Here ya go, this will tickle your funny bone! Mainly for the real pc guys.

I decided to install the origional doom tonight "on floppys mind you" everything went fine except for the fact that it lags terribly when I try to play it!

How is it possible for my pc "Pentium celeron 533 MHZ w/ ATI rage pro 128 16mb vid card" & 512 mb of ram have such bad lag and poor frame rates for a game that came out about 10 years ago!?!?! Yes it\'s the real game and real floppys, I bought it for 1 dollar @ a garage sale lOL.

My OS is Windows XP Pro. You get me to run Doom without any lag or crap frame rate and I\'ll come over to your place so you can kill me and then eat me afterwards ;).

I really want this game to run smoothly so post seriously...or not.

Are you running other programs while playing it? I couldn\'t run Kazaa while playing Tomb Raider 2 on a 1 gig Athlon, GF4 card, and 450 RAM.

well i would say try running it in windows 95 compatibilty mode - not sure if that would make a difference or not though

ive ran doom on my xp pro machine with no prob though

maybe its just time for you to downgrade your pc

Maybe you should have bought the windows version instead of the dos version.

Its ironic, I was just trying to reply to this thread and my crappy computer "runs out of resources". Seems to do that whenever I trash talk it. What I was trying to say was that this computer is from 2001 (win 98, Pentium 3 processor, 128 MB of ram) and can\'t run TIE Fighter. It has a shitload of lag and stops running then starts again.

I\'ve got you all beat in futility.  My Laptop is 1ghz, 512mb ram and a whopping 16mb video card....I can\'t play PONG without lag, seriously.

XP is a bit of a resource hog, and while you have enough ram, your CPU is pretty outta date.  What OS did you used to run before?  You might consider going to 2000, or even back to 98.

I\'m a big non-believer in celerons :(

I got you beat man. Mine is a Gateway Performance 550 with 550 MHz Pentium III processor, 128 MB RAM, 16 MB TNT2 (which is displaying black lines across my screen) with Win98 and I can\'t play Solitare without lag. OWNED :D
