Could anybody tell me how the hell can I connect another HDD in my PC through IDE? I have:
IDE1: Primary: DVDRom; Slave: HDD1
IDE2: Primary: CDRW; Slave: HDD2
How can I insert another HDD? Could I connect more than one slave to a primary connection? I wanna do something like this, but with only 3 hdds instead of the bestiality of this guy-.

your not going to
either go SCSI or firewire to add a 5th drive

am, ok. Thanx.

i seen a PCI card that give you two more IDE connections.
I connect my hard disk drive in primary instead of secondary. but i guess either connection will be fine. btw, i am using only 1 hdd.

Yea, just grab a PCI controller card. They come in ATA/133 flavors now. Hook up as many HDs as you want.
Also, it\'s best to have your HDs on one IDE channel, and your 2 disc drives on the other.

yeah, that\'s what i do to my hdd and disc drives. only 1 hdd on one IDE, the second IDE with two disc drives.

You could also invest in a DVD-writing drive to replace your two current optical drives.. but..
Well, even if you wanted to take that evolutionary step.. I\'d consider waiting for the dual-layer writers.

Blade,
I still think you can just update your firmware by downloading it off the net to do dual layers. That\'s if the manufacturer does update it. But my guess they will and should. Anyway, i am returning two of dvd burners that doesn\'t seem to be compatible when burning dvd to watch video through dvd players and i try three brands. TDK, I/O Magic, and Emprex. All i can say is i am somewhat disappoint with the three burner\'s laser and it doesn\'t play on my dvd player. Not sure what the reason why but i am going to return it. I guess, it seem like big name brands are worth buying when it comes to dvd burning like Sony, Pioneer, and i heard a lot of good talks about Lite-On.
Why use DVD writing to replace two optical drive? I can have a DVD-ROM and the second one DVD burner so i can do disc to disc copy easier. Also, I find burner like just CD burner instead of DVD and CD combo player or burner better.
Because it use 1 laser to do cd burning. with CD/DVD combo, who knows how many laser is in it. That\'s really isn\'t important if two lasers in 1 is good at reading, and burning. But i am pretty disappoint with I/O Magic, and TDK, and Emprex laser so far.
But what the heck am i mumbling about?....
