Not Romero.....but it\'s his baby reborn.

I enjoyed the original Dawn of the Dead, this may be some good mindless entertrainment. Didn\'t even know they did a remake.

mm hates mindless entertainment! I\'ll be ready for him when he pipes up. :p
-
Oh yeah I am sure he will hate it, but I don\'t care. Dawn was the best of the Dead movies IMHO. I think it looks interesting.
-
it\'s zack snyder\'s 1st film, after several other director\'s were offered it (not romero)
no comment yet.....
-
Looks pretty interesting. Ill keep an eye on it.
-
i\'ll keep one eye on it and other on the nearest shopping mall where i can hold up for a good while... taking out Zombies when i go on supply runs.
/me starts to load to pump actio shotgun.
-
I did not click on it because I\'m at work. Is this the teaser trailer, or the recent full trailer?
I like the (second) full trailer when I saw it at a theater. The introduction is quite good; where the mom returns to her safe comfortable suburban home, and then wakes up to find that all hell has broken loose. I like that shot where she looks outside and sees a couple people running across the street, and a house burning a couple blocks away.
I hope they can keep up the proper atmosphere for the complete film, however I\'m disappointed that LL Cool J is in it. I don\'t want to see any unnecessary fake-gangsta vs. Zombie BS.
-
I thought Ving Rames was in it not LL... but yeah Core, that is the trailer - the one you just described.
-
Hah, you\'re right, sorry. Ving Rhames. He\'s a little better than LL. :)
-
He\'s A LOT better than LL Cool Whip.
This movie looks freaky... I saw the preview in a theater and got goosebumps... A lot like 28 Days Later.
-
Trivia...
Which film in the series is this quote from.
"the Whole place is like one gaint Goddamn tombstone"
-
I\'m a huge fan of the original trilogy. I\'ll be seeing this. Dunno if I\'ll like but I\'ll definatly see it.
-
ooseven it is Day
Bloodydisguisting got to watch the new Dawn a month or so ago. They loved it, but had doubts it would make it past the mpaa uncut because of the extreme violence.
In other news anchor Bay is about to release a new transfer of the original dawn with 4 disk se later this year.
-
Never seen any of them.
Can someone recommend the best in the series?

The first one, no matter what these others say.
I can\'t believe you\'ve never seen it.
-
And by the first one he means Night of the Living Dead.
-
actually the ramake of "night of the living dead" is the best out of all of them
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wdog.com%2Frider%2Fwritings%2Fimages%2Fnight_of_the_living_dead.gif&hash=87c5a2613db9f5fe73e69b0d4b2dd8c46eccb22b)
was produced by romero and directed by tom savini (both pittsburgh natives)
tony todd as ben is reason enough
plus the chick in the new one wasnt such a whiner as the original
"day of the dead" would be the continuation of the story, followed by "dawn of the dead"
some information about the original dawn of the dead location, monroeville mall, which i can see from my back yard
http://www.deadohio.com/MonroevilleMall.htm
-
Didn\'t even know about that!
I\'ll be renting it tomorrow.
-
I\'m sorry, but the remake of "Night" did not do it for me at all. That story is just scarier in B&W. I love the night photography in that film. B&W night photography is infinitely scarier than color.
-
you got a point there, BUT....the acting/zombie makeup/character depth/sequencing/filming was so much better in the 2nd.
plus it had tony todd, i mean..come on
now, im not one for remakes, but it was still a romero/savini project

Thanks mm, Ill definetly check that out this weekend.
Plus this Romero guy you talk about quite alot, Any other movies of his I should check out?
-
well, his grand claim to fame will always be the "xxx of the dead" series
but he also did monkey shines, and creepshow
he might not have made many films, but he learned from the great such as Lucio Fulci, or Dario Argento
-
You\'re a movie nerd.
-
So?
Movies are an amazing tool for entertainment.

The remake was nowhere near as good as the original. You blashpemer!
As for Romero - it\'s George Romero, check out \'Martin\', \'Monkey Shines\', \'Creepshow\' , \'The Dark Half \' and a couple others, most notable is the Dead trilogy and \'Martin\'.
-
mm......you think the remake of Night of the Living Dead is better than the original?
Crikey. I knew you were just a pretender! :p

Reading is where it\'s at, foo. O. G. Readmore says u just got served.
-
the original and the remake are identical films
the remake had better production value, better actors, better scripting, etc
its not like paul anderson did the remake
it was produced by romero and directed by savini sitting next to him

I refuse to argue with you on this.
I\'M RIGHT YOU\'RE WRONG
NANANA-BOOBOO!!!
;)
Seriously though, it\'s personal preference. I thought part of the "soul" was lost in the remake and I also found Savini\'s effects wasn\'t up to par. Then again, I didn\'t like the changes character wise (I prefer my women helpess and whiney!).
-
Another little advantage of the 1968 original was the score. Very nice low tech, sometimes synthetic, dissonant music. It\'s one of the things that makes the original so scary.
-
agreed
i guess i just have a tony todd fetish, and prefer my female leads bad ass
