Let\'s discuss movies that make you think,or that change your behaviour in any way, in this thread.
A few of mine:
- Fight Club(It actually taught me to be less materialistic)
- Amelie
- Adaptation(I saw it again recently and it rocks).I even have a wallpaper depicting Meryl Streep in the woods(one of the scenes from Adaptation).OHHH YEAHHH!! :fro:
I\'ve been meaning to see Lost in Translation featuring Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray. It is supposed to be very good.Too bad it\'s not released in Holland yet.

Memento.
If that doesn\'t make you think, then I have no clue what will.
-
The lion king. It showed me you can\'t trust your family.
-
The most recent: T3 I know its lame and the movie has a terrible story line but in reality it might not be far from the truth.
-
Memento
Identity
-
Glitter... I sat and cryed as i just realised that my I.Q. was permanently reduced by 20 points.

Cool.... i am a semi out of work bum and my wife works at a vet\'s ...it must mean that we will be leaders in the human resistance. :D

bladerunner,
donnie darko
-
It would have to be Tommy Boy..
"Richard, who\'s your favorite little rascal? Alfalfa or is it Spanky."
-
Donnie Darko - good movie and soundtrack ;)
-
Rudy - never give up
-
Lost in Translation was a great, unusual movie. Did it make me think? Nope, not really.
The Matrix made me think.
-
I Spit On Your Grave.

Yeah same here, taught me never to take a bath with a lady whom I just forced myself on.
Eeegh, that scene still gives me the heeby jeebies.
-
^^
I suppose I\'m glad I have no clue what you are talking about.
-
Hmmm....
Cast Away; One of my favorite movies, it makes me think about if we were to never gain the privileage of technology and still lived like that.
Full Metal Jacket; Made me think about the purpose of the military, and what good it does- other than killing.
-
Jackie Chan\'s The Tuxedo...
I was thinking how much it sucked...
Easily one of his worst...
Action fans must check out Police Story, easily one of his best...
-
if you use drugs than check out Requiem For a Dream.
And a movie that is a real thinker, my second favorite movie of all time Memento. Kick ass movie.
-
Memento - people still don\'t know it ends in the middle!
Identity - neat little movie with a twist
The 13th Floor - Matrix stole the idea from here ;)
The Game - Craziest ending, either you love it or hate it
The Cell - Freakish!
Fight Club - kinda fanboy-ish, and ironic, but I love postmodern flicks
2001: A Space Odyssey
Contact
Vanilla Sky
About Schmidt
-
- Dumb and Dumber...that made me think too hard...
- Ace Ventura: Whan Nature Calls - the part where Jim Carrey is coming out of the rhino\'s ass...
-
I would have to say memento to because it made you think
b*st*rd out of caroline because how in the hell can a mom
pick her husband over her daughter which happens to been beating by her stepdad and crossroad why did ever watch it
-
Akira - by Otomo.
Thinks about what and who we are as humans. All life is energy, but with what potential ? Tetsuo grows energy potential so high
it\'s like an amoebe having human powers. So far on the earthly scientific thoughts, this movie scores.
Then there\'s the more spiritual ending where Kaneda worthily says goodbye to his friend Tetsuo without judging on what has happened and Tetsuo returns to his original state of pure life energy into the cosmos. I thought that was beautiful and touching though ; that in the end....we are not bound by our material incarnated earthly forms. I think this story is even a step above Metal Gear Solid\'s \'breaking loose from you\'re genes\' theory.
-
Jacob\'s Ladder, the ending is just, WOW!
-
starwars, i wonder if they will ever truly develope a light saber....
-
Dark City (1998) think it came out just before the Matrix (similar in story line)and dealty more with the idea of the "Human Condition" & the concept of the human soul.
It also stars Kiefer Sutherland if you haven\'t seen it before.
A truely underrated film.
-
Memento sucked.
Sorry, guy\'s.
-
NO IT DIDN\'T YOU FLAMING HOMO!

ooseven you rock. I would pick Dark City of the Matrix any day. I didnt think anyone else liked it but me. :(
-
I\'m not the least bit surprised that my bag of the stupidest members, ooseven and Spudz, like that horrible excuse for a film.
-
Im not the least suprised that you continue to act like a total loser, afterall its in your genes.
-
Ooooooooohhhh, coming from the guy who thinks dogs could be smarter than humans.

you should see: \'Who am I?\'
oh...and....the matrix made me think too....
please don\'t do things to me, I\'m only human! ;)
-
I did see Who Am I? and it was decent...
Can\'t compare to Police Story or several others...
-
i saw dark city ages ago, dont remeber to much about it, was cool when peep changed who they are etc, eg, rich man becomes poor etc.... think thats the film, knotter8 u ever read the akira books??? the film is such a little part of the books
-
If the \'Matrix\' made you think, then you don\'t have much a brain to begin with. The film was cookie-cutter SCI-FI crap.
Memento was nothing more than a gimmick, with little to no replay value.
I cannot say that many films make me think. There are a few, that I thought had valid points, such as \'Natrual Born Killers\' but did I sit and think at the end? No.
With all that said, there are films that no matter how many times I subject myself to them, I am left confused and guess what? They are both David Lynch films.
- Mullholand Dr.
- Lost Highway
-
Mullholand drive was a pile of steaming shit, it\'s only saving grace was that it was soft-core porn.
-
You shot down him down.

Actually, no he didn\'t. He shot the movie down, which is fine. It\'s just like when I said KoRn was a bunch of talentless idiots. So, no he did not.
It is in my opinion that Mullholand Dr was a good movie. It is in his that it is a terrible film. That does not offend me. Therefor, he did not shoot me down. Nor did he insult me. He insulted the film.
A smart person would understand the distinct difference.

Same with Revolutions.
Also, it should be noted that you\'ve been missed Weltall and your presence is welcomed.

Must say that the purpose and meaning of \'Seven Samurai\' and \'Sanjuro\' has kept me awake many a nights.

akira- makes one think about the evolution of human race..clearly on an theoriatical level.
one week- makes you think about what would you do if you actually caught hiv. it also made me not want to twist out every hot shorty i saw.
