You\'d think with Linda Perry and Rancid\'s Tim Armstrong she could actually dish out something decent. Not that I was expecting much, but her last album was pretty impressive.

\'Try This\' on the other hand sounds nothing like her previous album. The songs really, really suck.

She already said in interviews that she knew it prolly wouldn\'t be popular, but that she didn\'t want to be "popular" if she had to keep her old style.

Its not so much the music itself, but the lyrics.

In one song, the entire chorus is "You ain\'t nothin but a hooker, selling your f*cking soul". It just repeats and repeats and repeats. Its totally whacked. Its good she\'s following her heart and doing what she wants, but she has to remember the idea is to sell records.

Just take a listen to it and I think you will all agree. It sounds like she whipped it up in 2 hours.

As for her old albums... well, there\'s some good stuff mixed in with the "peh" stuff.

Her first album had like 2 good songs, her second, most of the singles were standard pop fare but there were some really stand out tracks for me, (My Vietnam, Lonely Girl, Gone To California).
