Title: What have you done to find out what you are getting?
Post by: videoholic on December 20, 2003, 05:01:29 AM: I remember when I was a kid and I would open my presents real carefully and peak inside to see what I got.

My friends parents use to put codes on the presents so you couldn\'t tell who each one is for.

It\'s been a long time since i\'ve rummaged around the house looking for hidden gifts.

Where I come from people wouldn\'t dare to threaten Santa or any of his people.
We have 13 santa\'s the eat kids, so ....yeah

Post by: SwifDi on December 20, 2003, 10:28:00 AM: Haha... Me and my sister used to unwrap all the gifts, and then re-wrap them. We found out that really killed the excitement on Christmas morning so we stopped.

Post by: Samwise on December 21, 2003, 12:47:05 AM: When I was smaller I\'d pick up the presents and shake them (if I could find them). I don\'t know how the hell you people would un- and rewrap the presents? I wouldn\'t be able to do that (without it being noticable at least ;)).

Slighty Off Topic: In every movie about getting presents in the US, the present is in, say, a box - and the box consists of two halves. So you can just open the top to see what\'s inside. Is this common practice?? Just seems a bit odd to me. Here presents are in, say, a box and paper is wrapped all around it. You can\'t open it easily and certainly not without \'destroying\' the paper. :D

Nope, presents here are the same as with you guys.

I had to shake the presents as well to find out. Of course, my parents also never learned to wrap DVDs and games in a bigger box until 2 years ago.

On another note - I wouldn\'t even want to know in advance what I\'m getting. Kinda spoils it a bit. ;) Although I don\'t really care about the presents anymore. I just enjoy the \'Christmas spirit\'. :D

My parents still haven\'t learned that. I get handed a DVD like thing wrapped. \'Oh geez I wonder what this is. Oh, thanks for the movie.

This year was almost a big surprise, my parents bought me a flat screen TV in October as my Xmas gift so I wasn\'t expecting anything until yesterday when they called me to see what kind of DVD burner would work with any of my PC\'s.

One other time my parents forgot to "hide" the plastic bag with a few of the presents in it.. I just had to look inside. :p

This year I didn’t have to do anything ( :mad: ), my mother asked me "oooh, you would not happen to know how Ratchet and Clank 2 looks in the box would you?
- Yes, why do you ask?
-Oh no, no reason.."

(slighty off topic) starting this year i have to put the gifts under
the tree on x-mas eve. my kids started wondering why the gifts
would be under the tree BEFORE x-mas! :p

I never really got to look we were pretty poor growing up it was just me and my mom and most of my present I had picked up at the goodwill center so I knew what they were

yes we do you little minor!:D anyway i know this is going off topic & i don\'t want to sound like an old head, but i just brought my son a gamecube & i brought sky fox adventures with it. but he has nin 64 & loves the smash bros. & mario cart. i\'m familiar w nintendo & all but i went to the mall & actually couldn\'t figure out what to get him. i was thinking about viewtiful joe, but i\'m for something towards a mario 64 or cart game. any suggestions. i know it\'s some cats in that can help me out! thx
