Anybody here into home theater system? If so, I would like to hear you comments about Bose before I make mine.
-
We\'ve got a Yamaha setup with two Bose box\'s and they kick ass,had them for probably 5 years and never had a problem with them. But I don\'t know much more than that. :iono:

overpriced hype boxes

No highs, no lows. Must be bose.
They suck, and i mean UBERLY suck. They use paper cone woofers. They charge an insane amount for their car audio options. You can go much better for half the price. Paradigm, Energy, PSB, Axiom are just a few that fit tihs category.

Bottom line: People think they are great because when they\'re shopping at Sam\'s Club they see the $58 KOSS speakers then next to it is the shiny bose cube setup that costs $1200. Higher price + good looks = best speaker in the world.

Videoholics and THX are both correct.
Lucky things I never own any. Its their marketing powers the fooled the uninformed buyers. They think that if they buy something expensive, it must be good. Bose cost like what $50 to produce and sell, but they charge $1000 for it.
I don\'t know much about speakers, I think people should realize this, small speakers can\'t compare to big speakers in performance. Bose are too small and too expensive!
If uniformed consumer keep supporting piece of crap, then Bose will get filthy rich for making crappy speakers that should cost about $200 max but charger $1000-$2,000. I see other brands that sell small speakers, but they are more honest about the price and the marketing. Say like they spent about $50 but charge about $250 while Bose charge up to $1000 while both gaves about the same quality, or maybe better than bose.
I have a feeling videoholics would chime in and i was right. Remember me? the guy that asked about calibration tv over a year ago, and you gave me a good information about it and the link?
So. seeing now that I post my comments, whoever didn\'t know and read this should realize that bose are expensive and are no good. They sucks so bad, their marketing strategy are very misleading. I can say it the worst marketing than any brands I know. They sell stuff that are 15 to 20 times of it price while other brands sell 3 - 7 of it price but sounds much, much better.
Keep this in mind, SMALL SPEAKERS ARE NO GOOD AND SHOULD BE SELL CHEAP, NOT EXPENSIVE.

Aww, I wanted to rant against Bose. Now you a-holes ruined my fun. :D
-
They might be overpriced but you guys can\'t say they are shit.Have any of you actually had any BOSE speakers or is this just what you heard? I\'m not saying it\'s the best there is,but no way is it shit.

I read from a site and this is what it said for the specification:
frequency response for speakers:
280hz - 20khz
subwoofer: 46hz -20khz?
dB: 88 (+/- 10 dB)
something else i can\'t remember. While other speakers like this one for instance have a spec of 40hz-20khz or higher.
subwoofer: 20hz-20khz
dB: 90 (-/+ 3 dB)
Based on the spec of, the bose is out of spec and the speaker can\'t make go sound because its too small and can\'t go 80hz or lower. its in 280hz, too ridiculously high. i will let someone chime in about this.

Maybe the Yamaha speakers are making up for the bad area in the bose speakers?I don\'t know much about this stuff but I know that the system we have doesn\'t sound shit.
-
Bose throws a whole bunch of mids at you, I listen to their stuff at the Military exchange from time to time, plus they always have a little demo setup at Best Buy. There are obvious holes in frequency response. They just don\'t sound full range as any other speaker costing that much would. I\'m guessing Bose keeps it that way in order to prevent them from blowing. Paper cones can only handle so much power at key frequencies.
Sky- if you hook up a pair of B&W 600+ series speakers in place of those bose I think you will want to throw em away.
-
My dad had 901s when I was a kid. THey were full size speakers though. Not the tiny satellite system they are selling now. THey sounded good for what I knew then, but I didn\'t know anything...
I would love to get a new set of speakers, but bose wouldn\'t get 2 minutes of my time. There is far better out there for the same price.
-
The speakers are all right for the moment but if they need replacing I\'ll look into B&W 600+ as you guys would probably know more about this than me.
