Seems so early. But hey, if they can keep them fresh and up to par then i dont see any reason why the shouldnt.

Wasn\'t it rumoured to use the MGS3 Snake Eater engine (of course altered for SH4\'s needs) ?
Anyway, it looks a bit like straying away from the Francis Bacon
style to more a bit of Clive Barker.....

I could never get deep into silent hill. I couldn\'t take the camera and controls.

Same here. I mush prefer Resident Evils fixed camera angles and controls.
If they can make it like Manhunt and implement some stealth, then I think it would rock.

People like you shouldn\'t be allowed to play masterpieces like SH. Or at least you shouldn\'t play them if you don\'t see the beauty that lies in the locations, storylines and characters. Too much thinking involved, eh? :p

But, actually, there is stealth there already. Switch off the light and just walk by the monsters? Being able to do stealth kills would be stupid. In Silent Hill, people get caught in their worst nightmares. Just being able to pounce on one from the shadows like a rabid canine would somewhat spoil that idea, it sould be the other way around. You can beg to differ all you like, but I won\'t let you. Grrr.
Ahh, I can\'t wait to get back to my favourite place... I wonder if it\'ll continue on the original concept somehow, or be more like a spin-off, like SH2? Oooo... the history of Silent Hill would be something awesome to explore, the time when things were only starting to go a bit cooky. Anything will do it for me, really.

I dunno, it was just an idea to bring new life into it. The story kinda hasn\'t really evolved for me, maybe im just stupid.
Hey, i play racers remember, but Manhunt has really got me into games again. before i bought it i hadn\'t turned my PS2 on for months.

Maybe you\'re stupid, yees. Or maybe you\'re smart enough to not care this much ;) I openly admit that I\'ve gotten a bit too far into this Silent Hill nonsense. To me, it\'s just some of the most beautiful fiction ever devised.
To each his own, still.

the stealth thing is indeed rediculous. It wouldnt be really as scary if you knew where the monsters where before you walked into a room. The only element of stealth that could work is if you were spotted and needed to find a place to hide (which would have to be made difficult). This is in case you run out of ammo and are 2 seconds from dying. That\'ll work.

sweet, i like the sh games, 1st was the best, sh2 didnt really cut it with me, 3 was sweet though

there can absolutely be no stealth. silent hill is light years better than res. evil. the only res that was great was 1 & 2. whats with all the rocket lauchers & having 5 min to kill the boss at the end of EVERY game? personally i don\'t prefer all those weapons..totally kills the survival factor. res. evil has no atomosphere whatsoever. All the characters in res evil are not afraid of zombies anymore they act like they are in a rambo flick.

I hope this game goes more the way of Silent Hill 2 (best PS2 game EVER) and away from the cult-based storylines of Sh1 and SH3. While 1 and 3 were scarier and had more action, Silent Hill 2\'s storyline is probably one of the deepest, touching and most cerebral in a videogame. It was oozing with atmosphere and had the best supporting cast of the series by far. It also kept a lot of the nastiness of the first game while generating its own flavor and style (James\' adventures into Silent Hill\'s Reverse Side are much different than Harry\'s and Heather\'s).
So far this looks intriguing and I\'ll definitely get it.
Ah yeah, one other thing: Resident Evil, even before it began its decline into the totally unbelievable Matrix ripoff of a joke it is today, even when the series had some credibility and coherence, it wasn\'t even half as scary, engrossing or deep as Silent Hill. Even at its best, Resident Evil was a shameless ripoff of George Romero\'s films... a shallow physical scarefest that relied totally on shock and surprise, completely eschewing any attempt at psychological fright. Even RE\'s gameplay isn\'t as advanced or refined.
But I digress. Silent Hill owns Resident Evil.

^ yeah i agree with that :thepimp: Anyway, my first silent hill game was SH2. I just finished SH3. I must say that maybe I should have taken the effort to find a copy of SH1, cuz SH3\'s story is tied very much to SH1. SH3 starts of imo like SH2, but after halfway through the direction of plot goes cult-ish.
I\'ve seen a pic of the new SH4 character somewhere. Some young guy. At least he doesn\'t look like a Raiden. LOL :laughing:

I hope they dont f*ck it up like the Resi series.The Silent Hill series is the greatest syrvival horror gaming experience you can get imo.
Pure work of art so far.They have had so many great and original ideas in previous Silent Hills I wonder if they could find any better, original or more great ideas that build th etention and atmosfere for Silent Hill 4

while im pretty sure thats not in game, that is the most realistic hair i have ever seen in a game CG or in game.

Yes I have. I was referring to the fact that specific screen looks more ps1 than ps2. Some of the later screens in this thread look nice.

i never played silent hill3, but the second one was really freaky...man this one looks so freakin gory compared to the other ones
