There\'s a region zero DVD published in Australia that I want to purchase, and I\'m looking for a good online retailer. Do you know of any reliable ones that ship internationally? Thanks!
-
Not sure about the Aussie part - but I know quite a few different places for DVD\'s.
What DVD? I may of seen it somewhere.

"Paris, Texas" released by Madman Cinema.

This is the DVD. It\'s listed on this Australian website, but I think they only sell wholesale. I can\'t figure out how to create an account with them, and you need an account to complete your transaction after adding it to the shopping cart.
I\'m going to begin searching for a retailer, and I\'ll post if I find an acceptable one.

Looks like a form to register - but it\'s for trading or some nonsense.
Leave it to Aussie\'s to make a site like that.

damn, never knew there were this many aussies here. ;)
I have no idea were to order dvds online.. Maybe http://Http://www.blockbuster.com.au

I found the DVD on another website, and it says it\'s region 0, but "formatted for PAL displays, (Australian standard)" or something like that. Can I assume that this simply refers to the aspect ratio of the image, and not to some alternate standard of data encoding? What I mean is... the disk will play on my region 1 player, and display on my US spec television, right? The aspect ratio might be a bit off, but if I can scale it using the DVD and television controls, I should be able to get a good viewable image, right?
Or am I wrong?
-
Wrong. If your DVD player is not NTSC / PAL - you won\'t get an image. Different encoding / speed.
What dvd player do you have? It needs to be multi-region and display PAL/NTSC signals
-
yea you can play it in your PC with hacked firmware for the DVD-ROM but unless you grab a multiregion player you can\'t watch it. :(
-
FIE!
I\'m not going to buy a multi region player just to watch one DVD. I wish they\'d get around to releasing the Region 1 version already. Damn studio has been saying they would bring it out for years.

No way to play it on an NTSC set. Have to play it on the pooter.

If I\'m ordering online I\'ll use the top shop ^^^
Can\'t you get a chip for PS2 to play all region DVD?
-
The DVD is multiregion, so that\'s not the issue. The disk is encoded in PAL format, not NTSC. Why do you Australians always have to be different? Even the canadians use NTSC, and they\'re a commonwealth country!
Oh well, at least you call your currency the "dollar" so you got something right. :)
-
I guess their electricity operates at 50Hz, along with the rest of Europe? Aren\'t all Aussies just convicts from the Uk anyway?
-
Someone always brings that up! :D :o
Now we have to wait for Bob and Racer to go ape shit. :)
-
I know, I saw how the two related and that was my cue. ;)
-
Yeah, Australia uses the superior format known as PAL. ;)
They are all dingo lovers and ex-convicts though.
-
Superior in color and rez indeed ;) Well, a lot of things here are becoming NTSC/PAL compatible. So we can choose.
as for convicts. Guess you yanks haven\'t heard of that thing called "independence day"
Australia don\'t have much to do with the monarchy these days.
We did have a referendum, but choice to stay within the commonwealth. Say, how many of you even know where australia is...
"goes and walks he\'s wombat"
;)

So Cored, did you find it?
Yanks are just as much of jail scum as Aussies are. We all come from the same place (UK and Ireland).
