. I was holding it up to the expectations of the first one.

That conversation was too complicated to understand.Someone must be very intellectual to get it.It was certaintly not a conversation to be in a movie that is directed to everyone. That should have been in a lecture for egg heads. And I am certaintly not one :p
It mixed probability theories, errors and statistical shit, gnostic science, matters regarding human behaviour, conscience etc.
I am still very far from understanding all of it :p

That scence was almost my favorite scene of all the movies. It let us to make asumption of how the third one was going to end it.
THe scene I find I hated the most was the whole zion love fest scene with neo and trin makeing babies yuck!!

THe scene I find I hated the most was the whole zion love fest scene with neo and trin makeing babies yuck!!
Yeah...Trin seems a little man-whorish to me :/
-
lol yeah very true.Neo looked more effeminate than Trinity
-
Plus, they had all of those friggin\' plugs sticking out every which way. The whole thing was wrong.
-
See it this way. These "extra holes" probably opened a whole new world in kama sutra and tantra techniques :p
They may be of some use other than entering the matrix.
-
The future should be more like that stallone flick the could have "plugged" into each and have beautifull "Matrix" sex.
-
Demolition Man
w/ Sandra Bullock
-
lol clips, that whole scene was pretty much the only important scene in the movie. Everything else was just filler. :p
-
ookay just one last question on revolutions then we can lay this thread to rest..i just seen it again on cable a couple of nights ago and i gotta ask...did neo die at the end? i question this because even tho after smith was destroyed, that machine thingy or the king of the machines dragged neo with him, thing is tho when he was dragging him they showed a quick glace of that yellow glow that showed how neo see\'s the world since he lost his eyesight...
so was neo dead or just knocked out? the oracle never really answered that question in the end only saying "i believe so"....in reference to him being seen again...
-
Since that movie was chock full of bilblical and buddhist references, it could mean a million things. And the way he was laying at the end looked like Jesus on the cross. And there was a part where he was laying in that machine that looked like the buddha flower...never mind.
-
If you pause the DVD when Morpheus looks up at the sky you can see the shadowy figures of Shooter McGavin\'s coach, Abe Lincoln, and an Aligator.
ps- i think neo\'s dead

Let us hope there will be no future Matrix films. The only way they could be done right is if someone else writes the screenplay and directs. The W brothers ruined a good idea with too much bullshit.

Yes, they did.

One of em had a sex change.
But aside from that keep the costume designers, cinematographers, and choreography experts. I agree the script got stupid but I really liked the idea of how the hax0rz could control a lot of the things in the matrix.

It\'s out of their hands now anyway, Warner Brothers owns The Matrix and they have the final say on how to make more money out of it. Unlike George Lucas\'s StarWars, which is still in the hands of its original creator.

The oracle said they would see him again because everything that had happened had had before so inevatbly the world will crash again and will replay over... The architect said he once made a world or perfect harmony but the human wouldnt accept it and thats how the matrix came about today. So he made it again like it did before and it will fail again.

Eh I didn\'t really like matrix 2 or 3, got a little too confusing and they just over did the fight scenes, I would have much rather had neo look like a real person than a cartoon character from FF: The spirits within.

I would have prefered 2 and 3 to be a 2 hour one movie instead.Unfortunately WB wanted extra cash.
