Ozzy Osbourne was seriously injured today in an accident on the grounds of his estate in England and underwent emergency surgery, a spokeswoman said.
The 55-year-old rock star was riding a "quad bike," or all-terrain vehicle, on his Buckinghamshire property when the accident occurred, according to a statement issued by publicist Cindy Guagenti.
His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, she said.
An examination showed Osbourne broke his collarbone, six ribs and a vertebra in his neck, according to Guagenti. He was in surgery this evening at an undisclosed English hospital.
The operation was intended to lift the collarbone, which was believed to be resting on a major artery and interrupting blood flow to his arm. Surgeons also were trying to stem "some bleeding into his lungs," according to the statement.
Osbourne was taking a day off from promoting the United Kingdom release of "Changes," a duet with his daughter, Kelly, when the accident occurred.
Guagenti\'s office said no further information was immediately available.
"The Osbournes," the MTV reality show featuring the rocker, wife Sharon and their children, started production about a month ago on its third season, scheduled to begin January 13.
It was not immediately known how the accident would affect production or how or whether it might be included in the series, an MTV spokeswoman said today.
On Saturday, a story on the Los Angeles Times website reported Osbourne\'s claim that he was overprescribed a variety of powerful anti-psychotic and tranquillizing drugs by a Beverly Hills physician.
Osbourne said he developed a 42-pill per day habit that accounted for his odd behaviour on the hit MTV show, including scenes in which Osbourne was seen mumbling, falling and appearing disoriented.
Earlier this month, Osbourne told a British newspaper he was sexually molested as a child and suffered emotional effects from the abuse long into adulthood.

Too bad he went for the MTV deal, I hate it.

I thought the Osbournes ended last year. I\'m glad to see he\'ll pull through all right. I heard about it recently (I think to school this morning)

Yeah, we had a minute of silence, followed by Crazy Train played over the loudspeakers.
-
Why would you have a minute of silence? You only do that if someone dies. Ozzy isn\'t dead, just f\'ed up bad.
-

Let\'s just say that the tigers are having their way with him now, not the other way around.
