I\'m leaning towards the samsung atm.. anyone know other monitors that are around 100USD (CRT ONLY) that are good quality?
-
It\'s hard to find a freaking CRT anymore it seems in the states. You walk into a store and all they have are LCDs everywhere.
-
Not here, plenty of stores still sell them. Aswell as lcd. I prefer CRT monitors simply because well, they kick ass for gaming. I may even go up to 19inch. Depending on my cash when i buy one. :)
-
My advice, get a CRT that has a 16:9 screen. They\'re hard to find though.
-
My NEC FP955+ blew up yesterday. It\'s strange, usually the electronics in a monitor that good last forever, but whatever.
Even though I do a lot of gaming, I\'m looking at a 19" LCD. I suppose I could buy a 21" CRT, but damn! They\'re so heavy at that size. The newer LCDs have better response time, and less ghosting than the old ones.
Between those two monitors, I would go with the samsung - I\'ve had no problems with my two samsung CRTs (one\'s almost 8 years old), and they tend to have good quality pictures. The fact that it supports a higher max resolution and refreshrate will also help keep it living longer, since you don\'t want to push CRTs to their limits.
-
Electronics don\'t last forever.. Components break down after time, monitors more then anything really.
As for 16:9 screen monitors. I guarantee they\'d be far more expensive then these monitors and I’m not willing to pay a huge amount for something I’ll have for a few years before changing, even more so when the rez and refresh rates are getting higher standards.
I\'ve emailed daewoo and am waiting for a reply on teh components i need to repair the monitor. I\'ll probably get the samsung one.. Mainly because it supports better refresh rates then the hyundai monitor. and has more onscreen features.

I am using NEC CRT 19" flatscreen monitor (model :mulitsync 97F)
It said flat, but it doesn\'t look perfectly flat. Its kinda curve.
My other computer monitor\'s in my brother\'s room which is Sony 17" CRT flatscreen E200.
What I found interesting in NEC monitor is that the resolution seem to have some color banding, esp. on 1280 x 1024, and a slight color banding on 1152 x 864 resolution. Return and exchange for the same one, same color banding happens again. But other than that, I found the D6500k is so accurate. The color temperature is pretty close to the D6500k. I like the shadow detail, it looks damn gorgeous and the blue, green, and red is about right, not oversaturated like the sony monitor.
But, i calibrate my Sony 21" analog tv and 34" hdtv and they look great after calibration. Part of it thanks to videoholic who open door to it. But don\'t worry about it.
-
^i kinda trailed off like that. Making no senses, what i am trying to say it, Videoholic shown me a site that talks about tv calibration. But computer monitor is different and don\'t worry about calibration on computer monitor.
-
Monitors like TVs, come in different quality and brands, depending on what you wanna pay, and the brand which seems best. You\'ll always get different results on certain brands from others. I\'ll see these 2 monitors running before making any decision. But from the spec sheets, i\'ll pick the samsung.
-
Calibrating any analog CRT is beneficial. Adobe Photoshop comes with some color/gamma corrector. The good thing about VGA+ monitors is that you don\'t have to worry about SVM, the red push, over/underscan correction...
A 16:9 monitor would be hella cool, talk about total immersion in games.

or u could use Ecolor/3deep. Both for Calibrating a monitor.
