Title: Anybody played Manhunt?
Post by: FifaSeriesFan on November 21, 2003, 07:08:55 AM
Just wondering if anybody has played this?
If so what do you think?
I\'d love some opinions as I\'m not paying £40 of my hard earned money if it\'s another state of emergency.
that game was boring and repetitive after a week or two.

yes I actually played SOE for 2 weeks!
Then MGS2 came out.

anyway, back to subject...have Rockstar come good with this?
Or should they just stick to the GTA series?

I\'m thinking of renting it but I\'m snowed under this weekend with work and the girlfriend, plus pubbing and clubbing (mixing work with pleasure eh?) and I\'ve played PES3,FIFA 2004,LOTR:ROTK,Eyetoy:Groove and Smackdown!HCTP tooooo much.

still love PES3 though. You have to.

Yeah I haven\'t played it but the way I interpret the reviews is that it\'s probably a super gory version of Hitman 2. For example, trial and error stealth type missions etc. I would speculate that it\'s probably similiar to Hitman but with much higher production quality.

That\'s my take. And where the heck is it snowing at this time of year in the UK? Sorry I\'m from U.S. so i\'m not too sharp on these things.

I bought it Thursday at Best Buy for $49.99 + a Free $10 gift card. Very cool game. Very atmospheric. Not what I would call an "action" game. You have to be very steathy in your movements. You can hide in the shadows and then perform numerous "executions" depending on the weapons you have. I am on the third level right now, and so far the weapons I have come across are the plastic bag, shard of glass, two different baseball bats(one more powerful, but slower), and a crowbar. The gangmembers are pretty cool, and they made me jump a few times when they came running out of the shadows screaming insanely with only bloodlust in their minds. I really like it so far.

yep and SOE sucked...

anyway,I decided to buy this along with T.H.U.G. and I\'ll admit it\'s really good.

I love the fact that you can use the headset and if you speak,it comes up in the game and if you say something, the opposition gang members can hear you and are alerted.

I\'m playing it on Fetish (Normal) Mode and it\'s a challenge.

Brian Cox (Stryker from X2) is superb as The Director and he comes out with some top class insults and compliments depending on how well or bad you are doing.

It kinda reminds me of Splinter Cell in the sense that it has some great stealth elements to it.

Very Violent too.
I suffocated this guy with a carrier bag whilst he was taking a p*ss against a wall.
Plus I just made a guy beg for his life before slitting his throat.unfortunately,I didn\'t see his gang come up and kick and shoot the living sh*t out of me.

I went and got Manhunt today.  It\'s not as gory as the reviews lead you to believe.

There\'s blood, there\'s stabbing, there\'s baseball bats, but it\'s been done before.

It is fun to creep around with the headset waiting to give away your position.  I find myself holding my breath as I try to figure the best way to sneak on the next hunter.

So far I\'m on like level 3.

Yah i rented this one. I had the feeling that i wouldnt want to buy it. I dont want to get your hopes up because some may like it more than i do. I thought it was a pretty kool game but either im just really good at these kind of games or it was really pretty easy (except some parts towards the end). I breezed through it days before the rental date was up.

A lot of people said it gets repetative but to me it doesnt. You have to find new ways to manipulate and/or operate around your environment.

Another thing that killed it for me was the replay value. Sucked, and the bonus material wasnt enough either. Even on Hardcore its not that insane.

Id consider it a rental

Lord, are you sure you finished the game that quickly? I am finding it very difficult. Its taken me like a week just to get past like two levels. I have only just gotten the nail gun and its so much fun.

The game is not repetative, and I cannot see how anyone could say there isn\'t enough gore. Sure, blood is one thing, but the brutal exercutions are another. The way you chop peoples heads off, the sound effects, the LANGUAGE, its all very immersive, very high quality game, glad I bought it. Its gotta be the best game of its kind out there. Beats GTA series hands down. The graphics are much better, its more violent, smooth frame rate, excellent story and great gameplay. Its also excellent as a stealth game, up there with MGS.

Rented it for two days and got to the point where some bum is following me around... Get\'s repetative. I constantly find myself doing the same thing... Hide in a shadow, hit something... Guy comes over... Kill the guy... Rinse... Repeat.

Sort of hard to know where the game ends and reality begins I bet.

:D ;)

^^^

Hehehe

As for that level, damn, i found that hard. I am up to the bit where you are in jail and you have to do two different styles of excacutions, but its hard cause there are 3 guys and they won\'t break up.

Its an excellent game. Sure, you do the same stuff, but its just so exciting getting new weapons, and doing new stuff. I am a racer fan, but this is the first game of this kind other then RES EVIL that I have really enjoyed.

If thats the case then i guess im just really f*ing good at this game. I cant really prove to you that i beat the game other than telling you everything that happens at the end which i wont do for your sake.

Its not a bad game at all. Its just the replay value that kills it for me. The grafics are nice, everything is kool really but like i said its just not enough to hold me.

I\'ve been playing it quite a bit lately.  I just finished off the level Racer was talking about.  And I\'m impressed you beat it so quickly too, Nicon.

I\'m putting in between 30 minutes and more than an hour on each level. There\'s 20 levels.  I couldn\'t believe how long I was taking so I really stepped it up the last two days and banged out some more levels.

I\'m having a blast, and just before when I was all done playing I could feel it.  The game just grips you and pulls you in.  It\'s fun as hell.

Ahh, good, clean, gory, dirty fun. That\'s the best kind, it would seem.

After a while of playing, it gets pretty mind-warping. All you do is kill. Murder murder murder over and over. You do get to rescue a couple people, but only after lots of murder. ;]

It\'s a weird feeling.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Brian Cox is now known as "Stryker" from X2, instead of Hannibal Lector in \'Manhunter\' (oh..note: Brian Cox has been in two roles with the name \'Manhunter\', the prequel to Silence of the Lambs and now this game!).
