Title: Official NBA 03-04 thread
Post by: Halberto on November 07, 2003, 04:26:35 PM
I\'ll start by saying Lakers are still the underdog in the west. Last night the Spurs (without Duncan, Parker, and Carter) kept the Lakers into 2 overtimes. What does that tell you?

:p

Oh shutup you retard. We won, regardless of anything. And are 5-0... How is that being the underdog?

With Vivi\'s logic, I say the Spurs won\'t even make the playoffs cuz they have no defense whatsoever and got outrebounded like the punks they are... I\'ve never seen a team so reliable on their star player like those hapless Spurs!

You obviously don\'t know what you\'re talking about... no defense?

Yes, you won. With a severly handicapped team. Duncan is a 2 time consecutive MVP for a reason. Tony Parker is one of the best PG\'s in the leage (better than peyton) and isn\'t even 22 years old. Carter deals a lot of assists and a few points.

If you ask me, Lakers should be worried.

EDIT: as of right now, Spurs are ranked 10th in opp. points, and that includes the 120 point game from thursday.

BTW, your Lakers are 24th in opp. points ;)

Tony Parker is better than Gary Payton??

I watched the game and agree, the Spurs lost in OT while missing their 2 best players.  I mean if Duncan and Parker would have scored one more point than their replacment, the Spurs win.

Gary Payton>Tony Parker

BTW, Lakers are 5-0. Spurs are 3-3. I think that matters more than who has more opp points. ;)

Hey... Lakers were winded from that long night at San Antonio, but I\'ll take that 5-1 record anyday.

And I was joking, as I clearly stated I was talking through your standards (which is through my ass), and just blurting out random biased comments.

Would the Spurs had won that game with Duncan and Parker? Who knows? Maybe, maybe not. Until they return and then play the Lakers we\'ll find out. Omen, you can\'t look at it in terms of them just scoring a single point determining the outcome because then you would have to deduct the points they would have taken from other players, etc.

And Tony Parker being better than Gary Payton is by far the most ludicrous thing you\'ve ever posted. Even more so than thinking cancer is funny.

Actually, the cancer thing was worse.. But the Parker thing is pretty up there too.

TP stats from LAST YEAR : 15.5 ppg,  5.3 apg, .337 3P% , .464 FG%,

Payton this year: 15.3 ppg, 8.5 apg, .250 3P%, .429 FG%

Tony still is yet to play a season game. And He\'s only getting better and better. Anyone else remember the games where he outplayed Kidd?

I\'m sorry but those Assists per game, Payton is owning. And if I have a PG, I want him to spread the ball around. Payton knows how to do that.

Oh, and you totally forgot to mention how great a defensive player Payton is...

If Ginobli can have his game stepped up every night like that, the Spurs are an easy pick for the title.

You\'re kidding right? The suns are pretty good and have a young team. In a year or two they will be major contendors.

BigMike: (San Antonio): give me your take on the spurs. I was at the double overtime LA game and i was laughing in my seat that this so called 70 win team couldn\'t handle our "B" team. You can\'t actually tell me that LA can keep up with spurs healthy with all of our youth and talent. Also, Malone is old and worthless. He doesnt have anything in him anymore.

Marc Stein: If you want to write Malone off, that\'s your call. But I\'m with you on the Spurs. It was a fine example of how their system works even when some of the main pieces are missing. Of course, it also helps when Manu and Malik go nuts. I still like this team very, very much when you put Duncan and Parker back. Manu is clearly taking to his promotion to the starting lineup -- Robert Horry obviously knew what he was saying a few weeks back when he told us that the three of them of are a pretty fabulous trio in their own right.

Apparently my logic is as good as a ESPN writer Swifdi

Pacers first in the East...going to die off after the All Star break again.  Scot Pollard, what a horrible acquisition.

I swear, I have the worst luck when I go to games.  Went to the Sixers Rockets game on monday...74-66 Rockets?  WTF?  The only entertaining thing was to see Iverson just walk off the court and back to the lockerroom in frustration with the clock still running and like 12 seconds still left in the game.  He was out of sight before the game even officially ended

Zo needs a kidney transplant and looks like he will never play again.

I wonder what must be going through Kidd\'s mind.

Here\'s to Zo.  God knows as a Knicks fan I never liked him, but you never want to see this happening.  I wish him only the best of luck with this...it goes way beyond the game.
