Title: Microsoft\'s Flight Simulator 2004
Post by: Seed_Of_Evil on December 24, 2003, 04:42:56 PM
I\'ve always loved planes. One of my dreams when I was a child was to fly over my village on those nice combat planes of the army. Then those dreams became nothing. I collected some publications on planes, figures, etc, but not so much. However, I still love planes.

I\'ve been thinking on purchasing the latest Microsoft\'s simulator: Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight. My previous PC settings didn\'t allow me to play this kinda games. Now, I think it can run \'em, although my graphic card is not a jewel.

Reviews say it\'s a good game. Not excellent, but very good. I know it is. However I don\'t know if the "characteristic difficulty" of this game will make to abandon the game. Gamespot says that the learning curve is about 2,5 hours (actually, I don\'t believe it) and recommends some kind of specialised joystick with pedals etc... Of course I won\'t buy any extra controller... I have a logitech pad that may be enough if necessary. Anyway, the main control device will be the keypad.

This passion for planes, united to the fact that you can learn a lot with this title, not only historical data on flight and models, but also real controls in planes, encourage me to buy the title.

Anyway, I would like to hear from those who have this title. Is it worth the money? Is it playable?

thx

If I try it out and like, be sure I\'ll buy it, as many other games I have.

There are supposed to be very realistic. Apparently terrorists used previous versions to learn how to fly planes (sept 11th).

Well some sites and forums\' members say that if you are able to play well the game, the hardest models, and you control and know the panel control of most of the planes... they say that there is not any problem in going to the airport, hijack a plane and fly away.

Adan, I too am very interested in planes and its a lifelong dream to fly combat jets. I\'m gonna get it when I get a new computer. Then, you can go to websites such as http://www.simviation.com and download addons such as planes, scenery, effects (I got nukes in 2002), ect. Its very customizable.

No problem Adan. You\'ve got to see some of the cool crap I\'ve put on 2002. I have fighter planes, bombers (I put on a nuke effect and a bomb actually drops and burns the earth), new jets and stuff. Just browse Simviation. Its a great site. I go every couple of days to get new planes and panels and stuff. It really adds to the flight sim experience. Theres also addons for Combat Flight Simulator.

Wow Titan, never seen such a large database of addons, downloads, info, links, hints and forums for a game. What a web dude! Thanx a lot.

I\'m definitely getting the game. Tell ya later.

I want this game, but I do not feel like upgrading my pc to play it. Maybe I can talk my company into a new laptop that can handle it.

I would never play a game like this on a laptop.

You can always hook up a monitor and whatnot to your laptop and make it play like a desktop :)

I just bought and installed the game in my old GF2 and it\'s played rather good... cannot gigure out when my 9800pro arrives ^^

BTW, I take off with a boeing 747 on the first try jejej. However I couldn\'t do so with the helicopter. The game is wonderful mates, it\'s worth the money such a nice, realistic and complete game.
