Title: Problems with console(???)

Got a problem hopefully someone can help me with.  When I try to play any game, my console takes over control of the character.  It\'s like the game has taken over all character functions; i might as well be a bystander.  Does not respond to my controller commands.  All games, not just one.  Any recommendations?  Thanks!

Tried the new controller.  Seems to be internal with the system itself.

Does the game play the character successfully or is it like randomly running around?

call sony up and tell them what is wrong over the phone... they are pretty helpful, but do NOT tell them that you use unliscensed products (stuff that does not say "sony playstation") for your ps2. then if they cant help you over the phone you can send your ps2 to them through ups and they fix it for free. ive had to do it twice cause it wont read my discs

Deadly hamster:  The characters just run around randomly, or, in the case of Parasite Eve 2, for example, she just stands there in firing mode (freezes everything else out).  Also, with Medal of Honor Rising Sun, the guy just runs around shooting randomly and tossing grenades.  Seems like all buttons/functions are being pushed randomly.

Whoa, markasstrick. If sammy saw that name, he\'d have a field day :)

I say call sony mark. They\'ll help you out. I have problems with my console not reading disks (although I\'m gonna crack it open and change the voltage as soon as I find plastic screw drivers). They are pretty helpful and they\'ll help get your console up and running.

I see you have already tried another controller - so that kills the idea that your analog stick is the problem (which is actually quite common).

How old is your PS2? If it is over a year, chances are your warranty is expired.

sounds like your ps2 is possesed.  I\'d track down your local holy man and see what he can do.


Seriously though.. i\'ve never heard of that problem, if it\'s not a faulty controller than I have no idea what it could be.

Sound more like the controller port itself is faulty. Time to call sony to repair it I guess.
