Title: The Warp Pipe
Post by: Blade on December 26, 2003, 09:28:14 PM
It\'s kind of a long shot, I know.. but has anybody here connected their GameCube to the internet via The Warp Pipe (http://www.warppipe.com) to play Mario Kart, Kirby\'s Air Ride, or 1080 Avalanche with others?

I took the plunge and got a BBA to play MK:DD. So far, my experiences have been on the laggy side but definitely enjoyable. Would I suggest it to the average MK:DD lover with a broadband connection? In the long run, definitely. WP is at v.3 right now.. they have a lot of room to improve and a lot of folks report 60fps or near it over large distances already. Eventually I think the network code will be close to Xbox Live\'s, if not equal.

I don\'t have broadband or I\'d prolly "take the plunge."  For now, I\'m holding off until the next generation of consoles.

A zelda game online would be nice. I could see myself getting into that. I doubt it happens in my lifetime though.

Well they have a concept with Four Swords, but I don\'t know if that would really lend itself to online play. I suppose we should see how Final Fantasy brings in players online for some ideas.

How would it work?

I would enjoy having the Hyrule universe. I could care less what I do. Maybe alot of wanna be links. With a game lasting maybe a week. Whomever is the furthest gets to progress to the final boss with a few select friends. Of course that would mean some people would never get to see the ending.
