Title: True Crime:Streets of LA
Post by: Skyrider666 on November 15, 2003, 04:16:09 PM
Just got this yesterday and thought I would give you some impressions(feel free to input yours to).Well to me it feels a little closer to Getaway than GTA,the cars drive a little better than Getaway but worse than GTA.The gun fights feel almost the same as Getaway, but sometimes the targeting can get a little annoying. The fighting beats both Getaway and gta with the ability to learn more attacks eg stomps, elbow drops, running kicks, throws and finishers. But the best part is the variety of random crimes. So far I have shot Hungry Hector the cannibal,Killed some street racers(no mercy) and ran over bank robbers. There is many more but these are just a few to give you an Idea. The only bad thing is sometimes you\'ll be driving along and the whole game stops for 1 sec and then starts again.

Overall I would say this game has it\'s problems but it\'s worth the purchase.(please note this is after only a days play, will put more comments after playing for longer later)

8/10

Just for reference
GTA:VC 9/10
The Getaway 7.5/10

The only thing that True Crime does better than the other games you mentioned is the size of the city. Other than that it\'s lacking in comparision. The car physics are very basic, resulting in very poor handling which is a shame, the on foot controls aren\'t up to scratch either. The game is also hampered by a poor camera, the mission structure is all wrong to. They should have followed The Getaway here instead of going back and forth to the menu screen, and I don\'t agree with your view to the random crimes because I just keep getting the same crap everythime I play the game. And the slowdown is due to the game engine loading in the next segment of the city, The Getaway had the same problem.

My score
4/10

It\'s not bad but I prefer Vice City. It\'s better than The Getaway though.

didnt get the slow mo shooting a first, it not as fun as gta, but better than the getaway.

Me dont like. my flatmate has it for the xbox, its ok for a couple of hours but it gets really repetive, every mission, fight, sneak, drive, shoot. All exactly the same but in a different area. It freezes every so often as well, more like it crashes actually. The load times are horrible too, and the draw distance aint exactly great. VC is a lot, lot better.

5/10
