okay guys here we gio again
sorce from url:http//www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6078216
with the jury still out on whether or not console and computer games make addicts out their most dedcated players .oprah has
decided to enter the debate .
while not viewed with the same high esteem as charlie rose or
jim lehrer.oprah does have her devotees, and if her producers
have their way.those devotees will soon be able to look in a living
breathing video game addict or mother of one in the eye.
on show\'s website a page prompts readers to respond to a plug
that ask " are you addicted to video games?
the promotions continues , asking readers to consider to whereter
their game playing has "compicated your life or your child\'s life,
has affected your social life " or has created"feeling of anger or
withdrawal when not playing
since other plugs on the site seek those who"left the fast-track
for mommy track" and those who are stay-at-home moms with
secret addictions," it seem unlikely oprah will put the game addiction debate to rest anytime soon.
what you guys think?

I think people need to stop getting so worked up about it, they\'re just computer games. If the real world isn\'t as much fun as the digital world then that\'s just too bad.
Besides, I must have saved so much money by getting addicted to some games!

^^
I agree, but there are also some people that go alittle over the top. Its great to have some kind of passion, but if that passion turns you into a living breathing zombie then something is seriously up. Its kinda sad seeing the totally hardcore gamers at EB talking to the sales rep about just how \'mad\' a certain game is. BUT, if you enjoy it and you don\'t go too far as to thinking GTA is real (like that incident where ever it was) and your not hurting anyone then you should mind your own buisness.

Hmm. I myself don\'t play THAT much. But i have a very deep  passion for games. Though it is not
only through the activity of gaming itself ;
- 3D computer graphics
- design
- artwork
such things are highly related to games and therefor
\'gaming\' is indeed very interesting in contrast to the so
called molding of anti sociopaths.

I wonder where they\'re attempting to go with this "videogames are addicting and make people bad parents" thing.
If someone starts pushing for another media ban, I suggest going one step further and razing Las Vegas, reinstating prohibition, and stopping the production of cigarettes.
Damn addicts. Ruin it for everybody.

Games took up so much of my time as a youngster that I never had time to smoke, drink, or take drugs. I see games as a positive thing in this respect.

So you actually saved money as well. Going out cost $$.

Correct! :D
*caresses large wallet full of cash gently*

I dont see how being addicted to video games is any worse than being addicted to nicotine, bird watching, or pornography.
Its just a new thing, and people have to realise that the future is at hand.

Only two groups should be carefully watched in the realm of video gaming:
A. These stupid, stupid kids that think that because an activity (shooting at cars) is justified in a game (GTA, for one) it\'s also justified in real life.
B. People that sit it front of a computer for 24+ hours sometimes, and those who neglect everything else to accomplish similar tasks. i.e. Those folks that don\'t feed their children because they\'re too busy playing EQ.

^^
Exactly.

If I had a job I woulnt be so addicted
