Ok, I\'m tired of hearing about this guy and not knowing the wholse story. What happened? I know he caused a lot of shit but what? I\'ve tried searching for info but it\'s too blah, I need real people perspectives not a PhD view.

As short as I can make it :
OJ was accused of slashing his wife and her friend\'s throat at their house.
Defense lawyers successfully convinced the jurors evidence was planted to make him look guilty.
Attorneys have tons of circumstancial evidence to incriminate OJ but the glove they made him try on did not fit....so the jurors acquit!

They made the right decision based on the rules and laws in our justice system. Would you rather have a guilty man go free or an innocent man go to jail?
Most of the evidence was against OJ, but since there was a shred of proof that the bloody glove was planted by Mark Furman they weren\'t 100% sure he was the killer. What other evidence could have been "tampered" with or planted?

actually nobody could care less about o.j. getting off. as it was well known oj frequented white women, social clubs.. etc. it was known that he became an "uncle tom" in the black community. and his beating the murder charge was just a swift kick in white society\'s crown jewels..as to say "now you know how black people feel when we have been judged unfairly!"
that said the only other highlight of the oj fiasco was the bronco chase. imo he really looked gulity doing that! saying he was going to end it all( i think he had a gun with him not sure),..what an idiot! anyway i feel oj didn\'t commit the muder but he damn sure knew who did!

He was rich = The ONLY reason he was not found guilty. He was found innocent because he had the best defense attorneys money could buy and they convinced the jury that there was the VERY VERY slight chance he was innocent.
BTW, Since when does being black facilitate being found innocent of crimes?
As far as the low-speed chase aren\'t you like 19 now? I was 13/14 when the OJ verdict came around so you would have had to be 9/10. What 9/10 year old was actually watching the chase let alone laughing at it?

Yeah it always turns into a racial thing. A HUGE number of white people think hes guilty and of course a large number of blacks say hes not. Honestly, I think that if anything it was because hes rich. Most of the times being black helps you to be found guilty, not saying that that is always the case. If anything it would be to your benefit to be white.
For all the black hispanic w/e people that have been wrongly accused and sent to jail and or sentenced to death, i think OJ can slip. Its not like he continues to show poor behavior. Not only that but the murder of one white woman vs people who have killed more or worse, children, the situation was blown out of proportion if compare to a few other trails.
I really dont choose sides, but what is done is done.

Some people just "got it" I guess. I know a 5\'10" white kid and a 5\'8" black kid that can both dunk regulation with two hands.
I knew a kid in the 8th grade who could run and tap the rim from the free throw line but couldn\'t dunk.

I\'m 6\'4" and I cant dunk, but I have flat feet, and its hard to get some "spring" action. I could probably do it now, since my legs are much stronger than they were last time i tried.
I could hang onto the rim, but I couldnt dunk it...dont know whats wrong :p

I thought it was b/c during that time there was a lot of tension between whites and blacks. Most of the jury was black, so in order to kick the whites in the balls they made him innocent.

i\'ll just speak for myself..i don\'t feel evil towards white people. It\'s just how they treat some of us. Look at all those incidents in ny during the guiliani years (i\'m not going to list them all but i\'m sure you are familiar) the incident in texas where an african amer. was dragged from the back of a pick-up truck..the one incident in ny where the cops was asking this african amer. for some id in his apt...when he reached to get his wallet the cop screamed "he has a gun!" they shot him 41 times!
Alot of our culture has been stolen from us..yeah you can state back in the slavery times black people actually sold their kind to white people..this i know. Anyway, it could very well be possible to be biased because someones black but that doesnt mean that that is the case. Spudz you may be wrong and are using this as a defence because you consider yourself correct and its natural of course. Im far from ghetto or ignorant (w/e you may call it) and i might be biased but you can\'t overlook the fact that race may not have been the dominant "card" in this case.
It would have helped more if he were rich and white if not the same. Whether they played the race card im sure bot would have been found innocent with the same evidence. The justice system is not always correct but what are you going to do about it? Not saying that i like this fact. In all honesty who really cares if race was the dominant card. Many times black people are opressed because of the fact. In this case, whether race was an issue or not, you probably couldn\'t have proved him guilty. Evidence is evidence and race... well it holds less water than any hard evidence any day.

he got off cause he had some of the best lawyers surrounding him at the time. I don\'t think race had anything to do with it. Even when he got off the family of his wife charged him in a civil suit if i remember correctly. the theme of it was that they sued him for being undirectly responsible for his wife\'s death & they won..i think he has to pay something to the tune of millions of dollars.
So this cat will be broke for the rest of his life unless he starts starring in some flicks..oh well i guess it\'s better to be broke than being bubba\'s biatch in jail! :D

I think it had to do with the fact that during the times that Affirmative Action was passed, employers were taking race as a major consideration.

affirmative action is just a way to make sure minorities get treated fairly when it comes to jobs, housing whatever. It\'s not perfect, cause some employers will just hire for the fact that they don\'t have that certain minority to fill the gap. Bottom line is employers would unfairly discriminate against minorities,..if two guys went for a job one white the other black..and the black person was more qualified,.. they still would employ the white person. Affirm action made sure those types of events would be cut down some.
It\'s not perfect as employers will just hire minorities just to fill the quota whether they really have the skills for the job or not.
Same thing happens when minorities apply for housing..quick example (say a landlord will show a white person a few apts, and if a minority comes along he will tell them that he has no units available).

You know damn well you\'d be going crazy if there was a White Entertainment TV or White history month. Or a white version of FUBU (which I can tell you a story about that to you clips, since blacks are always the people getting harassed for race).

:D I never said i thought it was great now did I? I just said that all white people say that which most do. Actually I think it is somewhat bogus but in actuality as much as people hate it, it does bring some good. I know people who have been picked just to fill a quota and ended up thriving in their location. Now i have white friends that have been turned down on certain things just because of the fact and youre right, thats kinda F*ed up. Job wise, if somebody (black) has the qualifications that are maybe slightly lower than a white male/female then it can be somewhat justified that they may obtain the job through somebody trying to fill a quota. It may sound sad but by giving somebody with a lesser chance of succeeding due to the fact that they are black helps more than some people think.
I hate to rant but its pretty obvious that blacks that dont take advantage of bettering themselves usually fall into a kind of domino effect where they grow up around people like them and so their children, friends and so on end up with the same mentality. You see it every day. All the stereotypical loud black kids have the same train of thought and most of the time they really dont give a shit about what some white guy thinks or what they are doing to themselves or other people around them. And like i said thats just the result of others before them.
So to end this somewhat long ...w/e you want to call it, Affirmative action is both bullshit and somewhat beneficial to helping the "black community" become more successful and thus end this jacked up line of morons that are sadly apart of my "people."

Those events & special awareness months exist because america was built on the backs of alot of slaves. To give us one month out the year is foolish as blacks have made great achievements and contributed to the construction of america all year round. i\'m being self centered as i know all ethnic groups have contributed alot to this country. practically every ethnic group has a month dedicated to them,.. it\'s just to show acknowledgement of what each group contributed to this country.
Is white entertainment different from black entertainment? Yes,.but it also depends..for example i feel black comedy is different from white comedy.But i feel when it comes to movies color doesn\'t play a role,..if you see a great movie and are not familiar with the director/producer, race is not a factor as the person no matter what race he/she maybe made an excellent film. capeesh? :)

And even more surprising today in my speech class I had to debate Affirmative Action!
I\'m for it in some respects. Yeah it can bring some problems but nothing is perfect. I read of an article that it doesn\'t only apply to minorities. Employers look at minorities in their work place. Minorities meaning the race that is less hired in his company. So if its full of mexicans and blacks, Affirmative Action benefited the next white person that applies. I didn\'t know that.

MOST black comedy (that sounds weird) is about bashing white people. Most white comedy is about them being fools and traveling across the country meetings whores and doing extremely stupid things. There is no brown comedy as far as I know :(
