Title: growing old
Post by: clips on November 09, 2003, 02:51:53 PM
Do you guys ever wonder about this? Heh..I just turned 33 back in oct & i wonder about growing old gracefully.Y\'know i still wear baggy jeans & tims & i still hang out once in awhile in the clubs. Eh i guess it\'s ok my kids think that i\'am the cool dad lol! I just don\'t want to be 40 yrs old still dressin like that. Can u imagine that? A 40 yr old still wearin thro-back jerseys ha! I see myself at 40 with a clean shavin baldy head a house & very distinguished like denzel! right now my life isn\'t much different from that  will & jada pinkett show:banghead:  ..it\'s new, i forgot the name ..hmmm...anyway  thoughts?

As for the topic, do what you want.  I don\'t see age as a big factor.  I have a lot of respect for people doing what they want and not what society wants us to be.  If you turn 40 and you\'re still wearing to jerseys than hey, good for you.  If you want to be the clean shaven distinguished Denzel than go for that.  Just don\'t do it because you think that\'s what you should be.  Do it because you want to.  That\'s my two cents.

Well, if you\'re a millionare rapper you can wear throwbacks at 40 and still be whorshipped by suburban white kids ;)

But IMO, 40 is no longer the age of being old.  It used to be, but it had since gone up to around 50.  So I\'d say as long as you feel comfortable with whatever you wear, it shouldn\'t matter.  People who "try" to look and act young are usually the ones that are frowned upon.

I\'m with swiftdi on this one.  It was a dumb question but I don\'t think it deserved deletion.

I\'m 39 and if I did not have to write down my birth date every so often, I would still believe that I\'m 12.

Screw it, the minute you think that you\'re old . . . YOU\'RE OLD!

You\'ll get there too.

You know, the other cool thing about getting older is that you have the money to buy cool stuff that you can only dream of when you\'re a young\'n.

You are going to blink and those twenty years will be just but a memory. The one thing I have learned is that if you have a dream go for it because some day it will be too late. I know that sounds corny and old but it\'s true.  Try not to be a dick-head on the way there and you should be alright. ;)

clips, my philosophy has always been do what you want and don\'t let anyone talk you out of it. Wear what you want, club if you want and enjoy yourself. You only live once.

don\'t crap on this guys thread, take your argument somewhere else.

To add to what\'s been said, wear what you want...as long as it\'s not a "Members Only" jacket

I don\'t know why what you wear should be an issue these days, I mean jeez, you can get away with anything these days.

As long as your comfortable and not directly impacting anyone else (your family) then wear what you want. My only problem is 40 year old still thinking they are 18. As long as you have the mind set then who cares?

Hmmm, I\'m 36 and I thought I was the old man on these forums.  Guess I was wrong.  :)

It seems we don\'t all get conservative when we get older, just some of us.  :p

Up to like 5 or 3 years ago, I was still wearing mine. Those jackets rocked.
