A top official sacked from the US Government has accused President Bush of planning for an invasion of Iraq within days of coming to office.

Just because he says so it\'s the truth?

Regardless if he was fired, why wouldn\'t he tell the truth?!!?[/sarc]

Why would anybody lie?
I should say twist the truth.

Perhaps he was fired because he disagreed with Bush?

Why do you all doubt Paul O\'Neill\'s statement? It doesn\'t seem that contentious to me. I\'m pretty sure I recall the Bush administration making veiled statments about Saddam Hussein even before 9/11. It doesn\'t seem far fetched that they were looking for a way to get him for quite some time.
Instead of calling O\'Neill a liar, you should be saying "so what." After all, Hussein was a known dictator, oppressing his people, developing WMD, blah blah blah...
Of course it doesn\'t explain where our plans are for getting rid of the other dictators on this planet... :)

i say so what because it\'s been known that bush wanted to take down saddam for a while & not because he was a dictator etc etc. It\'s gonna take a while but when the dust settles & the fighting is over, the u.s. will have major stronghold in the middle-east even if indirectly..they say the iraqs will hold elections & such but you better believe u.s. will still have great influence on who they put in their gov\'t. (which i guess in a way is good but you see my point.)

Doesn\'t he have classified files or something?

Maybe because he was in the Treasury Department... not exactly included on high intel briefings. ;)
