Title: Memory Card - Corrupt File...PLease Help!
Post by: dmkc on January 25, 2004, 05:35:05 AM
My 9 year old daughter has been playing Sponge bob for the last 2 months and has made a lot of progress but yesterday when she started to play the load failed and the file was listed as currupt...Has any one ever heard of this before? If there a way to get her saved data back? Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

My GameCube has several times told me that my Metroid Prime save files was corrupt.

I restarted my GC without the game, went into the memory card manager and tried to delete the file. It did not work, so I started the game again and the file was okay again. Hmm

I dont know if it works on PS2.. Try starting the PS2 without the game, go into the memory card manager, click on the save (do not delete though), go back, start the game and see if it works.

Its a loooong shot, but you never know.

Btw, is it a 3rd party memory card or a official Sony one?

Remember to ALWAYS buy 1st party stuff (SONY), especially when it comes to Memorycards.

There was a bug in GTAIII that sometimes corrupted save games. Unfortunately there is no way of retrieving them once this happens. Just delete it and start over, remembering in future to save the game in 2 save slots instead of just one. At least then you will have a back up save file.

yeah, i heard a lot of problems with 3rd party memory cards.  Try 1st party memory card from Sony if you are using 3rd party, they are more reliable. try copying it to another memory card and see if that help.

Kurt Angle make a very good point.  The PS2 have like 8 MB, that\'s plenty enough, and saving it twice on different slot on the memory card could help you in case one get corrupted.

But being a lazy ass as i am, i don\'t save it twice because i haven\'t encounter nay corrputed files, at least that i know of.  But it\'s better if you do.

Using Gameshark/Action Replay you have options to compress files further to gain more space, for the love of a non-existent God please do not EVER use these, they bugger saves randomly.

Not entirely related to the thread but the mention of GTAIII brought back a really sickening feeling in my stomach after I messed my whole save up!
