Title: How many games have you played online?_
Post by: nycgamer on November 10, 2003, 04:04:34 PM: …and of the ones you’ve played, which ones do you think are the best for online multiplayer gaming? So far I’ve only played three ~ Halo, TRON 2.0, and RTCW. They’re all fun in different ways so I have no complaints. I had a couple of gripes for TRON multiplayer, but they’ve already eliminated just about every problem with the upgrade patches and they’ve got more on the way (if only ALL developers were so quick to fix problems…). To log into gamespy arcade, one would think that Halo is the only online game anyone ever plays… so it would be nice to see people talk about other online games you play.

Post by: Blade on November 10, 2003, 05:25:02 PM: Quake II, Half-Life, Quake III, RTCW, RTCW:ET, Tribes, Worms 2, UT, Unreal, Doom, Quake, and Tony Hawk 2.

Out of those, mostly Q2/Q3/RTCW/RTCW:ET. Which is the best? In gameplay, either RTCW:ET or Q3 for different reasons. RTCW:ET is the refined RTCW, and Q3 is the refined Q2. In their most basic forms.. one caters to lovers of slower, more realistic.. mostly squad/team-based combat where each person has a specific role. (RTCW)

The other caters to those with lightning quick reflexes and a hankering for unrealistic carnage. Not to say that mods have been created in both games, in which this basic gameplay is totally scrambled.

For example, my two favorite Q3 mods are very team-oriented.

Enough with the rambling.. which one do I like more? Neither, but I play mostly (if not exclusively) RTCW:ET these days. The servers are full of newbies and the maps are starting to get old.. but I play it daily.

Post by: Blade on November 11, 2003, 04:30:06 PM: Oh, well I did play EverQuest for 2 weeks and didn\'t like it. Forgot about that one.. that was 3 years ago..

I might eventually try FFXI or Matrix Online, but EQ can suck it IMHO. It\'s not a bad game, but the combat and general feel were unpolished. That was 3 years ago, though; maybe things have gotten better with EQ2.

It\'s nice to have more than just disc arena or light cycles. There are still a few bugs to iron out, but for the most part I\'ve had fun with it. As for SP, I just think it has some of the most unique and visually stunning images from any game I\'ve seen;

What is RTCW? I know when you type it out I will recognize it instantly, but really, give us a little assistance please. At least write it out the first time, AND THEN use the acronym. Thank you.

The only game I really played alot of and continue to play is Warcraft 3.

but i did spend some years at imperial &/ delta diku-Muds. (something like 10-5 years ago, >lev50 wizard named ember :)
