pretty darned wierd, he\'s diabetic and he had a big episode in the middle of the night the cramps were so bad he popped his shoulder out of it\'s socket and broke a bone while he was at it.
He\'s doing good right now, docs want to keep him to make sure his brain is ok.
Damn that was a close call though, and the worst part is I couldn\'t sleep in on a Sunday because of him.

Oh my, that sounds bad. :(
Glad he\'s ok now though. :)

There are 3 types of diabetes, type 1 (aka Child onset), type 2 (adult) and gestational. Type 1 is when you are born with a inability to produce insulin, which is what I assume no-one\'s brother is. You\'re probably thinking of type II, where a persons system is no longer sensitive to insulin, and they are usually adult and obese.

Thats bad shit...
A friend of miens mum has diabeties and she had an attack while she was driving me and a friend was ****ing scary!

Hope he\'s okay. Though not the same disease, I almost lost my fiance from a severe athsma attack on January 5th, 2002. Two years ago. I never left her side. I watched her nearly die in front of me as the doctors struggled to get her breathing again.
Sleep deprivation for me meant nothing. As long as I was there when she first opened here eyes..... *sniff*
Hope your brother does okay. He needs to keep tab on his levels. What brought this on, BTW? Worked out too much and brought his insulin to dangerous levels or something? Ate something he shouldn\'t have? Sorry, just curious. You don\'t have to answer if yer not up to it. However, we could learn from this as there are a lot of diabetics in the world.

He\'s doing OK now, to answer some of the questions and commenst here.
He wasn\'t born diabetic, was diagnosed about 3 years ago.
No idea what brought this on, this according to the docs is very unusual, he didn\'t just get low he got cramps and spasms and whatever it\'s called, so bad that he dislocated his shoulder, literally tore it out of it\'s socket, managed to crack a bone while he was at it.
Happened in the middle of the night, just sleeping then all the sudden bam he starts shaking and whatnot, his wife understandably freaked.
He can\'t drive or anything now, he has to take some catscans and whatnot to make sure he\'s ok, he\'s mostly pissed because he\'s at home all the time which is good but his left arm is all bandiged together so he can\'t play his playstation, his only friend right now is the dvd player.

That\'s sad. I know this girl who is still in high school that have diabete and bipolar. Both of which are very bad and she\'s pretty young. Bipola is similiar to schizophrenia.
She have to take insulin or shot to her stomach, she used to take insulin on her stomach but now on her arms which is good. What suck is she is mentally and physically challenged to do any school works but she is trying.
I think people should gives other people who are physically and especially mentally weak/ill respects. Because they can\'t or have a very, very difficult time doing things a healthy noraml person does. And they try to struggle to live with breathing problem and mental problem. Some healthy people doesn\'t understand it, but i was surprise how young adults and teens like us are so supportive of other people health problem than the adults i met (the school teacher, Ugghh...i hate that ignorance teacher who knows nothing about it and was mean to students who are physically/mentally ill).
Hopefully, your brother is well again so he can enjoy life like a normal person does.
