Title: A truly humbling moment...
Post by: (e) on January 24, 2004, 09:53:08 PM
All past times of me aside, please read this unbiasedly.

As the tempmature dropped to about 20, me and my older brother put a layer of fresh water on the ice. Our backyard consists of a large pond, full of fish, ducks, and boaters in the summer, and skaters in the winter.

We waited serveral hours before it froze completely and decided to go for it. I walk outside, skeptic at my ice skating skills- its been so long, and grab my hockey stick.

We set up lights, and check the pond for any serious deformations to mark with cones. We are all pretty drone, considering the cold weather and darkness that still filled the air.

As we do this, the northern lights begin glowing in all their beauty. The mountain not a mile away is lighted up an vast spectrum of colors as the stars accent the sky. I stare at it, and just gaze into its beauty.

It honestly is the greatest moment in my life. I was almost in tears.

I just thought I would share this to you.

Please, if you have nothing serious to add to this thread, please dont.

More reason to believe in God...

I\'m not trying to push this thread into that direction, but its those moments when I know he exists more than ever.

I too have those moments here in Vegas sometimes... This place has some really great sunsets, and I love driving home at night and looking at the glittering strip in the distance. Really an awesome place.

Key words: in the distance

Hehe... the sunsets are still nice. Also I think when I leave here I\'ll never forget driving to school towards Sunrise Mountain and the sun creeping over the mountain.

Your life is truly sad if that is the greatest moment of your life. That or you are gay.

Guys, lay off spudz. I have to agree with him about the northern lights. I want to see them and he is fortunate enough to be able to. I live in an area where all you can see in the sky is the moon and the big dipper (thanks to the light pollution). When I go into the Adirondacks every year, I marvel at the sight of the stars and they take my breath away. I long to see the northern lights and I too would have the same reaction as spudz. Sometimes the simplist of moments can be life\'s greatest experiences.

Exactly ! Friggin\' society has shoved dogma\'s through ppl\'s throats on what is great in life and what is not. Most of the
times that so called \'great stuff\' involves money, career, status
and power. Great things, imho, come in rare and small doses
(no drugs, lol). Such small moments like Spudz\'s. Fractions of
a second where a combination of stuff on all your senses (sight,
hearing, scent, temperature etc..) comes together in a perfect way which gives a signal to your brain within that miniscule moment which makes you feel : GREAT. It\'s a small moment
half outside the \'reality\' (imho ; Fvck dat !) which society has declared \'Holy\' .

Don\'t understand ? Well, all I can say is ; sorry, you\'re missin\'
out then :thepimp:

THey come pretty frequently in the winter, alot of times Fullforce. Its a pity though, when the tourists come in the summer they miss out on them. They are mostly green up here, but none the less colors do change.

BTW: Capcom, just because you want to be an ass, doesnt mean you have to be one in here. I asked for people just to be nice and try not to ruin this thread- its not that hard of a request.

When I finally see the Northern Lights, I\'ll try to keep my thread as manly as possible....like :

....while I wrestled a Polar Bear with a spork, I noticed there was a beautiful curtain of light in the heavens....marred only by me tossing the decapitated bear head into the air. After that, I picked up my spear, with three babies seals still skewered to it, and walked off into the wind swept glaciers, staring up into the star filled night, my shadow ebbing and flowing, created by the flowing great Northern Lights.

Damn....I\'m so manly I want to touch myself! :D
