I\'m beginning to notice that I\'m starting to turn into a bit of a fat bastard. I\'m currently the heaviest I\'ve ever been and really dont wanna be known as \'The Pie Man\' or anything similar! I know I need to start doing more exercise, but was wondering if any of you know anything about the atkins diet? Is it basically just cutting out carbohydrates? I\'ve also heard that you can lose weight quite quickly, true?

It\'s true. It works and I\'ve seen a friend lose 75 pounds of human lard in less than 2 years. You do go back to carbs, though. It\'s just in phases.

Personally I would just do more exercise. I do lots of swimming and walking etc and am fairly toned.
*stares smugly at self wearing jockstrap while looking in mirror*
Damn!! Did I just say that out aloud. :D

BAN HIM!
Man, I am so glad I have a super high metabolism. I eat 4 pancakes, toast, 2 glasses of orange juice, and a bowl of cereal for a "quick" breakfast.
I stay at 150 pounds no matter how much I eat. Its awesome.

Atkins sucks if you aren\'t already a fatty. Just get up and exercise and eat right, it\'s easier that way.

Atkins is simply a ketogenic diet, with that asshole Dr.Atkins face on it. Theory behind ketosis is that when deprive the body of carbs it lowers glycogen stores in the liver (your muscles fuel source) and forces your body to converty fat into energy. This kind of works but not the way it\'s advertised. Basically a keto diet will lower your appetite and you eat less. When it comes to fat loss there is always one thing that is a constant, The Law of Thermo Dynamics (calories in vs calories used).
In short, the only way to loose weight is to have less calories entering your body than you expend. As always, if more assistance is needed, I\'m available.

I used to be a chublet in high school but after college I stay at 135lbs no matter what I do. I started getting a tummy and missing muscle so I started working out again, sort of a new year\'s resolution.
All I do is bench press, sit ups, leg raises, jog 1-2 miles on the treadmill and I\'ll be in shape again in a couple of weeks. Being a guy is cool.

I\'ve never been fat but I was kinda on the chubby side my sophomore year and beginning of junior year. Deciding to swim was like the best decision in my life because I lost 20 pounds, and my body actually looked cut.
What really helped was I had a cold and my appetite was almost gone completely, some days I\'d have only a pop tart to energize me... the entire day. And then I go to practice and burn that pop tart in a few seconds and really make my calories in vs. calories out ratio really lopsided.
A year later I\'ve managed to keep any weight off, however I\'m not in similar shape as I was at the conclusion of the season and am currently returning to the pool and hitting the weight room.
For swimming I do a lot of curls with dumbells (I HAVE REALLY LOUSY BICEPS), pushups for upper body strength, bench for chest, a few leg stuff, and I have no idea for shoulders.

I think its okay to be a little fat or skinny, just as long you are mentally and physically healthy. That is the key major point.
I am very skinny if you ask me and tall too and not as healthy as i should be. But i think i am getting a little progress.
