what are the main differences, I am looking to but a system and have no Idea the difference between the two, can you please help me. What is a better system? Better Games?
-
Depends on what exclusives you like.
The X box is the more powerful console(but it is still the newest) but is badly lagging well behind the market leader the PS2 (which has a vast collection of both PS2 & PSX games)
Personally i will always take the PS2 over the x box ... Not only for the exclusive titles.
like
Onimusha 2
Maximo
Jak 1 & 2
Ratchet & Clank
Gran Turismo 3
Silent Hill 3
Primal
Pro Evolution Soccer 1 to 3
Tekken
Final Fantasy 10
Dark Cloud 1 & 2
Ico
Manhunt
to name a few
But the future ones to ( Titles for 2004)
Killzone
Metal Gear Solid 3
Onimusha 3
Fobbidden Siren
Gran Turismo 4
Resident Evil Outbreak
Transformers Armada
Silent Hill 4
And then there is the Backward compatability and the dual shock 2 (best controller EVER)
And finally there is the fact the Sony out sells X box & NGC Combined, so larger userbase = more developer attention.

Plain and simple xbox sucks get a ps2 your already here you no which one is better.
-
to me, i go for ps2 since i own psx, because so i can play psx games on my ps2.
But to you, i don\'t really know.
-
If you want online. Go xbox.
Offline go ps2.
-
PC. Upgrade your computer and marvel at its glory.
-
Depends entirely on the games you want to play...
Can\'t go wrong with a PS2, if you are a gamer you will find something you like.
PS2 has the largest selection however the Xbox has a few games worth owning the system for. 2004 is going to be a great year for Xbox...Ninja Gaiden, Halo 2, and Fable have awesome potential.

PS2.
PC gaming SUCKS donkeys nuts. Forever upgrading your friggen machine just so that newer games don\'t chug, ugh.
-
Racer, you\'re an idiot. Don\'t ever try to argue against something I said. It\'s utterly pointless.
PC games have online goodness that no console will ever be able to match. You\'re reffering to console to PC ports...if you\'re upgrading your PC for console ports then something is wrong with you. A lot of great console game originate on computer too, though pc to console translation don\'t go as well as console to pc.
You don\'t have to upgrade either, the choice is simply there. I have a Geforce 2 that came built in to my PC, most computers have a Geforce 4 built in.

Shows what you know, nothing..
I prefer to upgrade once every year on my pc, and have games that look better, play better and general run better on my pc then any console version. Now i could go into how much more money i save on my pc for gaming then i do consoles.. but then i\'d be breakin the rules.... ;)
Then theres the lan partys i have, ohh something consoles have yet to master.
-
I\'ll tell you what.
You\'re all dumb.
Dumb, I say.
VIVA LA JAGUAR!

You could hook multiple Xbox\'s up to multiple TV\'s to play Halo!!! Oh!!!11pwnwinwin

I sold my Xbox
didn\'t really see the point in having it anymore.
The PS2 has more games that look sound, and play great
in the end it really comes down to variety and selection. the PS2 IMO is best bet.

If you want a system that you have to turn sideways to get through the front door because it\'s so damn huge, or a company that likes to buy out companies to make exclusive games for their system...then Xbox is for you! Like Halo, for example, was supposed to be on pretty much every system, until Micro-suck bought out Bungie.
On the serious side, Xbox is a good system, with a few games that absolutely must be played. The PS2 has an ass-load of games to choose from, with a lot of kick-ass titles, too. I personally love my PS2 over the Xbox, but there are times when I wish I had an Xbox for a few choice games. I\'m just too poor to own everything. They both have their pros and cons, so it\'s really up to you.
And he asked about Xbox and PS2, and you guys start arguing about the PC? Whatever...

And yet the NGC is not even mentioned in this whole discussion.
And please,don\'t get me started on MS as a company or Sony as a company, because I personally think it\'s fashionable to hate MS and that\'s the only reason most of you people do.

I hate Micosoft for many reasons, but I just said that because there were a few games that were "PS2 Exclusive" that went to Xbox. I want an Xbox, but I have bills to pay, man. I almost mentioned GC not being mentioned, but I refrained. Just chill. Every time I say something, you respond with something I was already thinking about. I play Xbox at my friend\'s house all the time and enjoy the crap out of it. I have nothing against Microsoft, other than Windows...and that\'s because I have a G5, which doesn\'t crash. Sony has a way of exaggerating things, I know, they both have their "evil within"...
On that note...I think you should recommend you look into a Gamecube as well, it\'s only $100, and has some great games as well.

If you really want others to give you advice on which console is worth owning, you\'re looking in the wrong place. However, the real question you should be asking yourself is what type of games you want. Do you want RPG\'s? Do you want online sports titles? Do you want shooters or fighters? Do you want the best all around selection? Each answer here is different. If you want a system with tons of games, lots of variety, and plenty of great titles, then you want a Gameboy Advance SP. If that\'s too little for you, meaning you need a home console and a controller in your hand, then you need to decide for yourself what kinds of games you really want.
Are you a Zelda fan? Do you like Halo or Deus Ex? Perhaps you have some interest in one of the upcoming shooters such as Half Life 2 or Doom 3? What about the latest Final Fantasy or perhaps even other RPG\'s? These questions can all be answered and from that I can suggest a console, but you need to explain yourself first. To blindly give a suggestion about which console is best among home consoles is probably idiotic.
I own you Jumpman. ;)
-
Buy all three, that\'s what I done. :)
Seriously though, Ryu is right. Look at the game\'s, what you want to play and figure it out from there. Don\'t worry about specs , because if the system doesn\'t have any games you want to play, then the superior audio / graphics isn\'t going to matter.

Halo, ohh theres a reason to go out and buy a Xbox, and get all my mates to buy one, then ask them to cart their tvs here, just so we can link 1 game... That we ALL probably would need to own.. Theres a great idea.....
-
For the price of a PS2 or XBox w/ no game, you could get a Dreamcast and a bunch of great games...
There\'s your answer...
;)
-
Yeah, Ryu is right...decide what games you want...buy accordingly...

I like it. :o

I would think anyone that knew about most of the games mentioned here wouldn\'t be asking about the differences between the two systems. Far from being idiotic, blindly pointing out PS2 covers every genre with multiple top grade titles is a pretty reasonable answer.
Hardware wise the xbox offers a few refinements in looks/sound that depend more on having a state of the art TV & sound system to notice an appreciable difference. Even then it would have more to do with which games were being scrutinized and the graphical aspects being evaluated.
