hi all
recently my playstation 2 stopped reading DVD games. as soon as i pop in a Cd rom PS2 games the thing starts right up but when i put in a dvd game disk, i get that screen that says please enter PS 2 format disk. Is there anywhere where i can buy a replacement drive?
thanx

Send it to Sony as long as you didn\'t void your warranty.

I had the same problem as well.....only for some tries. It was strange.I had a PS2 game inside and it asked me to insert a PS2 disk format. It did it again a few times of trying the disk again. But then it playied normally

Try a lens cleaner first, before you resort to buying a new laser.

Lol. It started with dodgy green pictures, controllers breaking, and now the DVD drives are on the blink.
Why didn\'t SONY finish they\'re console before releasing it?

Mass production and efforts to keep cost of production low?

It\'s reasonable to assume when millions of people have a product they used for hours each day that many have parts that wear out or break.
Don\'t act like Microsoft hasn\'t had their fair share of faulty or broken units.

Well it\'s clearly a widespread problem (as with the whole green picture thing).

It\'s even got it\'s own sticky thread.

It\'s just dust on the lens. I cleaned mine and it worked perfectly afterwards.
Sweet article Kim!

the green picture thing happens only with DVD movies that are viewed on a PS2 that is connected with VCR.
And its not a problem. Its a protection so you wont copy DVD movies on video cassetes.
