Title: Converting OGM to AVI
Post by: Seed_Of_Evil on February 10, 2004, 06:16:11 AM
I need to learn how the hell can I convert OGM files to AVI. A friend told me that I could do so with virtualDub but all I get is sound without image :(

Can anybody explain me what I need and how to proceed?

Thx.

What\'s OGM from?  All AVI means is Audio Video Intervleaved, meaning you can combine any video codec with any audio codec you want.  Which video codec were you looking at.. Divx, Xvid?

All OGM contains is video.  It gets combined with OGG which is the audio.

So I should extract both video and audio and then join \'em again to create the AVI?

Point is if you don\'t have the OGG file then you don\'t have audio.

You only have of the title you are looking to see.  THe OGM which is the video portion.

Do a google search for OGM file and you will find some info.

Well, no, OGM files can be plexed video+sound+subtitles.  They can even have multiple audio tracks, angles, chapters, etc.  A very versitile format.

If you search a bit on the net, you should be able to find a program to break it into it\'s component parts, and from that you can re-encode.  However, if you have all the right codecs (the OGM file plays ok, right?), sound+video, I would think a bit of playing with virtualdub or nandub will work.
