42" HDTV.. I\'d take that "crapness" over my best TV any day of the week. :)

The Sony had some huge issues with the picture tubes. You would be watching it and everyone would fade into yellow.....So, they replaced it with this one, I paid the difference.

LIC, do you go to school for anything or do you just work and have expendable income?

Oh, and the tv looks sharp.

I work, live at home, therefor I have expendable income for the time being. Have a car payment, that\'s about it, other than credit card, internet and some groceries here and there (mini-fridge rocks).
Once I pay my car off, I have plan on buying my own place.

Milking the at home thing is the way to go.  I watch my friends barely get by and I wonder why.

Exactly. Live at home, as long as you can. Yes, living on your own has its perks, but I don\'t want to be in debt with a car payment, house paymnent and other bills all at once.

Unfortunately going to college 2 and a half hours away kills the idea of living at home.  If I could I would, that\'s a lot of money I don\'t need to be spending.

If you can, put $1000 into a ROTH IRA. Don\'t be surprises if after a year, you\'ll have $1,400. Keep saving! Just buy HIGH QUALITY things that LAST A LONG TIME! Such as.....

....TV, Queen size bed frame (yer looking at $600 from COSTCO, outside, its about $1200), knife set, high quality cooking ware, stereo setup....you\'re fine.

Buy furniture AFTER you\'ve moved out coz it may not match or it may be too large or too small for your first home.

Don\'t get me wrong, the first say, thousand hours of use the TV was great. Pretty good picture and everything. However, I have had to many problems with it to keep it around. I\'ve had it right at a year and then the yellow started to fade in and out, it has gotten worse and worse. Originally I wanted it to get fixed, but that was extremely unlikely, due to the fact CC could not find anyone around me to fix it. So. today I went and got my money back for it, paid the difference  for this one and come Wensday, they\'ll come here and switch \'em out.

Any thoughts on the LCD projection TVs? I have been looking at the Sony LCD projection TVS and they look really good to me.

Seems like plasma has too many issues at this point.

Had the same problem with my Hitachi and ended up getting the 47 inch Sony HD WS.  I haven\'t had any problems with mine in the year I have had it, but it is a completely different model.  The Hitachi I had was a 36 inch HD TUBE TV and I think the speakers inside the TV were not properly shielded because I kept getting a green tint in the corners.  They said it was the tube and it couldn\'t be replaced, so since I had already purchased the Sony  they sent me a $1200 gift certificate.  I bought an RCA Tru Flat 36 inch for the bedroom (I got that for $399 because they didn\'t have my first choice in stock and failed to tell me).  I also bought an iPod and a ton of DVD\'s.  Got some gifts for the family and have some left for a rainy day.  All in all I was satisfied - nothing like going on a "free" shopping spree.

I will never buy a really expensive TV without the extended warranty - that saved my ass with the Hitachi.  CC gives good service and they gave me a loaner for 2 months (a Sony Wega).

If you have no problem going mail order, I have yet to find anyone selling Sony products for cheaper than my homey up in Chicago.

His name is Lee Drady
(800) 356-2184 x115
Here is his site.
http://www.columbiaaudiovideo.com/

I took his pricing info into Sound Advice with me and my sales guy laughed at me and told me that if that\'s what he\'s willing to sell it for, then Sound Advice should buy from him because it was cheaper than they were getting them for.

Just tell him Bryan from down in Tampa told you to call him.

I would never shop online for a tv.  This is a dude you\'d want to talk to.

I have spent over 40,000 with him.

I bought my camera for 5 grand less than anyone was able to touch.

I\'ve heard of this problem, but it seems to have been a more minor problem and fixed now. Where as my Sony was a massive recall / fix issue and there is still some reports of the problem.

That is a pretty nice TV. I\'d like to get something like that and play games and stuff on it but don\'t have enough money. We just have a standard CRT TV. The picture isn\'t bad actually and with the component video jacks in the back, the game pictures are awesome.

I know this is sort OT but was the Superbowl really broadcast in HD?  I wouldn\'t know as I have DirecTV and didn\'t get it over normal airwaves.  When i was in CC getting that RCA TV I was watching a hockey game on their HDNet TV and I was drooling... I want an HD receiver for my HD TV!!!!!  I swear its a racket though, you have to buy an HD TV AND an HD receiver to get the signals... :(

Post by: Titan on February 13, 2004, 09:24:04 AM
The superbowl was in high definition.

If the sets came with the receiver they would just charge you an extra 250 bucks anyway.  So what\'s the racket?  Now you have the option to go with cable, direct tv, or OTA and you aren\'t throwing away 250 bucks on a receiver built into the set you don\'t need.

And yes, the superbowl in all it\'s titty glory was in HD.

WHy don\'t you just drink beer?

You are picking the two most obnoxious liquers to get drunk off of and then saying you don\'t like it.

I don\'t like the taste of beer. It\'s that simple... I don\'t like being drunk, I don\'t like the taste of beer. The only thing I will drink is some nice wine every once in awhile.

Well, my TV came in today. Still tweaking my video setings, but I love it so far.
A lot more flexiable than the Sony, due to fact you have access to the Service Menu from the get-go..

Right now I\'ve got my Pioneer player hooked up via S-VIDEO and my Cyberhome hooked up via Component. Still more tweaking, but I think I\'ll be happy with this set.
