DO you have it yet?  Take a real picture?

Now that\'s a true hunter.  I assume you are going to go out and bag yourself some elk with it.

Guns are for pussies.

Weapons in civilian hands should be prohibited by law imo, be it guns, blades or whatever weaponry. Weapons = only for police and other law enforcements. Just my (European) opinion.

Hey I want a Katana!!
Title: xmas present to myself....
Post by: CHIZZY on January 16, 2004, 04:58:13 AM
Yes, it is sharp.Razor sharp. Peeps on the sword forums do mat-cuttings with them like japanese martial artists. They even refer to these as "swords for the western / European martial arts"....

There are plenty of links for katanas at http://www.swordforum.com

I don\'t have it yet, It is still being made. A swordsmith named Angus Trim makes the blades, then distributors like allsaints assemble and customize them to your liking. Check out http://www.christianfletcher.com this guy makes some cool shit.

What makes a cop any more suited to have a weapon then a civilian? Really they could both kill with it, guns don\'t kill people, people kill people, a gun is just a way to kill someone, some people do it with there bare hands.

Really, people have every right to own a weapon. To some people (including myself) owning a weapon is the same as owning a car. Its something to collect and learn how to use. Personally, I want to learn how to use a medieval, Roman swords and katana. I also want to learn how to shoot old bows and arrows. I am facinated with ancient and medieval warfare and would love to experience it.

^  i have more then i can count.. about 20 to 30 weapons..  Cops know i have them, so does my MA school.. so all is kewl. Its only the knobs that go out and use them that get into shit.
I\'ve mastered Nunchaku and 3 sectional. doing kali (escrima), bo, katana and short swords now.. so it\'ll keep me busy for a few years. :) After that, broadswords, straightsword and sai will be my next weapons..

Chizzy, if that was HAND crafted you\'d be paying up to 5 grand. It\'s machined.. don\'t get confused between the 2.

Is there some sort of school that you go to souly or is it all self taught?
Title: xmas present to myself....
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on January 16, 2004, 05:42:03 PM
Nunchaku and 3sectional was self taught, then i went in front of my instructors (whom have mastered it too) did a 5 minute demo and now am allowed to teach it. But i don\'t... the others i go to a Okinawa MA school, just to do their weapon lessons. It\'s a sub of their normal classes which I don\'t attend. Once I’ve finished as much as they can teach me. I’ll do weapon subs at a different school for broadsword, which will be a Wingchun sub. Sai i can do at the okinawa karate classes.

Heres some of my weapons. Although these are old pics, my nunchaku collection has grown and i have 3 sectional weapons too.

In that case, I gotta find a weapon school somewhere in my state. I need a new hobby :) Plus, I want to do something that I\'ve always had an interest in.
Title: xmas present to myself....
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on January 16, 2004, 05:53:15 PM
Its great fun, unless u want to do a martial arts too. Just try to find a place that does it as a sub to their main classes. Most will want you to earn a blackbelt (or highest grading) in their normal classes before even touching weapons. We don\'t do that at my school (freestyle MA academy) yes it is a friggin style :)  We prefer people to start learning the weapons as soon as they start our normal classes.

Anyway, you\'ll love it. :)

Too bad I don\'t live in Italy. I saw on the History Channel that there is a group that dress up like Roman Gladiators and do real Gladiator fights (just they don\'t kill eachother, but 1/10 gladiator fights ended in a death). That looks like great fun. I really want to learn medieval sword fighting first before I learn the Asian methods of fighting.

They look like a half circle blade that has a handle in the middle. It kinda looks like a D. There might be another name for it, anyways I want one of those.

What if the civilians had to defend themselves against a government or invading force? Your pretty much assed out. Police are nothing but civilians with badges.

Just your European opinion, eh? Yes, I remember another European that had the same opinion.

He was a little-known former German prime minister.. I\'m not sure if you guys ever heard of him. ADOLF HITLER, ring a bell anyone? I just heard of him yesterday, myself! :)

Civilians should have the right to bear arms.

Sorry if I came off brash, but in America the concept of taking away our weapons is just plain silly.

I know it\'s machined. Gus Trim does them on a CNC. And I know I could pay "up to 5 grand"... http://www.barrettcustomknives.com/

By hand crafted I mean they\'re not pumped out by a factory in the philippines, like my last sword. That thing has a full tang, but is smaller than this one and weighs twice as much. Gus makes the blades, Josh assembles them and wraps the grips. I\'m getting mine in oxblood leather.

And this 5 grand thing, even custom damascus steel jobs aren\'t THAT much... (though custom katanas can be, I hear. But they require many, many more man-hours to make.)

That\'s like saying someone that collects stamps is stupid.

Although I don\'t find stamps all that interesting, some people like collecting them.  So its the same thing as collecting swords or guns for that matter.

If someone collected arrowheads, would you ask  the same question and roll your eyes at them?

They arent a weapon, its basically the Alaskan natives form of a knife.

I have several, only as collectors items. They are sharp as ****. I can drop paper on it, and it will cut it.

And we did. Only reason we dont have them anymore, is because somethings that he constitution states are just wrong, while others (Guns) are right, and our given right.

I collect weapons because i train with them.  Would be pretty hard to train with nothing.

Some people collect them for decoration, just like a picture... Doesn’t do anything but look good.

It also said that slavery is abolished. It never said that slavery was allowed per se. It was assumed that that was a right. There wasn\'t an amendment in the constitution that said "you can own slaves". The amendment that says you can own slaves was probably refered to as the 9th Amendment which states "Rights not stated and not forbidden can be considered rights." There was SOME truth to yours but the 13th Amendment states that slavery is abolished, which made it illegal :)

American\'s find a need to collect weapons. Not always for violence, but just for show. I know, as a male, American I love looking and holding swords / knives and what not.

As for PS2\'s question on what is the point of collecting weapons. It\'s the same as anything else. Collecting something someone enjoys.

I thot thats what he meant but are u really gonna go and rip a sword off ur wall if someone comes into ur house and if someone comes into your house they\'re more likely to steal than try and kill u - if you have weapeon in your house for that reason, unless you live somewhere where murders regulary occur, then u r really pretty paranoid

There\'s a fine line between being paranoid and being cautious.  There may come a time where you\'ll need to know how to clean and work a firearm and that\'s just one of many skills that\'s worth taking the time to learn whether you collect firearms or not.  Me personally -- I collect souls.  It would explain the recent change in (e)\'s attitude and name change.  ;)

Obviously good ol\' Scotland has a low incidence of home invasions. My last recording studio was in the attic of a giutar shop. 15 mins after we left for the night, 3 guys with shotguns kicked in the door of the 2nd floor apt. The guy who lived there had his suv stolen, as well as about $6000 cash. This shit happens all the time here.

I\'m obviously not getting a sword for personal protection, that\'s what my guns are for. ;)

Very nice.. I like old swords and stuff.. Beard axes are cool, so are old sabres and rapiers. :)

My dream would be to own a old musket though.. Like this one

http://www.armemuseum.org/foremal/eldhandvapen/muskot/1704.html

But I’m not sure if you need a license or not for such an old weapon. In this country you even need a license for a deactivated gun, so I would not be surprised if you must have one to own a 300 year old musket.

souly, i dont know what it is called, but you know when you change hands with nu chucks, ala bruce lee, as in put it over your shoulder, grab with other hand, then do it over other shoulder, see how many of them you can do in a min....

my boss was british champion, he could do 150 a min
Title: xmas present to myself....
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on January 19, 2004, 05:58:43 PM
^ that totally depends on the type of chucks you use, rattan wood I could match that or pretty close, oak hardwood would be a different story, acrylic even less.  It\'s an over shoulder pass. I personally do it a more dangerous way, under shoulder type passing, a lot more dangerous as it can hit the back of your head, and it just looks cool. :)

Example of Oakchuck speed DOWNLOAD ME (http://www.geocities.com/bubroces2003/Oakwood.zip)   I did this vid in october 2002.
